Abstract

Komposisi hasil tangkapan pada bioreeftek didominasi oleh ikan kakap merah, keanekaragaman dan keseragaman yang bervariasi dengan dominansi yang rendahDemersal fishing has taken place intensively so that it has an impact on changes in population and ecosystem dynamics. Based on this, the research was conducted to determine the composition of fish species, species diversity, species uniformity, and the dominance of fish species caught around the bioreeftech. This research was conducted in the coastal waters of Sampulungan Village, North Galesong, Takalar Regency from September to November 2022. This study used an experimental method by installing fish apartments at different water depths. Data collection was carried out using a survey method through underwater observations and direct capture of bioreeftek using fishing traps. These observations were made twice a week for two months. The results showed that the samples of fish caught at the study site were 358 individuals which were grouped into 11 species. The composition of fish species caught the least was the species Nemipterus theodorei at 4.75% and the highest was the species Lutjanus malabaricus at 17.04%, diversity ranged from 2,460-18,394 with medium and high categories, uniformity 0.194-2.896 with low, medium and high categories and low dominance range of 0,002-0,029. The composition of catches in fish apartments is dominated by red snapper, varied and uniformity of diversity with low dominance.

Abstract

Abstract

The nutritional potential of copepods as live feed for larvae warrants further exploration, particularly for juvenile and adult shrimp. However, their small size presents a challenge, as larger shrimp may struggle to capture such small prey. A nutrient-based formulation approach was adopted by supplementing Oithona sp. copepod meal into vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) feed, and its effects on survival and growth were evaluated. A 35-day experiment was conducted in aquariums (20×20×30 cm) with an 8-liter water volume. The experimental feed was prepared by coating it with copepod meal. Four supplementation levels, each with three replicates, were tested: 0, 1, 2, and 3 g per 100 g of feed. Vannamei shrimp with an initial weight of 2.15±0.03 g and a stocking density of 16 individuals per aquarium were fed three times a day to satiation. Although the differences were not statistically significant, the survival rate of shrimp fed with supplemented diets (all 100±0.00%) was higher than that of the non-supplemented group (97.9±3.6%). In terms of growth, Absolute Weight Gain (AWG) and Specific Growth Rate (SGR) were significantly higher in the 3 g (5.27±0.02 g and 3.53±0.01% day-1), 2 g (5.13±0.08 g and 3.51±0.06% day-1), and 1 g group (4.88±0.10 g and 3.36±0.07% day-1) compared to the non-supplemented group (2.97±0.13 g and 2.48±0.11% day-1). In conclusion, the supplementation of copepod meal effectively enhanced the survival and growth of vannamei shrimp. The 3 g dose is the best dose that promotes the highest growth and survival.

Abstract

Recent studies show the importance of artificial structures in supporting the recovery of coral reef ecosystems, particularly in improving the association of reef fish that play an important role in the ecological balance of tropical seas. The innovation in the use of turtle-shaped transplant skeletons is the main highlight because it is able to attract higher biodiversity than conventional methods. This study aims to evaluate the parameters of water quality, diversity index, and abundance of reef fish species associated with the transplant structure. Data collection was carried out using the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method at two different sampling moments of the season. The first sampling is during the rainy season, and the second sampling is during the dry season. The environmental parameters measured included salinity, temperature, pH, and water currents, while biotic indicators included the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') and species density (ind/m²). The results showed that all water quality parameters were within the standard range of marine quality for marine life (First side: salinity 32.6 ppt; temperature 31 °C; pH 7.7; current 0.05 m/s and second sampling: salinity 32 ppt; temperature 30.6 °C; pH 7.5; current 0.07 m/s). A total of sixteen species of fish were found to be associated with transplanting media, including Plotosus lineatus, Siganus margaritiferus, Ptereleotris heteroptera, Abudefduf vaigiensis, Chromis atripectoralis, Aeoliscus strigatus, Petroscirtes mitratus, Chaetodon octofactiatus, Abudefduf sexfactiatus, Meiacanthus grammistes, Cheilodipterus artus, Cheilinus chlorourus, Siganus virgatus, Chrysiptera parasema, Synanceia verrucosa and Sargocentron xantherythrum. The first sampling showed a lower diversity value (H' = 316.76; D = 2.3 ind/m²) compared to the second sampling (H' = 322.10; D = 3.28 ind/m²). This difference is influenced by dry season conditions that lead to increased clarity and penetration of sunlight, which significantly supports the abundance of biota. These findings confirm the potential of innovative transplant structure design in supporting sustainable coral fisheries conservation.
