Abstract

This research is motivated by the instability of profitability experienced by Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia over the past five years. This paper aims to analyze the effect of liquidity, solvency, and Non-Performing Financing (NPF) on profitability with company size as a moderating variable in Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia from 2019-2023. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the financial statements of banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The analysis method used in this study is panel data regression with Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The study results indicate that liquidity and solvency have a positive and significant effect on profitability, while NPF has a negative and significant effect on profitability. Firm size can moderate the relationship between liquidity and profitability and the relationship between solvency and profitability, but firm size cannot moderate the relationship between NPF and profitability. The implications of this study indicate the importance of liquidity management, debt control, and management of problematic financing in improving the profitability performance of Islamic banks.

Abstract

Islamic economics came back when the new economic era had begun to develop. The emergence of Islamic Banking followed this. Islamic Banking is expected to make the economy of countries in the world even better. This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, CAR, and OEOI on firm value, as well as the moderating function of capital structure. This study uses quantitative methods with panel data regression analysis techniques with Eviews 12. The sample of this study includes 11 Islamic banks in Asia using secondary data taken from each official website of each Islamic bank. Based on research results, the value of Sharia banking companies in Asia is significantly influenced by profitability. CAR and OEOI do not affect the value of Sharia banking companies. Capital structure cannot mitigate the impact of profitability and CAR on company value. However, the effect of OEOI on company value can be mitigated by capital structure.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the profitability of Islamic commercial banks with the functions of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), Operating Expenses and Operating Income (BOPO), inflation, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and interest rates. This quantitative study's monthly report of Islamic banking and the monthly report of statistical data for 2015-2022 are secondary data sources. A method used is called multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of research, CAR and NPF are significantly related to the profitability of Islamic commercial banks. In contrast, the results of BOPO, GDP, inflation, and interest rates have no significant relationship with Islamic commercial banks. ROA simultaneously affects CAR, NPF, BOPO, inflation, GDP, and interest rates. Based on the conclusions of this study. If Islamic banks want to maximize their profitability, they must maintain capital efficiency and stabilize non-performing financing and operational ratios.

Abstract

Geopolitical tensions especially those occurring in the Middle East, have significantly impacted the world economy. This impact was also felt by the Indonesian state, which impacted company share prices which experienced a decline due to geopolitical tensions, including the banking sector. Apart from geopolitical tensions, several other factors, such as the company's fundamental factors, also influenced the decline in share prices. Fundamental factors play an important role in determining a company's share price. These factors refer to various elements and variables that reflect the company's financial condition, operations, and prospects. So quite a few investors use fundamental analysis to assess whether current share prices reflect the company's true intrinsic value. This study seeks to reassess the elements affecting banking share prices by incorporating macroeconomic control variables related to these concerns to enhance the robustness of the findings. Utilizing a quantitative approach through panel data regression, the research focuses on banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023, with a sample of 16 companies meeting the selection criteria. The results reveal that Debt Equity Ratio (DER), Return On Assets (ROA), Return On Equity (ROE), GDP, inflation, and exchange rates collectively have a positive and significant impact on stock prices. However, when analyzed individually, only ROE and exchange rates show a significant effect, while DER, ROA, GDP, and inflation do not.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examined the impact of macroeconomic variables and zakat on poverty alleviation.Design/methodology: This study is a quantitative study with a regression analysis method of panel data in districts/cities in Central Java, West Java, and East Java, from 2018 to 2022. Additional testing on a subsample in East Java was conducted to ensure the consistency of the results.Findings: The findings indicate that the Human Development Index, gross domestic product, and zakat negatively affect poverty levels, while the regional minimum wage positively affects poverty alleviation. Further, the study fails to find any significant impact of government expenditure on poverty alleviation. The test in East Java indicates that only the regional minimum wage and government expenditure affect poverty levels. This suggests that poverty is a complex issue that varies from region to region, necessitating region-specific poverty alleviation policies.Practical implications: These results suggest that the synergy between government and society is crucial for poverty alleviation in Indonesia, and policies should be tailored to the specific conditions of each region.Originality/Value: This study provides insights into the complex relationship between macroeconomic variables and poverty alleviation, highlighting the regional differences in the impact of these variables.

Abstract

Poverty is a significant problem faced by developing countries, including Indonesia. Islam teaches its people to fight poverty because poverty is closer to kufr. Aceh is famous for applying Islamic law, but Aceh is the poorest province on the island of Sumatra in 2020. Meanwhile, in terms of Sharia financing, Aceh Province ranks 4th, and the Human Development Index (IPM) ranks 11th highest nationally. This panel aims to determine the effect of Islamic financing and the Human Development Index (HDI) on poverty levels in Aceh Province. Data analysis was carried out using panel data regression by choosing the best regression model, namely the Fixed Effect Model, by combining cross-section data of 21 districts/cities in Aceh Province during the 2016-2020 period. The study results, both partially and simultaneously, Islamic financing and HDI have a negative and significant effect on the poverty level in Aceh Province.
