Abstract

This study analyzes the discourse on da'i (Islamic preacher) certification through the lens of public literacy by critically examining the Hotroom podcast. The certification of da'i has become a significant discourse in Indonesia, aiming to enhance the professionalism of Islamic preaching, moderate religious teachings, and curb the spread of radicalism. However, the policy has sparked controversy concerning the freedom of religious expression and the plurality of Islam. The Hotroom podcast, as a digital medium, serves as an interactive forum that brings together diverse perspectives from legislators, religious scholars, and the public. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and critical discourse analysis, this study investigates the narratives, rhetoric, and ideologies embedded in the discussions around da'i certification. The findings reveal two dominant narratives: a positive narrative that supports certification as a step toward the professionalization of dakwah (Islamic preaching), and a critical narrative that rejects the policy on the grounds that it restricts freedom of speech. Community-based alternatives, such as non-formal training and standardization, are proposed to maintain inclusivity and local relevance. The analysis highlights the importance of collaboration between the government, religious organizations, and civil society in designing adaptive and tolerant religious policies. As a medium of public literacy, the podcast proves effective in presenting complex issues reflectively, fostering democratic dialogue, and promoting critical public awareness. This research contributes to the development of humanistic and adaptable religious policymaking in the digital age.

Abstract

In the Society 5.0 era, strong numeracy skills are essential for processing complex data and making informed decisions. However, the numeracy levels of the Indonesian population remain relatively low, underscoring the need for effective educational interventions. This study investigates the effectiveness of the Learning, Doing, and Repeating (LDR) model, supported by GeoGebra, in developing community-based numeracy skills. The LDR model structures learning through iterative cycles: initial instruction (Learning), direct application (Doing), and reinforcement (Repeating), with GeoGebra facilitating the visualization of mathematical relationships. An experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, involving community members guided by PKBM Yapenmas. Numeracy skills were assessed using mathematics tasks adapted from the PISA 2022 framework, alongside observations and interviews. The results indicated significant improvements in participants' numeracy skills following the intervention. The use of GeoGebra was found to enhance participants' conceptual understanding and engagement during the learning process. These findings suggest that the LDR model, when integrated with interactive technology, offers an effective approach to fostering numeracy development in informal educational contexts. This study contributes to the growing field of technology-assisted mathematics education and highlights the potential of iterative learning models for strengthening foundational numeracy skills within community learning environments.

Abstract

Land availability is crucial and determines the supply of corn cobs through sustainable corn cultivation to ensure the continuous production of compressed biogas (CBG). This study aims to assess the potential land for corn cultivation and the sustainability value of the corn cob supply for the CBG plant. The methods used in this study include overlaying land cover maps, spatial planning maps, and forest area maps, as well as conducting a Multiaspect Sustainability Analysis (MSA) to evaluate its sustainability level. The overlay results indicate that the potential additional land for corn cultivation in West Lombok Regency is 14,297 hectares. Meanwhile, the sustainability analysis reveals that the ecological aspect falls into the moderately sustainable category with a score of >50, namely 66.67. The social aspect has a sustainability score of 60, while the technology and infrastructure aspect scores 75, and the legal and institutional aspect also scores 66.67. The economic aspect is classified as less sustainable, with a score of <50, specifically 43.75. Overall, the sustainability status of the corn cob supply is categorized as moderately sustainable, with a score of 62.42.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program for engineering students at a private university in West Java, Indonesia, using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation model. The study involved 15 participants, including 10 Mechanical Engineering students, 3 ESP instructors, and 2 program administrators. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis over a four-month period. The findings revealed that the program successfully identified students' professional language needs, particularly in technical writing and oral presentation, aligning well with industry and academic expectations. Quantitative data indicated an average 18% improvement in students' writing and presentation scores over one semester. Despite these gains, listening skills remained underdeveloped due to the limited integration of audio-based materials and listening-focused instruction. The curriculum applied project-based learning and included some authentic materials but was hindered by insufficient instructor training and inadequate resource support. The study underscores the importance of aligning curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and resource allocation with learner needs. It also affirms the utility of the CIPP model in evaluating ESP programs holistically and provides practical implications for curriculum developers, language educators, and institutional policymakers committed to enhancing the quality and impact of ESP instruction in engineering education.

Abstract

As online shopping trends and competition in the e-commerce sector continue to grow, live streaming has emerged as a promising interactive marketing strategy. This study examines the influence of e-commerce live streaming features on consumer purchase intention through a systematic literature review, analyzing 30 articles published between 2022 and 2024. The objectives of this research are to summarize existing data on the impact of live streaming features on purchase intention, identify the factors influencing the relationship between live streaming and purchase intention, and provide recommendations for Indonesian MSMEs to optimize the use of live streaming. Findings show that China is the dominant research location, with agricultural products being the most frequently studied category. Most studies employed a quantitative approach, particularly using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The analysis identified 130 factors affecting consumer purchase intention, which were categorized into ten main themes. Based on these findings, this study recommends that Indonesian MSMEs optimize live streaming by strengthening emotional aspects such as affective trust and psychological distance, as well as leveraging influencer credibility to attract more consumers. In addition, service quality, information quality, and social presence during live streaming sessions play a crucial role in enhancing consumer satisfaction and purchase intention. This study is expected to serve as a strategic reference for MSMEs in maximizing the potential of live streaming as an effective digital marketing tool.
