Abstract

This paper discusses the sum of fundamental solutions of 2-D diffusion equation (for constant diffusion rate). Although a linear diffusion equation is considered, the sum of fundamental solutions is not automatically a solution. This is because of the presence of a singularity at the origin O. In this paper, it will be shown that the sum of fundamental solutions is a solution of the primitive of diffusion equation, diffusion equation in an integral form. It is also shown that the sum of fundamental solutions represents mass tranfer process caused by a source that impulsively releases  some amount of mass.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas aplikasi persamaan panas pada proses pengeringan balok kayu, yang sering digunakan pada industri mebel. Solusi dari model ini dapat digunakan untuk memprediksi panas di pusat balok. Informasi ini penting untuk menentukan efisiensi proses pengeringan di ruangan pengering (kiln chamber), yaitu untuk menjawab kapan proses ini dari sudut pandang kualitas dan ekonomi dapat dihentikan. Meneruskan proses yang sudah cukup, akan mengeluarkan banyak energi, yang meningkatkan biaya. Sedangkan menghentikan proses di mana kayu belum cukup kering akan mengakibatkan kayu bengkok setelah beberapa lama. Kalau hal ini terjadi, akan sangat menurunkan kualitas mebel yang dihasilkan, khususnya mebel dengan ukiran yang berkualitas tinggi.

Abstract

In this article we discuss the comparison of Divide & Broadcast Method (DBM) and Divide & Partial Broadcast Method. Both are data processing methods. From mathematical point of view the methods are to seek a relation of two sets of a large amount of data, too large for one processor. The comparison is based on three basic computations of the matching of two sets i.e. multiplication, addition and logarithm. The comparison is to obtain the efficiency of the methods. Previous researches have shown that based on multiplication and addition DPBM is more efficient than DBM, but the result based on logarithm is still unknown. In this article we report our result on the comparison of DBM and DPBM based on logarithm computation. Â
