Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the relationship between basic mathematical abilities and statistical learning outcomes. This study is an explanatory researchs with quantitative correlational research method. The subjects in this study were fifth semester students of the D3 Corporate Management study program, while the objects in this study were students' basic mathematical abilities which included algebra, calculus, and probability and student statistics learning outcomes. The data was collected using a basic mathematical ability test instrument consisting of a test of algebra, calculus and probability material as well as a test of statistical learning outcomes. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Inferential statistical testing using multiple linear regression test. Based on the results of data analysis, there is a positive relationship between basic mathematical abilities (algebra, calculus, and probability) on student statistics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative correlational design using a survey method to collect data on students' critical thinking skills and mathematical resilience. The purpose of the research is to analyze and describe the relationship between mathematical resilience and the critical thinking abilities of fourth-grade students at a public elementary school in Gebang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province, involving a sample of 24 students. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The research instruments used include a critical thinking skills test and a mathematical resilience questionnaire. Data analysis techniques employed in this study consist of descriptive and inferential statistics to examine the relationship between mathematical resilience and students' critical thinking abilities. The hypothesis tests utilized include correlation analysis, regression analysis, and regression coefficients. The findings indicate that mathematical resilience contributes to students' critical thinking skills, showing a positive relationship of moderate strength. Specifically, the regression analysis reveals that mathematical resilience accounts for 22.5% of the variance in the critical thinking abilities of the fourth-grade students.

Abstract

Mathematical conceptual understanding is a fundamental skill that serves as a foundation for more advanced abilities, including reasoning, communication, connections, and problem-solving. However, this foundational skill is influenced by students’ prior mathematical abilities. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify and describe differences in students’ mathematical conceptual understanding based on their prior mathematical abilities. This research employs a mixed-method approach, involving 87 purposively selected students enrolled in the Analytic Geometry in Planes and Space course. The research instruments include a mathematical conceptual understanding test and documentation of students’ prior mathematical abilities. Data were analyzed quantitatively using one-way ANOVA and qualitatively by exploring mathematical conceptual understanding across categories of prior mathematical abilities. The findings reveal that both quantitative and qualitative analyses indicate that students with high prior mathematical abilities demonstrate superior mathematical conceptual understanding compared to those with medium or low prior mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Pelatihan penyusunan Soal Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh guru-guru SD Negeri dalam pembuatan soal-soal ujian akhir sekolah yang diberikan dalam menilai hasil belajar siswa selama ini masih dalam tataran Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). Hal ini dikarenakan kurangnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru-guru tentang konsep HOTS serta kurangnya kemampuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menyusun soal berbasis HOTS. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan dengan cara memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam penyusunan soal berdasarkan pedoman penulisan soal HOTS khususnya guru kelas IV, V, dan VI. Melalui metode ceramah dan praktik, pelatihan ini ternyata dapat membuka wawasan pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru tentang bagaimana menyusun soal serta meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan guru dalam membuat soal pada jenjang keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi sehingga dapat digunakan untuk mengukur perkembangan daya pikir dan nalar siswa dengan semestinya sesuai dengan capaian akhir pembelajaran yang diharapkan yaitu agar siswa dapat berpikir krtitis dan kreatif sehingga dapat menerapkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang dimilikinya untuk mengenali dan menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan dan keefektifan LKPD berbasis saintifik pada mata pelajaran IPAS untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 054914 Kota Lama Secanggang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development). Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap yaitu: analisis (analysis), perancangan (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation) dan evaluasi (evaluation). Subjek dalam penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 27 siswa, yang terdiri dari 17 siswa perempuan dan 10 siswa laki-laki. Teknik dalam penelitian yaitu observasi, wawancara, angket dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli media dengan persentase 92,5% dikategorikan valid, hasil validasi ahli materi 94,2% dikategorikan valid dan hasil validasi ahli bahasa sebesar 96,6% dikategorikan valid. Respon siswa pada uji kolompok kecil yaitu 89,71% dikategorikan sangat valid dan hasil respon siswa pada uji kolompok besar yaitu 87,92% dikategorikan sangat valid. Berdasarkan uji coba skala kecil memperoleh 71,42% siswa yang mencapai KKM dengan hasil perhitungan gain score dari hasil pre-test dan pos-test 0,57 dikategorikan sedang dan hasil uji coba skala besar memperoleh 74,07% siswa yang mencapai KKM dengan hasil perhitungan gain score dari hasil pre-test dan pos-test 0,54 dikategorikan sedang. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKPD berbasis karakter pada mata pelajara IPAS untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 054914 Kota Lama Secanggang dikatakan layak dan efektif digunakan.

Abstract

[English]: This study investigates the relationship between students' mathematical resilience and their learning styles and gender. Employing a non-experimental comparative design and survey methodology, the study utilized mathematical resilience and learning style questionnaires as data collection instruments. The study's sample consisted of 62 fifth-grade elementary school students from Stabat City, North Sumatra Province. Sampling was conducted using the probability proportional sampling technique, resulting in 32 female and 30 male students. Data analysis employed a two-way ANOVA test to examine the impact of two independent variables (learning style and gender) on the dependent variable (mathematical resilience). The findings revealed that the visual learning style was the predominant learning style among students. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a significant correlation between learning styles and mathematical resilience, suggesting that variations in learning styles significantly influence mathematical resilience. In contrast, gender was found to have no discernible impact on mathematical resilience. Additionally, the analysis indicated no interaction between learning style and gender in influencing mathematical resilience. These findings imply that learning styles independently influence mathematical resilience, without any moderating effect of gender. The implications of this study suggest that when developing teaching strategies to enhance mathematical resilience, it is advisable to prioritize individual learning styles rather than differentiating based on gender. [Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji resiliensi matematis siswa dalam kaitannya dengan gaya belajar dan jenis kelamin mereka. Dengan menggunakan desain komparatif non-eksperimental dan metodologi survei, penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner resiliensi matematis dan gaya belajar sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 62 siswa sekolah dasar kelas lima dari Kota Stabat, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik probability proportional sampling, menghasilkan 32 siswa perempuan dan 30 siswa laki-laki. Analisis data menggunakan uji ANOVA dua arah untuk menguji dampak dari dua variabel independen (gaya belajar dan jenis kelamin) terhadap variabel dependen (resiliensi matematis). Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa gaya belajar visual adalah gaya belajar yang paling umum (dominan) di antara siswa. Lebih jauh lagi, gaya belajar menunjukkan dampak yang signifikan pada resiliensi matematis, yang menunjukkan bahwa variasi dalam gaya belajar memberikan kontribusi secara substansial pada tingkat resiliensi matematis. Sebaliknya, tidak ditemukan pengaruh jenis kelamin pada resiliensi matematis. Selain itu, analisis menunjukkan tidak adanya interaksi antara gaya belajar dan jenis kelamin dalam mempengaruhi resiliensi matematis. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa gaya belajar secara mandiri mempengaruhi resiliensi matematis, tanpa moderasi apa pun oleh jenis kelamin. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketika mempertimbangkan strategi pengajaran untuk meningkatkan resiliensi matematis, penekanan dapat diberikan pada gaya belajar individu tanpa perlu membedakan berdasarkan jenis kelamin.

Abstract

Students enrolled in Informatics Engineering Education programs frequently encounter substantial obstacles in mastering Discrete Mathematics, a fundamental subject that necessitates perseverance, logical reasoning, and effective study strategies. These challenges are often compounded by negative perceptions of mathematics, lack of perseverance in learning, and ineffective study habits. In this context, it is imperative to investigate non-cognitive factors that may influence students’ academic performance (SAP), such as mathematics resilience (MR), attitudes and learning habits (ALH), and gender. This study endeavours to examine the extent to which MR, ALH, and gender contribute to SAP in Discrete Mathematics. A quantitative ex post facto correlational design was employed, involving a sample of 50 third-semester students selected through proportional random sampling methods. Data were collected using standardised questionnaires assessing MR and ALH, along with academic records from the targeted course. The findings indicate that both MR and ALH significantly influence students’ academic performance. Among these factors, ALH emerged as the most influential contributor to academic success. In contrast, gender did not have any substantial impact on students’ achievement. These results emphasize the significance of non-cognitive factors—particularly resilience and effective learning behaviors—in supporting students’ success in mathematics-related coursework.

Abstract

The concept of derivatives is an important concept in the field of Calculus to be studied and taught at school and university levels. However, understanding derived concepts that do not fully involve the meaning of various representations has the potential to trigger a combination of concept descriptions with formal concept definitions as well as learning challenges or learning obstacles in epistemological, ontogenic and also didactic aspects. Therefore, the research carried out aims to observe the context of the knowledge that will be taught as one of a series of didactic transposition processes in order to obtain transpositional knowledge that is relevant to be taught. The research method used is qualitative research with a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. The participants involved in the research were 38 students who were prospective mathematics teachers from one of the universities in West Java. The research results show that there are inaccuracies in the presentation of ideas and concepts related to the knowledge to be taught, especially in the definition of derivative concepts. The mismatch between formal concept definitions and participant concept descriptions in learning by referring to mathematics textbooks which are used as the main reference results in learning obstacles for the subjects so that there is a need for repersonalization and recontextualization as an effort to produce more meaningful knowledge.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk mendukung pengembangan usaha kecil berbasis ekonomi biru melalui digitalisasi manajemen usaha dan pemasaran produk kerupuk jeruju di Desa Kwala Serapuh, Kabupaten Langkat. Permasalahan utama mitra meliputi proses produksi yang masih manual, pencatatan keuangan yang belum sistematis, serta pemasaran yang terbatas pada lingkup lokal. Solusi yang ditawarkan mencakup pengadaan mesin pengadon dan pencetak kerupuk, penerapan aplikasi akuntansi sederhana, serta pengembangan platform e-commerce. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, implementasi teknologi, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada aspek pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap peserta. Pengetahuan e-commerce meningkat dari 30% menjadi 80%, keterampilan e-commerce dari 25% menjadi 75%, pengetahuan akuntansi dari 35% menjadi 85%, keterampilan akuntansi dari 20% menjadi 70%, serta sikap dan partisipasi dari 40% menjadi 90%. Selain itu, penggunaan mesin produksi mampu meningkatkan kapasitas produksi hingga 300% serta efisiensi biaya sebesar 48,75%. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa modernisasi produksi dan digitalisasi manajemen usaha dapat meningkatkan daya saing, akuntabilitas, serta keberlanjutan UMKM pesisir dalam mendukung ekonomi biru. Kebaruan dari kegitan ini terletak pada integrasi pemantauan produksi, pencatatan keuangan digital berbasis aplikasi ringan, dan pemasaran digital terarah ke dalam satu model operasional yang disesuaikan dengan dinamika pesisir dan rantai nilai jeruju. Pendekatan ini menghadirkan indikator kinerja digital baru yang memadukan efisiensi proses, transparansi keuangan, dan perluasan pasar dalam kerangka blue economy.
