Abstract

Cordia myxa L. is empirically used as an antidiabetic medication. The aim of this study is to determine the in-vivo effect of Cordia myxa L. n-hexane fraction on reducing blood sugar levels and their relationship with the anti-free-radical activity assay using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl). The n-hexane fraction of Cordia myxa L. was used as a sample in the post-prandial assay which was analyzed using the ANOVA statistical test followed by Post-Hoc test. The results showed that there were significant in the extract using a 500 mg dose. In the anti-free-radical test using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl) at maximum wavelength of 516 nm, 16.49 µg /mL IC50 value was obtained. For comparison, Quercetin with IC50 0.13 µg/mL was used. This shows that the sample has strong anti-free radical inhibitory potential ranged from 10 µg/mL to 50 µg/mL. The data from the calculation showed that there is a correlation between its effect of lowering high blood sugar level and anti-free radical activity

Abstract

Polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.) is a plant that grows a lot in the Enrekang area, South Sulawesi. Polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.) belongs to the Polygalaceae family which is widely used by the community as a medicine to treat wound. This study aims to determine the phenolic content in the methanol extract of polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.). Methanol extract of polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.) was obtained by maceration method with methanol P as solvent. Chemical component analysis used thin layer chromatography (TLC) method which was marked by the appearance of stains. The determination of phenolic content of methanol extract of polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.) using the TLC-Densitometry method. The results showed that the phytochemical test on the methanol extract of polygala grass (Polygala paniculata L.) was positive for 35.280 µg of phenolic compounds.

Abstract

Passion (Passiflora edulis) fruit belongs to the Passifloraceae family and has high-value economics. The extraction efficiency is affected by the phytochemical’s properties of plant, the solvent and extraction method used to extract the desired compounds.  The seeds of passion fruit exhibit an oil content, the valuable bioactive compound as antioxidant activity. The passion fruit seed were the waste obtained from the passion fruit syrup company in Makassar City. This study aims to determine the effect of different extraction methods on antioxidant activity of passion fruit seed extracts. The seed was macerated with methanol at room temperature for 5 days, and the ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) process was performed for 30 minutes. The antioxidant capacity was measured using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The results showed that the percentage yield of extract from UAE was 6.45% and the extract yield from maceration method was 5.458%. The result of antioxidant activity (IC50 value) revealed that the methanol extract obtained from UAE and maceration were 71.672 ug/mL and 144.901 ug/mL, respectively.  These results indicate that the UAE method is a suitable extraction method to produce strong antioxidant activity from Passiflora seed extract.

Abstract

Bintaro Leaf (Cerbera odollam Gaertn) contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins that have the potential as larvicides. The study aimed to determine the mortality rate of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae after administration of Bintaro leaf extract as indicated by the LC50 value. The extract was obtained by maceration method. The yield of Bintaro Leaf (Cerbera odollam Gaertn)extract was 6.03%. This study used 180 mosquito larvae (Aedes aegypti) instar III, divided into test solutions made with 4 concentrations (10,000 ppm, 1000 ppm, 100 ppm and 50 ppm), positive control using Abate and negative control using Aquadest. Observations were made after 24 hours of treatment. The results of the larvacide test showed that the Bintaro leaf extract was effective as a larvicidal as indicated by the LC50 value of 21.170 g/mL 1000 g/mL.

Abstract

Secang wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) is a part of the Secang plant which is widely used to treat various diseases, including diabetes. Based on previous research, secang wood contains flavonoids which have the potential to inhibit the α-glucosidase enzyme. The research aims to determine the potential of ethanol extracted by meseration using 96% ethanol. Inhibition of activity was tested using microplate reader which was measured at a wavelength of 405 nm with acarbose as a comparison. The results of the research show that the ethanol extract of secang wood has inhibitory activity, including it in the active category based on the % inhibition value obtained at 83.63%. Meanwhile, acarbose has inhibitory activity, including it in the very active category with a %inhibition value of 79%.

Abstract

Desa Sanrobone adalah salah satu Desa dilingkungan pemerintahan Kabupaten Takalar Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Secara keseluruhan luas wilayah Sanrobone 6,32 km2, dimana keadaan alam geografis merupakan daerah daratan, dan mengandung kekayaan SDA yang melimpah. Sehingga mata pencaharian masyarakat setempat adalah di bidang peternakan, pertambangan dan pertanian. Daerah ini juga termasuk daerah yang sangat subur sehingg banyak ditemuai tanaman/tumbuhan yang potensial dikembangkan menjadi bahan obat seperti, jahe, jagung, kunyit, asam dan lainnya. Potensi SDA Desa Sanrobone sangat mendukung dalam upaya Desa sanrobone yang menempatkan canangan SDGs pada prioritas selama pandemic Covid-19 yaitu mencapai “Desa Sehat dan Sejahtera”. Kegiatan ini dilakukan diawali dengan inventarisir potensi SDA yang potensial sebagai bahan baku obat/supplement termasuk bahan immune booster. Penyuluhan manfaat rempah/sayuran disekitar lingkungan sebagai immune booster. Workshop/pelatihan cara pengolahan rempah/sayuran untuk menjadi sumber immune booster alami berdasarakan standar Cara Pembuatan Obat Tradisional yang Baik (CPOTB). Serta tambahan pengetahuan mengenai pengemasan dan packaging produk herbal immune booster berpotensi komersial. Berdasarkan hasil observasi data disimpulkan bahwa Desa Sanrobone memiliki ragam tumbuhan yang berpotensi dalam pengembangan immune booster herbal dan dapat dimodifikasi dalam beberapa bentuk variasi seperti minuman segar ataupun seduhan atau the herbal.Kata Kunci: Immune booster; Herbal; Sanrobone.

Abstract

Manisan buah adalah salah satu camilan atau makanan pendamping yang banyak diminati warga makassar. Salah satu pelaku usaha pembuat manisan di makassar adalah UKM manisan MKS. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pendampingan produksi dan tata kelola managerial kepada UMKM sehingga produksi dan profit dapat meningkat. Metode kegiatan ini melalui beberapa pendekatan yaitu metode pelatihan metode pelatihan, metode bimbingan teknis dan pendampingan, metode pendekatan fasilitasi dan media, pendampingan produksi, pelaksanaan monitoring dan evaluasi. Dari hasil kegiatan dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlunya pendampingan produksi dan managerial pada UMKM sehingga dapat membantu peningkatan produksi, mutu dan profit.

Abstract

Djohrani Zamzami Siti Halifa. Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak Deklorofilasi Daun Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.) Dengan Metode DPPH (dibimbing oleh Aktsar Roskiana Ahmad dan Hasnaeni) Tumbuhan kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.) merupakan tumbuhan yang termasuk dalam famili Moringaceae, yang dikenal sebagai The Miracle Tree atau pohon Ajaib, karena kaya akan sumber gizi, berkhasiat obat yang bermanfaat untuk kesehatan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui profil KLT dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak deklorofilasi daun kelor dengan metode DPPH menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Sampel diperoleh dari Kota Makassar, diekstraksi menggunakan ultrasonic dengan 2 pelarut yaitu n-heksan 1L (deklorofilasi) dan pelarut etanol 96% 500 mL dengan sampel 30 g. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak deklorofilasi daun kelor positif mengandung senyawa fenolik, flavanoid, terpenoid dan saponin dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 242,341 µg/mL, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak deklorofilasi daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.) kategori efek antioksidan dimiliki lemah.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease in which blood pressure in the arteries increases. Hypertension is a health problem that has a risk of causing other diseases such as coronary heart disease, kidney failure, nerve dysfunction and stroke. Plants such as purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) are one of the plants that have benefits in treating disease. The purpose of the review article is to determine the potential of Portulaca oleracea L. as an anti-hypertensive. This research is a Review Journal. The subject of this review is national and international articles indexed nationally and internationally in the last 10 years which discuss the antihypertensive ability of Portulaca oleracea L. by classifying them based on the type of study and test model used in-vivo, the potential of the plant in lowering blood pressure, mechanism of action in treating hypertension, and specific chemical constituents responsible for anti-hypertensive activity. Based on the results of studies conducted on several journal articles, it can be concluded that Portulaca oleracea L. : 1. exhibits promising antihypertensive properties through various mechanisms, including vasodilation, reduction of heart rate, and improvement of endothelial function; 2. Clinical trials and comparative studies indicate that it can significantly reduce systolic blood pressure, making it a potential natural adjunct in managing hypertension; 3. exhibits multiple mechanisms that can help manage hypertension, primarily through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and lipid-regulating properties, 4. contains several bioactive compounds that contribute to its antihypertensive effects such as Asperglaucide (ASP), Oleracein E and Oleracein L, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Quercetin, and Rutin.

Abstract

Kunyit hitam (Curcuma caesia) merupakan tanaman dari keluarga Zingiberaceae yang memiliki potensi sebagai sumber senyawa bioaktif seperti fenol dan antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kadar fenol total dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kunyit hitam menggunakan metode peredaman radikal bebas DPPH. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi dan ultrasonikator pada variasi suhu dan durasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampel S1 memiliki kadar fenol tertinggi sebesar 42,122 mg/g dan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 0,405 ppm. Aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan kadar fenol total. Penelitian ini menunjukkan potensi kunyit hitam sebagai sumber antioksidan alami yang dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut.
