Abstract

This study aims to compare soil infiltration rates between greenbelt areas and open areas within the PT Semen Padang industrial complex. The study was conducted within the PT Semen Padang industrial complex, focusing on two locations: the greenbelt area and the open area. Measurement points were selected using a purposive sampling method adapted to field conditions. Soil infiltration rates were measured using the double-ring infiltrometer method, and the data obtained were analyzed using the Horton model to describe the soil infiltration patterns. The results showed that soil infiltration rates in the greenbelt area were consistently higher than those in the open area throughout the observation period. At the start of the measurement (t₂), the infiltration rate in the greenbelt area was very high, for example, reaching 144 cm/h at point T1 and 414 cm/h at point T8, whereas in the open area it was only 12 cm/h at T1 and 9 cm/h at T8. As time progressed, the infiltration rate in both areas decreased until reaching a constant value. At the 120th minute, the infiltration rate in the greenbelt area stabilized at a relatively higher value, such as 48.3 cm/h at T1, while in the open area it stabilized at a much lower value, namely 3.6 cm/h at T1. These findings indicate that the greenbelt area has a better initial infiltration capacity (f₀) and constant infiltration rate (f????) compared to the open area.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim global yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya intensitas dan frekuensi curah hujan ekstrem telah meningkatkan risiko banjir di berbagai wilayah, khususnya pada daerah dengan karakteristik tanah yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan laju infiltrasi, aliran permukaan (runoff), serta penentuan titik kritis pada tanah aluvial dan non-aluvial menggunakan rainfall simulator. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen laboratorium berpendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel tanah yang digunakan berjumlah 14 sampel, terdiri atas 7 sampel tanah aluvial dari dataran rendah dan 7 sampel tanah non-aluvial dari dataran tinggi di Kota Padang. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan rainfall simulator dengan intensitas hujan konstan untuk mengamati perubahan infiltrasi dan runoff terhadap waktu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanah aluvial memiliki laju infiltrasi awal yang lebih tinggi dan mampu menunda pembentukan aliran permukaan dibandingkan tanah non-aluvial. Titik kritis pada tanah aluvial terjadi lebih lambat dibandingkan tanah non-aluvial, yang menandakan kapasitas infiltrasi dan kemampuan menahan air yang lebih baik. Sebaliknya, tanah non-aluvial menunjukkan penurunan infiltrasi yang lebih cepat dan pembentukan runoff yang lebih awal, sehingga lebih rentan terhadap limpasan dan potensi banjir. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik fisik tanah berperan penting dalam menentukan respon hidrologi terhadap hujan dan memiliki implikasi penting dalam perencanaan tata air serta mitigasi risiko banjir.

Abstract

Sungai Batang Surantih di Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan merupakan salah satu wilayah yang rawan mengalami banjir akibat curah hujan tinggi dan kondisi topografi dataran rendah di bagian tengah hingga hilir sungai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan potensi genangan banjir menggunakan pendekatan analisis hidrologi dan pemodelan hidraulika dua dimensi berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dan HEC-RAS. Data yang digunakan meliputi curah hujan harian periode 2013–2022, Digital Elevation Model (DEM), serta data pasang surut air laut. Debit banjir rencana dihitung menggunakan metode Hidrograf Satuan Sintetik Nakayasu untuk kala ulang 50 dan 100 tahun, kemudian disimulasikan dengan aliran tidak tetap (unsteady flow). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan debit puncak sebesar 609,04 m³/s pada kala ulang 50 tahun dan 675,24 m³/s pada kala ulang 100 tahun. Luas genangan banjir masing-masing mencapai 20,22 km² dan 21,45 km², dengan wilayah hilir menjadi area terdampak terbesar. Pemodelan menunjukkan kapasitas sungai tidak mampu menampung debit banjir rencana sehingga terjadi limpasan signifikan. Hasil ini menegaskan pentingnya pemodelan banjir sebagai dasar mitigasi risiko bencana dan perencanaan tata ruang di DAS Batang Surantih.

Abstract

Although soft soil stabilization has been widely studied, research that specifically examines the use of ceramic waste as a subgrade soil stabilization material on the Proyek Pembangunan Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera Ruas Betung (Simpang Sekayu)–Tempino–Jambi Seksi 2B remains limited. This study aimed to analyze the effect of adding ceramic waste on improving the bearing capacity of soft soil based on California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values. A quantitative approach with a laboratory experimental design was employed, using soft soil samples taken at STA 110+600 in Musi Banyuasin Regency through purposive sampling. Ceramic waste was used as a stabilization material with dosage variations of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the soil weight. Data were collected through tests of physical soil properties, standard Proctor compaction, and CBR tests under unsoaked and soaked conditions, then analyzed quantitatively and supported by a One Sample t-test using SPSS software. The results showed that the addition of ceramic waste significantly increased the soil CBR values, with the highest value obtained for the 20% ceramic waste mixture. In addition, ceramic waste was found to reduce soil plasticity and increase the density achieved by compaction. These findings indicate that ceramic waste has the potential to be utilized as a relatively low-cost stabilization material for clayey soils to support more sustainable road construction and provide an empirical basis for the use of construction waste in improving subgrade performance in pavement structures.

Abstract

Studies on water loss in irrigation networks constitute an important issue in efforts to improve the efficiency of agricultural water distribution, but analyses that specifically examine the components of water loss in secondary canals at the local level remain limited. This study aims to analyze the level of water distribution efficiency and identify the magnitude of water loss in the Balai Gadang Secondary Canal in the Koto Tuo Irrigation Area (D.I.), Koto Tangah Subdistrict, Padang City. This study employed a quantitative approach with a field study design through direct measurements in the irrigation canal. Data were collected using a current meter, canal dimension measuring instruments, and field observations, and were then analyzed through calculations of flow discharge, water loss, and conveyance efficiency. The results showed that water loss in segment 1 was 0.136 m³/s (13.85%) and in segment 2 was 0.064 m³/s (11.5%), with seepage as the dominant factor, while evaporation contributed very little. The water conveyance efficiency was 86% and 88.5%, respectively, thus remaining below the 90% efficiency standard. These findings indicate that the physical condition of the canal and water distribution management are the main factors determining the performance of the irrigation system. This study provides a practical contribution to efforts to improve irrigation efficiency through infrastructure improvement and more optimal water management. The implications of this study are expected to serve as a basis for irrigation management policy-making and to open opportunities for further research based on more comprehensive hydraulic analysis.
