Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is an essential skill for students to understand mathematical concepts. Many studies have been conducted regarding this ability, but it is necessary to map existing research to provide a clearer picture of future research topics. This study aims to provide a bibliometric review of trends using mathematical representation skills in mathematics teaching research. The method in this study is bibliometric analysis, which aims to analyze and classify bibliographic material by presenting representative summaries of the literature in the Scopus database. The search was carried out using the keyword "mathematical representation" and selecting "article title" in the search menu in the Scopus.com database. Perish or Publish (PoP) software analyzes the author's name, number of document citations, document title, year of publication, document source, publisher, and document type. The results showed 99 publications and 357 citations related to mathematical representations, where the number of publications and citations fluctuated. The application of learning models and approaches, computer media, and analysis of mathematical representations is a research trend related to this variable. Therefore, paying attention to mathematical representations in learning mathematics and using effective strategies to improve students' mathematical representation abilities is essential. The findings of this study indicate the need to develop syntax and learning media based on mathematical representations to strengthen students' mathematical abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Open Ended Learning (OEL) on the ability to think creative mathematically based on the effect size category, education level, and learning materials. This research method is a meta-analysis by reviewing several journals that have been published online. This study used 15 journals on PBL and 15 journals on OEL related to mathematical creative thinking skills. The instrument in this meta-analysis was carried out with a coding category sheet according to the research variables, namely: the year of the study, the title of the study, the level of education, the material used in the study, also the independent variable and dependent variable of study. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The results of the meta-analysis showed that PBL had a higher effect than OEL on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. Based on the level of education, PBL has more influence on junior high school students, while OEL has more influence on students at high school level. In terms of learning materials, PBL has more influence on SPLDV material than other materials, while OEL has more influence on social arithmetic material. Keywords: mathematical creative thinking ability, meta analysis, Open-Ended Learning, Problem Based Learning. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp112-120

Abstract

The use of teaching materials in the form of learning media is very necessary and play an importan role in the learning process so than learning runs well and effectively. This study aims to produve a Problem Based Learning e-module product that are valid, practical and effective in terms of critical thinking skills. This research uses a 4D development model. The stags of this development research star frome the define, design, develop an disseminate. The subjects of this research were 36  students in clss XI MIPA1 as the experiment class and 35 students in Class XI MIPA2 as the control class at SMAS Yadika Bandar Lampung for the year academic 2022/2023. Research was obtained from validation, questionaires, Practicality questionnaires an critical thinking ability test instrument. Based on the validation results, the product developed is very suitable for use and the responses of educators and students regarding the practicality of the e- module are very practical. The effectiveness of the problem based learning e- modul can be seen from the average N-Gain score 0f 74.98 with effective criteria, and the t test show the sig value of 0.0000 is less than 0.05 so H0 is rejected. The conclusion of this research is that the development product in the form of a Problem Based Learning e-module meets the criteria of being valid, practical and effective in improving students critical thinking skills
