Abstract

This study examines the integration of pesantren traditions with modern higher education at STAI As-Sunnah, an Islamic college in Indonesia. Employing a phenomenological approach, the research analyzes how this institution balances traditional values with contemporary educational demands. Key findings highlight STAI As-Sunnah's success in maintaining a focus on Arabic language learning and Islamic values while offering accredited study programs. However, the study also identifies discourses surrounding gender inclusivity, access to technology, and the balance between tradition and modernity. The study concludes that adopting more inclusive and adaptive approaches, such as blended learning, may help STAI As-Sunnah become an innovative model in Islamic higher education, contributing significantly to the development of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Motivation and attitudes in Arabic language learning are critical factors in determining student success, especially for final-year students preparing to become professional Arabic teachers. This study examines these factors using Gardner's Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) framework in the unique context of the boarding system at STAI As-sunnah Deli Serdang, Indonesia. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed, combining a quantitative AMTB survey (n=120 students, 66.67% of the population) with in-depth qualitative interviews (n=12). Results revealed high levels of both instrumental motivation (M=4.5, SD=0.55) and integrative motivation (M=4.17, SD=0.68). Religious factors emerged as the strongest influence on instrumental motivation (M=4.7, SD=0.48). Key findings revealed the significant role of the boarding system in shaping positive learning attitudes (M=4.2, SD=0.68) through consistent Arabic language exposure and intensive peer interactions. Factor analysis identified five key influences: boarding environment (0.856), teacher quality (0.789), learning facilities (0.745), peer support (0.723), and curriculum (0.698). The implications of this research emphasize the importance of fostering immersive language environments and leveraging religious contexts in developing positive motivation and attitudes in Arabic language learning. The findings are particularly relevant for Islamic higher education institutions preparing prospective Arabic teachers, providing empirical evidence of the boarding system's effectiveness in enhancing students' Arabic competency. The results extend the application of the AMTB framework in Islamic higher education contexts and offer valuable insights for designing more effective Arabic language learning programs.

Abstract

أحد الجوانب التي يتم الاهتمام بها في عالم التعليم هو جانب إبداع المعلم في تعليم طلابه. إن استخدام وسائل التعلم المتنوعة يمكن أن يجعل عملية أنشطة التدريس والتعلم في الفصل الدراسي أكثر إثارة للاهتمام ويمكن أن يزيد من اهتمام الطلاب. هناك الكثير من الوسائط التي يمكن للمعلمين استخدامها عند التدريس في الفصل، ومن بينها استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي كوسيلة للتعلم. الهداف من هذا البحث يعني لمعرفة كفاءة الطلاب في مهارة الكلام لدى طلاب الصف الثاني الثانوي بمعهد سبيل المؤمنين ديلي سردانج قبل استخدام وسيلة التعليم السمعية البصرية (youtube) وبعد استخدامه، ثم لمعرفة فعالية استخدام وسيلة التعليم السمعية البصرية (youtube) في ترقية مهارة الكلام فيه، والمنهج المستخدم هو البحث الميداني الكمي بالنوع التجريبي، والطريقة التحليلية المستعملة هي طريقة إحصائية. والنتيجة من هذا البحث هي وجد الباحث تأثيرا إجابيا بعد استخدام وسيلة التعليم السمعية البصرية (youtube) في ترقية مهارة الكلام، والدليل يعني لأن كانت t0 أكثر من tt وهي ٥،٣٥ > ٢،٠٣ و ٢،٧٣ .فالفرض العدمية مردودة والفرض التبادلية مقبولة. والأخير، استخدام وسيلة التعليم السمعية البصرية (youtube) لها آثار في مهارة الكلام الطلاب.

Abstract

انخفاض درجات المعدل اللغة العربية للطلاب في الصف الأول في مدرسة معلمين ميدان بسبب الملل وعدم وجود اهتمام كبير بمادة اللغة العربية. "تخمين الكلمة" ((Wordle لزيادة جاذبية الطلاب في تعلم اللغة العربية وخاصة في حفظ المفردات. مع النظر في تأثير هذه اللعبة اللغوية على إستيعاب حفظ مفردات في اللغة العربية. والمنهجالمستخدم هو البحث الكمي بالنوع التجريبي والطريقة المستعملة هي طريقة إحصائية. أما النتيجة التي حصلت عليها وهي أن الباحث وجد تأثيرا استخدام اللعبة تخمين الكلمة في إستيعاب حفظ المفردات. ويستدلها الباحث من نتيجة الطلاب على الاختبار القبلي والبعدي، ٢،٠٤ < ١٣،١ > ٢،٧٥. فالفرض التبادلة مقبولة والفرض العدمية مردودة. فموجد تأثير لعبة تخمين الكلمة في استخدامها.

Abstract

This study aims to examine students' understanding of fiqh muamalah terminology in the context of modern Islamic finance. Through a qualitative analysis of survey data collected from students, this study found that the majority of students have a good understanding of fiqh muamalah terms commonly used in Islamic financial transactions. However, there is still a gap in understanding of some more specific terms. The study also showed a positive correlation between proficiency in Arabic and the ability to understand fiqh muamalah terminology. The findings of this study have important implications for the development of Islamic education curricula and the improvement of human resources in the Islamic finance industry.

Abstract

Learning of Arabic grammar in Aliyah madrasahs in Indonesia has not yet achieved the objectives stated in the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs number 183 of 2019. There are at least 2 main orientations designed to be mastered by students in Madrasah Aliyah, namely religious and communication orientations. This research examines the causes of this gap and tries to offer solutions based on relevant theories. The method used is literature research, because, with this method, problems can be traced based on research conducted and published over the past 5 years. The sources of data in this writing are journals, books, and other sources that are considered relevant to research. The causes of not achieving the objectives of learning Arabic, especially Arabic grammar in Indonesia include student background, motivation, teaching materials, teacher ability, and teacher tendency in teaching Arabic. The learning of Arabic grammar in the madrasa aliyah has not yet achieved the goals formulated. The solutions offered related to these problems include: increasing the allocation of learning time, using ideal and sustainable teaching materials, increasing teacher competence, and reviewing and simplifying the formulation of Arabic learning objectives in madrasahs..

Abstract

This study investigates the semantic frames and conceptual constructions of the term رَبّ (rabb/Lord) in the Quran through a cognitive linguistic approach, specifically Frame Semantics (Fillmore, 1982) and Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980). While the concept of rububiyyah has been extensively studied theologically, systematic semantic-cognitive analysis of this fundamental concept remains limited. Using a mixed-methods design, we analyzed 25 representative verses from the Quranic Arabic Corpus through a five-stage frame identification protocol. Six primary semantic frames were identified: Divine_Creation, Divine_Provision, Divine_Guidance, Divine_Sovereignty, Divine_Nurturing, and Divine_Mercy, with significant differences in frame frequency between Makki and Madani revelations (χ²=18.47, p<0.01). Three dominant conceptual metaphors structure the concept of Rabb: RUBUBIYYAH IS NURTURING, RUBUBIYYAH IS SOVEREIGNTY, and DIVINE PROVISION IS DESCENDING. Findings were triangulated with classical tafsir (Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari), five sahih hadiths (Bukhari, Muslim), and Salafi scholarship (Ibn Uthaymin, Ibn Baz), demonstrating that cognitive linguistic methods can enhance semantic understanding of the Quran without compromising theological authenticity.

Abstract

Buku teks bahasa Arab di Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam (PTKI) tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat pembelajaran bahasa, tetapi juga sebagai medium transmisi ideologi dan konstruksi pemahaman keagamaan. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana konsep-konsep keagamaan di-framing dalam buku teks bahasa Arab menggunakan Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) dan Framing Theory. Melalui analisis terhadap tujuh buku teks yang digunakan di PTKI terakreditasi A di Indonesia, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi pola framing pada sepuluh konsep keagamaan utama: tauhid, shalat, jihad, hijab, amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, zakat, riba, iman, ihsan, dan ukhuwah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dominasi tiga pola framing: (1) ortodoksi-skripturalis yang menekankan otoritas klasik; (2) fungsional-praktis yang mengutamakan aplikasi ritual; dan (3) moderat-kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan tradisi dan modernitas. Dari 347 unit analisis yang diidentifikasi, strategi komunikatif didominasi oleh definitional strategies (68%), exemplification strategies (24%), dan argumentation strategies (8%). Analisis ideologi mengungkapkan reproduksi wacana mainstream mazhab Sunni dengan minimnya representasi perspektif alternatif. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan framework analitis untuk kajian buku teks keagamaan dan memberikan rekomendasi praktis untuk pengembangan materi ajar yang lebih kritis dan inklusif.

Abstract

There is no systematic mapping of the latest research in the field of learning Arabic for non-Arabic, in particular, that was published in SCOPUS as the top scientific publication. So often, there is a repetition of research that makes the disappearance of novelty in new research. The study aims at mapping, bothering, analyzing, and synthesizing studies related to learning Arabic for non-Arabic published in SCOPUS over the last five years. This research calls for the SLR or Systematic Literature Review method with a strongly qualitative approach. Data analysis uses bibliometric techniques using the Vos viewer application as a collection and description of the metadata of the last five years of research published by Scopus. It was concluded that Recommendations from this research encompass expanding research in Natural Language Processing (NLP), focusing on preschool stages, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among linguistics, information technology, developmental psychology, and education to formulate comprehensive and responsive approaches to Arabic language education tailored to learners' needs.

Abstract

Digital transformation in Islamic education faces dialectical challenges in maintaining the authenticity of spiritual values while integrating contemporary technological innovations. This study aims to map conceptual networks, analyze temporal trends, and identify research gaps in Islamic digital pedagogy through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. It employs a mixed-methods approach combining a systematic literature review with bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer on 175 keywords from Scopus and Web of Science publications from 2015 to 2024. The Boolean search strategy combines Islamic education terminology with educational technology. The analysis identified three dominant clusters: Cultural-Philosophical Foundation, Tech-Driven Education, and Traditional Islamic Pedagogy. Critical findings reveal a significant disconnect between AI technological innovations (Cluster 5) and the Islamic pedagogical context (Cluster 9), with a distance coefficient of 0.23 (on a scale of 0-1, where 0 indicates a high level of connection and 1 indicates a lack of connection). The temporal evolution shows three distinct phases: Foundation Building (2015–2019), Pandemic Response (2020–2022), and AI Integration Era (2023–2024). Critical research gaps have been identified in the application of generative AI for Islamic content analysis (density 0.12 = very low), virtual reality for Islamic history education (density 0.08 = very low), and AI-assisted Arabic language learning (density 0.18 = low). Density values <0.30 indicate highly under-explored areas. Research fragmentation reveals fundamental epistemological tensions between the Islamic knowledge paradigm and secular technological frameworks. The development of an integrated theoretical framework prioritizing the principles of maqasid al-syariah in evaluating the integration of Islamic educational technology is necessary.
