Abstract

Early childhood teacher education programs must figure out how to effectively educate the workforce as classrooms become more diverse due to children varied cultural backgrounds and skills. This study aims to analyse student involvement in the Strengthening of Early Childhood Educators Teaching Skills course in distance education. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research participants were 405 students of the Department of Early Childhood Education, consisting of 90% women aged between 20-55 years and an average age of 31 years. The research findings show that at the level of academic challenge, most students agree that the ECE Educators Teaching Skills Strengthening (TSS) course brings new ideas and certain experiences and is very helpful in applying theory or concepts to practical problems. Indicators of active/collaborative learning indicate that hands-on experiences help students work more effectively with others. Meanwhile, the student-faculty interaction component shows that they have carried out two-way discussions regarding material assessment and practice. Additionally, online tutorials have provided quick feedback on assignments and guidance in compiling practice reports. The student learning experience is greatly helped by the TSS course. Students acquire new knowledge and skills to support their profession as teachers. Keywords: early childhood educators, engagement, teaching skill, distance education References: Ackerman, D. J. Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of traditional villages in collaborative governance in the Community-Based Total Sanitation Program (STBM) in Tabanan Regency, especially to accelerate the achievement of stop open defecation (SBS) status. Descriptive qualitative methods were used in this study. Locations and informants were selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study indicate that collaborative governance that runs well at the Tabanan Regency level, Selemadeg District, and Wanagiri Kauh Village, is supported by trust, shared commitment, customary regulations (awig-awig/pararem), and synergy between community elements. This collaboration accelerates the achievement of SBS status in the area. On the other hand, in Penebel District and Babahan Village, collaboration with traditional villages has not been optimally formed so that program achievements are slower. Based on the results of the study, it was found that collaborative governance in the program is in accordance with the theory of Ansell and Gash. Indigenous villages play an important role in the pre-triggering, Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) triggering and post-triggering process, thus accelerating the achievement of ODF status in an area.   Keywords: Collaborative Governance, Indigenous Village’s Role, Program Implementation

Abstract

The sea serves as a vital artery for Indonesia’s national economy; however, the high intensity of maritime activities at major ports such as Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, makes the area vulnerable to incidents of theft on board ships. As a preventive effort, the Directorate of Marine Police of the Indonesian National Police launched the Quick Response Program for the Prevention of Theft on Board Ships to enhance maritime security in anchorage areas. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the program’s implementation using the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies involving Polairud personnel, port authorities, ship operators, and maritime service users. The results indicate that, contextually, the program is highly relevant to national maritime security needs; however, its planning remains normative and lacks a comprehensive situational analysis. In the input dimension, limitations in human resources, patrol fleet capacity, and insufficient technical training for approximately 40% of personnel are identified as major constraints. The process dimension reveals weak interagency coordination due to the absence of integrated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which extend the average response time from the ideal 5–10 minutes to 20–30 minutes. Meanwhile, the product dimension shows that although the number of theft cases decreased from 97 in 2022 to 76 in 2023, the program’s long-term effectiveness remains limited due to the absence of a sustainable evaluation and feedback mechanism.
