Abstract

Research has been conducted on the correlation analysis of age, body mass, and exposure factors to Entrance Surface Air Kerma (ESAK) in the Radiology Installation of Andalas University Hospital. The study was conducted by collecting data on adult thorax examination patients over 15 years of age and body mass (60 ± 10) kg in Posterior-Anterior (PA) and Anterior-Posterior (AP) projections for ± 5 months. Patient data used in PA projections are 107 patient data with the Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) method, 9 patient data with manual methods and 10 AP projection patient data with manual methods. Analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that body mass and exposure factors have a very strong relationship with ESAK as indicated by r = 0.805 to 0.990. As body mass and exposure factor increase, the average ESAK received by patients will increase, while age has a weak relationship with ESAK as shown by r = -0,246 to 0,227.

Abstract

A research study has been conducted on the correlation analysis of age, body mass, mAs, and effective dose with Computed Tomography Dose Index Volume (CTDIvol) and Dose Length Product (DLP) in CT-Scan examinations at the Radiology Department of Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital. The research utilized data from adult patients aged 15 years and above with a standard body mass (60 ± 10) kg in non-contrast CT scans of the head, chest, and abdomen, with a total of 586 patients collected over a period of 3 months. The analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation test. The research results indicate that the effective dose has a very high correlation with DLP, with a coefficient of 1 and mAs has a very high correlation with CTDIvol and DLP, with a coefficient of 0,9. Body mass has a relatively high correlation with CTDIvol and DLP, ranging from 0,4 to 0,7 except in head examinations. Age has a moderately significant correlation with CTDIvol and DLP, ranging from 0,1 to 0,5.

Abstract

Neutron calculation simulation with the TMSR-500 conceptual reactor model was carried out for the development of reactivity control in the reactor. The control of reactivity is regulated by the use of a control rod for the shutdown rod and a regulating rod on the reactor. The simulation was carried out using OpenMC computational code and the nuclear data ENDF/B-VII.1. The reactivity value is calculated based on the use scenario of the control rod for each reactor operating condition set with a reactivity margin limit of ≤ 5% dk/k to control reactivity during operation and ≤ 0,5% dk/k during shutdown. The simulation of reactivity control during operation was calculated based on the use scenario of 0% Gd2O3-100% graphite, 25% Gd2O3-75% graphite, 50% Gd2O3-50% graphite, 75% Gd2O3-25% graphite, and 100% Gd2O3-0% graphite. Then, in the shutdown condition, the scenario is set with the use of control rods by Gd2O3 and graphite. The simulation results show that the reactor has an excess reactivity of >5% dk/k. The Control Safety Device (CSD) simulation is able to suppress reactivity ≤ 5% dk/k, but the flux distribution is unevenly distributed. The results of the calculation on the optimization the reactor by the fuel radius with the scenario of using a control rod of 25% graphite-75% Gd2O3 succeeded in controlling the reactivity with a margin of 1,0111±0,00013 (0,108% dk/k). Based on the research, the criticality level of the TMSR 500 is determined by the optimization of the fuel radius and the reactivity can be controlled based on the use scenario of the control rod.
