Abstract

The enhancement of teachers' competencies in industrial automation technology is urgently needed to address the challenges of Industry 4.0. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of the training program Industrial Machine Automation Using Human Machine Interface (HMI) in improving teachers' competencies at SMK Negeri 5 Solok Selatan. The research employed a One Group Pre-test Post-test Design method, with data analysis conducted using the Paired Sample T-Test. A total of 20 teachers participated in the training, which consisted of theoretical sessions, software simulations, and hands-on practice with HMI hardware. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants' competencies, with the average score increasing from 55 in the pre-test to 83.25 in the post-test (p<0.05). The training effectively strengthened participants' conceptual understanding, programming skills, and troubleshooting abilities. Furthermore, the program was deemed relevant to the technological needs of vocational education, supporting the integration of automation technology into the vocational school curriculum. This study concludes that HMI training can serve as a strategic model for teacher competency development, contributing to improving vocational education quality. Recommendations include conducting advanced training sessions, enhancing collaboration with industry, and developing project-based curricula oriented toward modern technologies.

Abstract

The Teaching Factory Industrial Robotics and Automation ( TEFA IRA) at Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) represents an innovative vocational education model integrating practice-based learning with real-world production activities. As an innovation hub, TEFA IRA produces laboratory equipment to support vocational learning, trains vocational high school (SMK) teachers, and enhances student competencies to meet the workforce's demands in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. This study evaluates the productivity of TEFA IRA by analysing operational processes, the impact of teacher training, student learning experiences, product relevance, and collaboration with industry partners. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques with data collected through observation, interviews, surveys, and document analysis. The results indicate that TEFA IRA successfully produced 25 units of laboratory equipment with a 92% success rate. Training for SMK teachers improved their technology mastery scores from 3.2 to 4.1 (on a 5-point scale), while 90% of students reported that their learning experiences were relevant to workforce demands. Collaboration with industry partners reached an active involvement rate of 87%, including contributions to technology and technical training. However, TEFA IRA faces challenges, such as limited specialised expertise, the need for updated training modules, and the optimisation of facilities. Support from Universitas Negeri Padang is essential to address these challenges through strategic policies, facility enhancements, and strengthened industry partnerships. Overall, TEFA IRA has successfully established itself as an innovative and relevant Teaching Factory model for vocational education in Indonesia. This program holds significant potential to be further developed as a pioneer in technology-driven vocational education with global competitiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement in students' learning outcomes and the percentage of mastery learning after implementing the Student Facilitator and Explaining learning model in the Electrical Installation subject at SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat. This research employs a pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research subjects are 30 students of class XI TITL 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest questions that had been validated by experts in the field. Before the implementation of the learning model, students were given a pretest (initial test), while a posttest (final test) was administered after the learning process was completed. The research results indicate that the implementation of the Student Facilitator and Explaining model in the Electrical Installation subject can improve students' learning outcomes. This improvement is evident in the cognitive aspect, as shown by the analysis of pretest and posttest scores using the N-Gain Score formula, which yielded a value of 0.66, categorized as moderate. The percentage of mastery learning also experienced a significant increase, with 90% of students successfully achieving the Minimum Competency Criteria. Thus, the Student Facilitator and Explaining learning model is effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes in the Electrical power Installation subject.

Abstract

Free school lunch policies have been shown to improve student health and well-being in many countries. However, the implementation of these policies in low- and middle-income countries faces significant challenges, including logistical issues, budget constraints, and coordination among stakeholders. This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by countries that have already implemented free lunch programs, with a focus on the lessons learned by Indonesia in preparing a similar policy. This research is a literature review, utilizing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The study focuses on the 10 highest-cited articles from the Scopus database published between 2019 and 2024 that discuss the implementation of free lunch programs in various countries. Document analysis was employed to extract and synthesize key challenges and solutions. Findings show that the main challenges include difficulties with food distribution in remote areas, lack of sustainable budgets, and suboptimal coordination between the government and schools. The implications of the study highlight the importance of strengthening logistics infrastructure and improving coordination across sectors in Indonesia to ensure smooth implementation of the school lunch policy. Future research needs to focus on the long-term impact of the lunch program on academic achievement and innovative logistics models that can be adapted for remote areas in Indonesia.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this study is the mismatch between teachers’ existing competencies and the demands of the industry, particularly in smart building control systems, resulting in graduates lacking these essential skills. This study aims to enhance teachers’ professional competencies in smart building control systems through targeted training using smart building technology. A pre-experimental method was employed with one experimental class consisting of 16 teacher participants, using tests to assess knowledge and questionnaires to evaluate skills. The results were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests and effect size calculations, revealing significant improvements in both teachers’ knowledge and skills after the training. Furthermore, the large effect size indicates that the training had a substantial impact on enhancing competencies. These findings suggest that structured and precise training can effectively improve teachers’ knowledge and skills in emerging industrial technologies, which in turn positively influences the quality of education and increases graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market.

Abstract

Instalasi listrik yang aman dan efisien merupakan prasyarat penting dalam menunjang aktivitas fasilitas publik, termasuk rumah ibadah. Masjid Nurul Wujud di Kelurahan Baringin, Kecamatan Lubuk Kilangan, Kota Padang, yang telah berusia lebih dari 50 tahun, masih menggunakan instalasi lama tanpa pernah dilakukan pemeriksaan sesuai standar Persyaratan Umum Instalasi Listrik (PUIL) dan Peraturan Menteri ESDM No. 12 Tahun 2021. Kondisi ini menimbulkan risiko korslet, kebakaran, serta pemborosan energi. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) yang dilaksanakan oleh Program Studi D3 Teknik Listrik Universitas Negeri Padang bertujuan untuk melakukan instalasi ulang listrik berbasis keamanan dan efisiensi energi, sekaligus memberikan edukasi kepada pengurus masjid dan jamaah. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survei kondisi awal instalasi, perencanaan teknis berupa penyusunan single line diagram, pelaksanaan instalasi ulang (penggantian kabel sesuai SNI, pemasangan panel listrik baru dengan MCB dan ELCB, sistem grounding < 5 Ω, penggantian 30 titik lampu dengan LED hemat energi, serta penambahan 10 titik stop kontak berstandar SNI), serta kegiatan edukasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa instalasi listrik masjid kini lebih rapi, aman, dan efisien. Dari aspek sosial, jamaah memperoleh lingkungan ibadah yang lebih nyaman; dari aspek pendidikan, mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman penerapan ilmu kelistrikan sekaligus soft skills; sedangkan dari aspek ekonomi, efisiensi energi menurunkan biaya operasional masjid. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi nyata terhadap pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), khususnya SDG 7 (Energi Bersih dan Terjangkau), SDG 11 (Kota dan Permukiman Berkelanjutan), dan SDG 17 (Kemitraan untuk Tujuan). Dengan demikian, instalasi ulang listrik Masjid Nurul Wujud tidak hanya merupakan intervensi teknis, tetapi juga strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat yang relevan dengan kebijakan energi nasional serta dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain dengan kondisi serupa.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya keterampilan guru dan siswa Jurusan Teknik Elektronika Industri  SMK Negeri 1 Sungai Limau dalam bidang Robotika, khususnya pembuatan Robot Line Follower. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya sarana dan prasarana yang dimiliki sehingga berdampak rendahnya kualitas lulusan yang dihasilkan. Keahlian dalam bidang robotika merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang harus dimiliki oleh lulusan Jurusan Teknik Elektronika Industri.  Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan dan keahlian dalam membuat Robot Line Follower untuk guru dan siswa yang mengikuti pelatihan ini. kegiatan dilakukan selama tiga hari dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 12 orang. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah, demonstrasi, praktek dan evaluasi. Ada 2 jenis evaluasi yang dilakukan yaitu pre test dan post test. Pre test dilaksanakan sebelum kegiatan pelatihan dimulai. Post test dilakukan setelah semua kegiatan pelatihan selesai dilaksanakan. Hasil dari pelatihan menunjukan nilai sig. (2-Tailed) pre test ke post test sebesar 0,018 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,001 (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan pelatihan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan peserta dalam pembuatan Robot Line Follower.

Abstract

In the growing digital era, online academic guidance and counseling is a practical solution in supporting students in achieving student academic success. This article aims to explore the level of student satisfaction with academic guidance and counseling provided online by academic supervisors in the Electrical Engineering Study Program at Padang State University. The research method in this study uses a quantitative approach with a questionnaire instrument. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicate a fairly high level of satisfaction from students towards academic guidance and counseling conducted by academic supervisors online. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for universities in understanding the needs of students related to guidance and counseling in the digital era. This research opens up future research opportunities to develop a more interactive and user-friendly platform to support online academic guidance and counseling.

Abstract

Vocational high schools are schools that provide workers who have knowledge and skills in their respective fields. The Industrial Electronics Engineering Department is a department that provides competent workforce in the field of robotics. Payakumbuh State Vocational School 2 majoring in Industrial Electronics Engineering is experiencing problems implementing robotics learning. The problem is that schools do not yet have robotic training kits that can be used like robots in industry. Schools only have robotic training kits that can be used to understand the basic input and output uses of robots and cannot be used practically with robots in industry. Based on these problems, the aim of this research is to develop a mobile robotic training kit that is practical and can be used from basic learning to learning complex robots such as industrial applications. The research method used in this research is the research and development (R&D) method. So the results obtained in this research are a mobile robotic training kit which is considered very practical by teachers with a percentage of 88.95%. It can be concluded that the mobile robotic training kit is very practical to use in the robotics learning process

Abstract

The issuance of Permendikbud No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education Standards (SN-DIKTI) encourages Study Programs in Higher Education to review their curriculum. The implementation of the MBKM program for Undergraduate and Applied Undergraduate Programs has an impact on the learning process where students are given the right to take their studies in three semesters outside their study program. The D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program at Padang State University is one of the study programs that has implemented the MBKM curriculum since 2021. However, so far no evaluation has been carried out either of the completeness of the curriculum documents or the implementation of the MBKM curriculum itself. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in qualitative research are observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results obtained in this study are the completeness of the 81.8% Industrial Electrical Engineering D4 Study Program curriculum documents with details of 54.5% of the curriculum documents can be shown in writing and 27.3% cannot be shown in writing. The remaining 18.2% of curriculum documents do not exist / complete. Until now, the D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program has only carried out 1 type of MBKM activity / activity, namely Internships / Work Practices. In 2022 the number of students who participated in MBKM Internships / Work Practices amounted to 99 out of 458 students with a percentage of 21.62%. Meanwhile, for 2023 the number of students who participated in Internships / Practical Work was 102 out of 364 students with a percentage of 28.02%. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the completeness of documents and the implementation of MBKM in the D4 Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program has gone well and is in accordance with applicable regulations.
