Abstract

Interdepartmental work communication is a crucial factor in supporting smooth hotel operations and improving the quality of service to guests. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of communication between the Front Office and Housekeeping departments at the Sapphire Boutique Hotel Kudus. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews and observations of 13 staff from both departments. The results of the study showed that 61.5% of respondents considered interdepartmental communication to be quite effective, especially in routine activities such as the check-in process and laundry services. However, several obstacles were found such as delays in delivering information, differences in perception, and lack of written communication media. These obstacles risk reducing the speed and accuracy of service to guests. Solutions that have been implemented include daily briefings, the use of WhatsApp Group, and recording through log books. However, the effectiveness of communication is not optimal because there is no standard communication SOP and interdepartmental communication training. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening a structured communication system, using appropriate media, and improving staff communication skills to support efficient work coordination and maximum guest service

The research employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with nine informants, consisting of cashiers, store attendants, and logistics/warehouse staff. The findings reveal that organizational culture significantly influences employee motivation levels, although perceptions vary across divisions. Abstract

This study focuses on improving digital literacy and formal Indonesian language proficiency among the Indonesian diaspora community in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The community faces challenges in adapting to digital technology and maintaining linguistic and cultural identity, which limits their socio-economic participation and engagement in community activities. The objective of this research is to develop and implement a community-based program that enhances digital skills while promoting national language usage and cultural preservation. The program employed a participatory and interactive approach, including workshops, hands-on practice, mentoring, role-play, and storytelling, targeting 30 participants comprising youth, MSME actors, teachers, village officials, and housewives. Pre-test and post-test evaluations, direct observation, and interviews were used to assess the impact of the program. The results show significant improvements in digital literacy, with participants demonstrating enhanced skills in e-mail usage, document sharing, e-wallet applications, and digital security awareness, with post-test gains ranging from 40% to 45%. Likewise, proficiency in formal Indonesian language, public speaking, and cultural knowledge increased by 25% to 28%, reflecting both technical and cultural skill development. The findings indicate that community-based, participatory learning integrated with cultural reinforcement effectively bridges the digital divide and strengthens linguistic identity among diaspora communities. The study concludes that such a hybrid model not only empowers participants in digital and linguistic capacities but also promotes cultural sustainability and social cohesion, offering a scalable and replicable framework for similar communities.

Abstract

Non-formal education through training and course institutions (LKP) plays a strategic role in equipping young generations with skills that meet global labor market demands. One of the most promising fields is foreign language learning, particularly Japanese, considering the growing cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in education, industry, and employment. This study focuses on the optimization of human resource management (HRM) as a key determinant of the success of LKP Akeno Gakuen Indonesia in developing Japanese language proficiency, especially in addressing the characteristics of Generation Z who tend to be less resilient, risk-averse, and demand interactive, technology-based learning methods. This research employed a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that HRM optimization through competency-based recruitment, instructor training, and digital learning innovation significantly improves students’ motivation, discipline, and satisfaction. Attendance increased from 70% to 85%, learning motivation from a score of 60 to 82, and student satisfaction from 62% to 78%. These results highlight that adaptive HRM is the key to the successful management of language institutions in responding to the challenges posed by Generation Z learners.

Abstract

Research aims to evaluate the quality of foreign language services provided to foreign tourists visiting the Old City of Semarang, a tourism destination that is increasingly in demand. This research uses a qualitative approach with various methods, including case studies, indepth interviews with foreign tourists, content analysis, participant observation, document analysis and data triangulation. The research results revealed that the majority of foreign tourists were impressed with foreign language services in the Old City of Semarang. They shared positive stories about interactions with officers who tried to help in a foreign language, which made them feel welcome and comfortable. Another positive experience involves the ability to explore the culture and history of the city through smooth interactions with local residents who are fluent in foreign languages. However, a number of foreign tourists also face obstacles, especially in terms of communication, navigation and understanding cultural differences. Some of the recommendations given by foreign tourists include increasing language training for officers, providing more information materials in foreign languages, improving navigation, cultural exchange programs, use of technology, tourist feedback channels, and increasing cooperation between stakeholders. This research has important implications for improving the tourism sector and local economy. Improving foreign language services in the Old City of Semarang can increase tourist satisfaction, result in repeat visits, positive recommendations, and a positive contribution to the city's economic growth. Therefore, language training, provision of information materials, improved navigation, promotion of culture, technology, feedback channels, and cooperation between stakeholders are key steps in achieving this goal.
