Abstract

Berastagi, Karo Regency is one of the tourist areas in North Sumatra Province as the largest producer of fruit and flowers in North Sumatra. Some flowers that grow in Berastagi such as Chrysanthemum, Sedap Malam, Mawar, Gerberra make a dominant contribution to the total flower production in North Sumatra. Berastagi needs a place that becomes the center for accommodating commercial, educational and recreational activities for the community that can fulfill the needs of flowers, flower cultivation, and flower arrangement services. The method used in this design uses Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach by applying the principles and architectural elements that exist in the Batak Karo traditional house by adding modern elements in, expected to produce a form of appearance of the building in a new form but still maintain the existence of local culture. The concept used is the transformation of the concept Harmony in Diversity, which is expected to display different types of flowers that are tidy and harmonious for commercial, recreational and educational functions that are adapted to the karo traditional buildings that have different functions in one village with family among the communities interwoven harmoniously .Keyword: Neo-Vernacular Architecture, Berastagi, Batak Karo, Flower

Abstract

The Tourism Vocational High School with Le Corbusier's Design Principles Approach is a forum that holds formal school activities based on tourism vocational practices to face the professional world, in accordance with Le Corbusier's design principles. Le Corbusier, the originator of modern architectural styles, has a functional and simple view in the application of architectural design. Le Corbusier's architectural style will support the building function of the Vocational Tourism School as a school and implement simplicity. This design aims to be able to support teaching and learning activities of Vocational Tourism that are based on practice. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of this study design a building that accommodates Vocational Tourism teaching and learning activities with Le Corbusier's design principle approach in terms of functional forms in accordance with their functions as schools, applying simplicity, and applying other Le Corbusier design principles and creating buildings that are in accordance with the rules precedent architecture of Le Corbusier.Keywords: Le Corbusier, Precedent Architecture, Tourism Vocational High School

Abstract

Pekanbaru as the capital city of Riau Province which is growing rapidly has a community that has a high appreciation of the development of the world of sports today, for example is bodybuilding sports. But the people of Pekanbaru City do not yet have adequate fitness and leisure center facilities and need them to fulfill their sports activities in addition to using their free time to be more positive and beneficial. The application of Futuristic Themes used in the design of the Fitness and Leisure Center is in the background by building functions that are in accordance with the character of the development of knowledge about healthy lifestyles and the technology of the tools used to support the building's function where this is in accordance with Futuristic principles that are in line with development technology with increasingly advanced technology, futuristic existence will also grow.Keyword: Bodybuilding, Fitness and Leisure Centre, Futuristic, Technology

Abstract

Pelalawan currently does not have facilities that can accommodate the visitors in large quantities to conduct an activity in the form of exhibitions or promotions for the introduction and develop the potential of the area. Developments in the world of trade, industry, tourismand agriculture are the points for development that bring foreign exchange in Pelalawan. The presence of Pelalawan Convention and Exhibition Centre in hopes of fulfilling the needs ofthe event organizers will be wider place, add value to the community and as a place to gather business people and provide facilities For Convention and exhibition activities. The researchmethods on this design are by conducting data collection, library studies and empirical studies. The concept of the conception based on the observation method of the design function is the Convention as a symbol of mutual agreement in cooperation relationship both parties. This building is designed with the approach of contemporary architecture in order to display the imagery and identity of Pelalawan regency with an attractive design to be a symbol of the grandeur of the building Pelalawan Convention and Exhibition Centre. The main facilities of this building are the Convention hall, Exhibition hall, as a place to gatherthe visitors and business people. Abstract

The design of Islamic Boarding School is meant to fulfill Islamic education needs. This design aims to accommodate public education and Islamic facilities which there are education levels of Mts and MA. This Islamic Boarding School facility be able add a place of Islamic education in Lubuk Sikaping. This design uses the approach of Organic Architecture. The approach is applied partly or overall on buildings. Organic Architecture paying attention to the environment collaboration with the site. This approach is accordance with Islamic Boarding School which is Islamic Education, where Islam teaches about nature and environment.The same is true in education that learns from nature and environment. Root is the basic concept of design that can connect education, Islam and organic. The concept obtained by the site is in a relatively contoured area, which has the same characteristic of the root such as free, besides it in the site there are also many trees. Roots is the most prominent thing on the site. The form and some of the characteristics of the root are the inspiration in designing a boarding school. The elongated characteristic of the root is the inspiration for building masses which is analogous to rectangles, where of the nine building masses there is no similar shape. The nature of the root that rests on one point is the inspiration for circulation where the mosque becomes the focal point of all activities. Abstract

The center of medicinal plants is a center that accommodates facilities in the form of educational and recreational facilities related to the cultivation and development of herbal or traditional medicinal plants. . Lately, in modern life, there are unhealthy habits such as consuming ready-to-eat foods that have an adverse effect on those foods that have preservatives, when sick people go to doctors whose medicines are derived from chemicals. So that the center of this medicinal plant is an effort to preserve ancestral culture in an effort to utilize medicinal plants in Pekanbaru as a safe traditional treatment without side effects. The center of medicinal plants in Pekanbaru uses an organic architecture approach which is an architectural philosophy that promotes harmony between human habitation and nature, so that in the center of this medicinal plant the building uses materials from nature, colors in harmony with nature, maximizing the potential of the site, not changing the nature ingredients. The center of medicinal plants in Pekanbaru uses the concept of life from nature which is applied in harmony with the theme. Abstract

Kengo Kuma was one of Japanese architects who based on design principles has always conscribed to human and natural interconnections to try a balance. Some of predominant characters of the Kuma are Transcendence, Passivity, Particilization , Temporality , and Subject- Object Relationship. Today one of the phenomena that still exixts is women’s chance inequality. Women’s opportunity building is a place in handling activities of coaching, empowerment and women’s protection. The concepts of the building is Hitoe (the name of the cherry blossoms which has five petals), selection of the concepts based on a Kuma’s who always inspired from nature. Abstract

Rapid development of Pekanbaru City requires human resources that have certain quality. In order to form a well-developed human resources that contain good intellectual and spiritual values,it requires a well-developed educational system as well. A system where both of general and religion education given to the students can be found in modern islamic boarding school. Modernislamic boarding school is a place for preparing its students to be a well-educated person who can be an islamic leader through society, education and good deeds. The transformation method was used in the design, was tropical architectural approach. Modern islamic boarding school was designed using the concept of bee hive. The bee hive concept was applied through thetransformation using the closure of analogical of the shape and characteristic of the bee hive in masses forming and landscape pattern design of the school. The Tropical Architectural principlewas applied in the design of the modern islamic boarding school through the building's mass; the orientation, vegetation, opening, roof types, and colours. Abstract

The dynamics of graphic design activities are always closely related to technological developments and creative industry. In this digital era, people are more interested in visual information. Not a few of the people who are interested in pursuing the world of creative industries, one of them is graphic design. Graphic design is able to provide opportunities for the formation of new professions and create design ideas that support the progress of the creative industry. Pekanbaru is one of the right locations to built a Graphic Design Education and Training with the aim of attracting the interest of the community to develop creativity and skills in the field of graphic design. So that the community is able to create their potential to work and even compete competently. The Graphic Design Education and Training is a forum that accommodates inspiration and studies the science of graphic design as a skill, as well as a demand. Graphic design emphasizes expressive creativity, so Expressionist Architecture completes the identity and character of the building of Graphic Design Education and Training. Besides having educational goals, this design also displays visuals that are able to express imagination. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of designed with the Infinity concept which adopted the form and meaning of the application principles from Expressionist Architecture. The attractive form of the building, the atmosphere of the form created by the use of building colors that inspire enthusiasm, and use of variative elements of material that play a role in conveying the message of the building's meaning. Abstract

West Sumatra is one of the Province in Sumatra Island and Padang as capital City.West Sumatra has lots of potencies such as natural resources and human resources that show highest culture value and local wisdom. Nowaday, era globalization gives impact to degradation of social morality. Then it have decreased care and enthusiasm about local art and culture. Therefore, aim of this research to design West Sumatra Culture Center that include laboratory and display of art culture. Padang is the right choice for the site of culture center because good potency and strategic location, historic value, and culture haritage city. Minangkabau Culture Center is designed by emphasis Neo Vernacular architecture that focuses on shape of mass. Design strategy such as site analycis, room programming, zoning, shape of mass, landscape, interior, and facade. The result of this research is to produce a design of Minangkabau Culture Center that represents minangkabau lokal wisdom itself, especially Rumah Gadang in modern movement.Key words; Culture Center, Minangkabau, Neo Vernacular, Padang.
