Abstract

An absorption measurement working in ATR (Attenuated Total Reflection) mode has been design for characterization of concentrate dye solution. The system consists of a visible light system as polychromatic wave source, an ATR plate made up from glass or polymer, a spectrometer with a CCD detector. The system is connected to a computer for measurement and data processing. Some commercial inks measured by this ATR system showed absorption spectra which are in agreement with the color of the inks. The absorption parameter will be determined from the incident and reflection beam intensities measured at incident angle larger than the critical angle. We have also carried out Poynting vector analysis and we will show that the energy flow in the normal direction of the interface is not zero. The energy flow, however, decreases along the normal direction of the interface, indicating energy loss due to light absorption in the sample medium. The amount of energy loss depends on the attenuation index or absorption parameters, which is important for formulating the relation between the measured intensities and absorption parameters.

Abstract

A scalable parallel program for burnup analysis of long-life fast reactor has been succesfully built. The scalability test was conducted by comparing the program performance on dual-core and quad-core platforms. The best speedup gain were 1.72 on dual core 2.0 GHz, 3.58 on quad-core 2.4 GHz and 3.05 on quad-core 3.2 GHz. The slight drop of the speedup on quad-core 3.2 GHz could be well explained in connection with communication-time needed in running parallel version of the program.

Abstract

The shifting of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) wavelength has been observed during in situ measurement in polymer light emitting diode (pLED). Examination is performed using an pLED sample which has an ITO/PEDOT:PSS/MEH-PPV/Au structure. When the voltage bias is increased from 0 to 9 volt the SPR wavelength shifts from 612 nm to 628 nm and the absorption curve shifts to lower absorbance value. From the theoretical analysis, it can be understood that the change of the SPR dip and the absorption curves correspond to the change of dielectric constant of the MEH-PPV layer. These results show that SPR wavelength depends on the metal and air dielectric constant as well as on the MEH-PPV layer. These results also imply that the SPR wavelength being evaluated can be controlled by varying the voltage bias.

Abstract

Levitation Mass Method (LMM) is the method as a material tester to evaluate the mechanical response of general objects against impact forces. In this method, a mass is made to collide with material to be tested and the impulse, i.e. the time integration of the impact force, is measured highly accurately as a change in momentum of the mass. To realize linear motion with sufficiently small friction acting on the mass, a pneumatic linear bearing is used. The inertial force acting on the mass is calculated from the velocity of the mass. The velocity is determined, highly accurately by means of measuring the Doppler shift frequency of a laser light beam reflected on the mass using an optical interferometer. To determine the Doppler frequency shift for LMM data processing, the method for estimating the frequency is necessary. Several methods have been developed to estimate the frequency for the LMM data processing with high accuracy, i.e. Zero-Crossing Average Method (ZAM), Zero-Crossing Fitting Method (ZFM), Sine Wave Fitting, and Zero-crossing Sine Wave Fitting. All methods realized using the zero-crossing point of the waveform obtained from the digitizer. A better method to estimate frequency on the digitized waveform will enable higher precision for a more accurate result. In this research, a new method that can improve the accuracy has been developed. The program was developed using data segmentation to obtain the frequency of the digitized waveforms. The developed program has the smallest error ( 1,98 X 10^-10 for N= 200) compare to other methods (2,31 X 10-3 for ZAM; 1,10X10-3 for ZFM; and 8,69 X10-4 for Zero-crossing Sine Wave Fitting).

Abstract

In preliminary research, a system for detecting the flow rate of the gas mixture (N2 and CO2) has been successfully built using acoustic measurements. This detector consists of a speaker as a transmitter of ultrasonic waves, and 3 microphones as a receiver of the ultrasonic waves. The quantity measured in this detection system test is the phase difference of the ultrasonic waves captured by the left and right microphones. The flow rate of the gas mixture will affect the phase difference value between the left and right microphones. With the increase of the flow rate of the gas mixture, the phase difference between the two microphones will increase. The flowrate range tested was between 0 and 0.8 l/min, with a concentration of 20% CO2 in the gas mixture of N2 and CO2. In testing this detection system, the absolute error is 2,4 10-2 l/min.

Abstract

In this research, an acoustic sensor has been successfully built to measure the concentration of CO2 gas in a mixture of gases (N2 and CO2). The nitrogen and carbon dioxide gases used are ultra-high purity (UHP) gas. The measurement parameter used is the speed of sound by utilizing the phase shift between ultrasonic wave signals that are sent and received continuously. The acoustic method in this research is by using the speaker as an ultrasonic wave transmitter, and the microphone as an ultrasonic wave receiver emitted by the speaker on the gas medium. This acoustic phase shift method is very sensitive to be used to determine the speed of sound on a gas medium. From the sensor testing, the sensor has good linearity in detecting changes in CO2 concentration in the gas mixture. The sensor test results have been validated theoretically and obtained an RMS error of 3.36 (3.36% with a maximum concentration of 100%), this proves that the work of the sensor is in accordance with the theory. In addition to theoretical validation, the work of the sensor has also been validated by looking at the direct relationship between sensor input and output through the inverse function, and an RMS error of 3.51 (3.51% with a maximum concentration of 100%) is obtained. From the overall results obtained, the acoustic CO2 gas sensor that is built can detect changes in CO2 concentrations in the gas mixture accurately, fabrication of the sensor is easy to do, and the costs required in the manufacturing process are cheap.

Abstract

Abstract

Agricultural Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in maintaining national food security. In terms of sources of economic growth, the agricultural sector is the largest contributor to West Java's economic growth in the first quarter of 2021. The agricultural business sector contributed as much as 0.94%, greater than its contribution in the fourth quarter of 2020 which amounted to 0.39%. MSMEs still have external and internal constraints, especially in terms of financing, product marketing, and lack of access to information. These constraints often hinder MSMEs in developing their business and expanding their market share. From various cases of marketing agricultural MSME products in West Java, it is necessary to implement technology to market agricultural commodities. One of them is a map application, which is useful in providing the location of agricultural MSMEs and how to reach that location from the customer's current location. So that sellers/farmers and buyers can do direct transactions. Therefore, map applications using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) can be used as the alternative technology to solve that problem. While, this research only focuses on generating the map. UAV - DJI Phantom 4 Pro has been used in this research to take images at each location of the sample locations. To control the UAV automatically for each mission, it used Pix4D capture flight plans. The data were processed by Agisoft Metashape Professional software. The location of image data collection was carried out in various areas: a building, an open space area and a real small and medium agriculture enterprises location. Two-dimensional maps and 3D maps of these areas have been successfully created. The average RMS error is 0.17 (2.88 pixels) indicating under 1% of the average error.
