Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the flipped classroom learning model on junior high school students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of eighth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. The research instrument was a mathematical critical thinking skills test based on interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation indicators. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test, then analyzed using the t-test. The results showed a significant difference in mathematical critical thinking skills between students taught using the flipped classroom model and those taught with conventional learning. The flipped classroom model positively influences students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in improving students’ creative thinking skills. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students of MTS Arrahmah NW Pringgarata in the 2024/2025 academic year. Samples were selected using purposive sampling, with class VIII A as the experimental group taught using CTL and class VIII B as the control group taught using conventional methods. The instrument used was a creative thinking test based on the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, which had been validated and proven reliable. Data were analyzed through normality, homogeneity, independent t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The findings revealed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean score (80.92) compared to the control group (66.12). The t-test showed a significance value < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, CTL is effective in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills, particularly in learning Pythagorean Theorem.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of stakeholder participation and institutional coordination on the effectiveness of adaptive coastal governance in Bulukumba. Subjects and Methods: A quantitative explanatory design was employed using a cross-sectional survey of key stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and NGOs. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression to assess relationships and predictive effects. Results: The findings reveal that both stakeholder participation and institutional coordination have significant positive effects on governance effectiveness, with participation emerging as the stronger predictor. The model demonstrates substantial explanatory power, indicating that governance outcomes are shaped by the interaction of relational and institutional factors. Participation enhances inclusiveness, legitimacy, and adaptive capacity, while coordination ensures policy coherence and implementation consistency. Conclusions: Effective adaptive coastal governance requires the integration of meaningful stakeholder engagement and strong institutional coordination to achieve resilient, responsive, and sustainable governance systems.

Abstract

Phenolic compounds are a major type of secondary metabolite found in plants. These compounds are synthesized through shikimic and phenylpropanoid pathways, resulting in the formation of numerous unique structures and bioactivities. In addition, a significant amount has been reported in nutmeg, an endemic plant of Indonesia, which has been widely used in traditional medicine. A previous study also revealed that ethyl acetate extract of the plant has notable cytotoxic effects against melanoma B16-F10. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to isolate and evaluate phenolic compounds in nutmeg for their potential to inhibit B16-F10 melanoma cancer cell growth. The seeds extract of nutmeg was separated by various chromatographic techniques to yield a total of five compounds, which were identified through spectroscopic analysis (HR-TOF-ESI-MS, IR, and NMR) as well as comparison with literature. The compounds 1-5 were identified as (+)-veraguensin (1), 3',4',5'-trimethoxycinnamyl alcohol (2), (+)-galbegin (3), (-)-polysphorin (4), and 7-methoxycoumarin (5). Cytotoxic effects were then assayed against B16-F10 melanoma cell lines using the Resazurin method. Furthermore, compound 1 displayed the highest cytotoxic activity, with an IC50 value of 112.71 µM.

Abstract

A comfortable learning climate plays a crucial role in improving the quality of instruction and students’ learning outcomes in elementary schools. This study aims to analyze how a supportive, safe, and engaging learning environment contributes to instructional quality and enhances students’ academic achievement. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted at an elementary school in Banda Aceh. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and school principals, and analysis of instructional documents. The findings indicate that a comfortable learning climate characterized by positive teacher–student interactions, inclusive classroom management, adequate learning facilities, and emotional support significantly improves teachers’ instructional practices and students’ learning motivation. Furthermore, students demonstrated higher participation, better understanding of learning materials, and improved learning outcomes. The study concludes that creating a comfortable learning climate is a strategic effort to enhance instructional quality and optimize students’ learning outcomes in elementary education. These findings provide practical implications for teachers and school leaders in designing learning environments that support effective and meaningful learning.
