Abstract

The fluctuating price of potatoes every year as well as the high costs of distribution, storage, and maintenance mean that farmers earn less profit than expected. The research aims to analyze supply chain management, marketing efficiency, and potato supply chain risks. The research was carried out in September 2023 in Pakis and Ngablak Districts, Magelang Regency. This research uses a survey method with a descriptive approach. Determining the institutional sample uses snowball sampling while the farmer sample uses Cluster Sampling or Multistage Random Sampling method. The pattern of flow of information, finances, and goods runs smoothly. In the calculation of the farmer's share of large-grade potato commodities obtained at the research location, channel I was 84.61%, channel II was 85.71% and channel III was 80.00%, including in the efficient category. The farmer's share grade value was obtained by channel I at 75.00%, channel II at 77.77%, including in the efficient category, channel III at 70%, including in the inefficient category. The small farmer's share grade value obtained by channel I was 71.42%, channel II was 75%, which was included in the efficient category and channel III was 66.66%, which was not included in the efficient category. There are 23 risk agents and 15 risk events in the potato supply chain in Ngablak and Pakis Districts, Magelang Regency. Phase 1 HoR analysis provides results based on the Pareto diagram that there are 3 priority risk agents, namely crop failure, potatoes damaged in transit, and natural factors or disasters.

Abstract

Rice farming is closely related to climate and weather in the business process, especially the on-farm process in the crop area. Climate risk in rice farming is closely related to the occurrence of floods, droughts, and attacks of Plant Disturbing Organisms (OPT). Therefore, it is necessary to overcome uncertainty to protect farmers and their farms, namely agricultural insurance. Agricultural insurance shows partiality to farmers to anticipate the risk of farming losses. Sragen Regency is one of the rice production centers in Central Java Province, so its farms need to be protected from risks through Rice Farming Insurance (AUTP). The purpose of this study is to analyze farmers' behavior in conducting rice farming through their risk preferences in Sragen Regency. The research was conducted using the survey method. Data were collected by interview technique using questionnaires. The number of samples taken from 100 rice farmers in Sragen Regency from three representative Sub-districts with specific criteria, namely Tanon Sub-district, Sidoharjo Sub-district, and Sambirejo Sub-district. The population in this study are rice farmers who participated in the Rice Farming Insurance (AUTP) program from 2018 to 2020. Data analysis uses the Multiple Price List (MPL) approach. Some previous studies analysing farmers' willingness to pay premiums in the AUTP programme have not included farmers' risk preference factors in the analysis. In addition, there is no research that discusses farmers' willingness to pay for AUTP premiums in Sragen Regency. Therefore, this research is expected to be a literature study in formulating strategies related to the implementation of the AUTP programme in the future by considering farmers' risk preferences, especially in Sragen Regency. The results showed that rice farmers in Sragen Regency have a very risk-averse risk preference, which means that they are risk-averse individuals when farming. Therefore, the Rice Farming Insurance (AUTP) program can be utilized by farmers as a form of risk mitigation implementation in their farming operations.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to analyze the risk of DOC (X1), feed (X2) and broiler (X3) prices and their influence on the growth of small broiler chicken farms in Indonesia (Y). This study was conducted by taking data on DOC, feed and broiler prices for the period 2017-2024 (Pre-COVID19, Post-COVID19 and Present) as well as broiler chicken population data nationally in Indonesia from the 2017-2022 range as a dependent variable approach, namely the number of active livestock in Indonesia and trend projection of the number of livestock in 2023 and 2024. The research method used was secondary data research using data from the website of  the Directorate General of PKH (Livestock and Animal Health) of the Ministry of Agriculture, SIMPONI-Ternak, and BPS. The data analysis method used in this study uses Standard Deviation (SD), Coefficient of Variance (CV), trend projection and multiple linear regression analysis to see how large the affect of independent variable towards dependent variable. The dependent variable data processing approach uses the number of broiler chicken populations in Indonesia based on BPS data, assuming based on the Livestock Household Survey (2014) that per livestock business household business in Indonesia with livestock control of 16.000 broiler chicken populations. The results of the risk calculation obtained the result of feed prices having the highest coefficient of variance with a value of 21.94% in the current period. Meanwhile, the results of multiple linear regression obtained results only in 2017-2019 (Pre-COVID19) where feed variables affected the growth of small broiler chicken farm entrepreneurs in Indonesia, while in the Post-COVID19 and Present period, DOC price variables, feed prices and selling prices did not affect the growth of broiler chicken farm small entrepreneurs in Indonesia. As well as the projection trend of the number of active livestock in 2023 and 2024 is increasing.
