Abstract

Continuity of Care (COC) is an integrated service approach aimed at improving maternal and infant health from pregnancy through family planning. This case study aims to describe the implementation of COC for Mrs. D at PMB Sri Winarti. The method used was qualitative with a comprehensive case study approach, covering third trimester pregnancy care, childbirth, newborn care, postpartum care, and contraception. The results showed that all stages of care took place physiologically without complications. Antenatal examination showed a hemoglobin level of 12 g/dl, reflecting good nutritional status. The mother experienced mild edema in the lower extremities, but normal blood pressure and a negative urine reduction test, thus not indicating preeclampsia. The delivery process was spontaneous and safe, the baby was born healthy and Early Initiation of Breastfeeding was carried out. During the postpartum period, minor complaints were overcome through self-care education and breathing relaxation. At the end of the postpartum period, the mother chose a three-monthly injectable contraceptive that is safe for breastfeeding mothers. It was concluded that the implementation of Continuity of Care was running optimally and had a positive impact on the well-being of the mother and baby and the quality of midwifery services.

Abstract

Prolonged labor is potentially dangerous for the mother and fetus. This can be prevented by stimulating the release of the hormone oxytocin to increase uterine contractions so that prolonged labor does not occur. So a tool is needed to stimulate the hormone oxytocin which is made as comfortable as possible. Apart from helping speed up the process of the first stage of labor, this tool can also stimulate the release of the hormone prolactin to help milk production. This system was designed using the Arduino Uno microcontroller type ESP8266, working to stimulate the nipples through vibration. From the results of this study it was found that the vibrations produced could help stimulate the release of the hormone oxytocin so that the first stage of labor took place 72.40% faster than the old theory of the first stage of labour. Highlights: Prolonged labor risks: Emphasizes the potential danger for both mother and fetus in cases of prolonged labor. Oxytocin stimulation: Highlights the importance of stimulating oxytocin release to prevent prolonged labor and promote uterine contractions. Arduino Uno and nipple vibration: Introduces the specific tool designed using Arduino Uno microcontroller and nipple vibration for oxytocin stimulation during labor. Keywords: prolonged labor, oxytocin stimulation, Arduino Uno, nipple vibration, faster labor

Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between nutritional status and menstrual cycle regularity in female adolescents at SMAN 4 Blitar. Using a cross-sectional analytic survey with 47 randomly selected respondents, data were collected through observation and interviews in January 2023. The Chi-Square test results showed no significant relationship (p = 0.16) between nutritional status and menstrual cycle regularity. The findings suggest that while most adolescents had regular cycles and normal nutrition, factors like stress, activity, and diet may also play a role. Educators should continue menstrual health education, and students should maintain balanced nutrition and healthy habits. Highlight: No significant link between nutrition and menstrual regularity (p = 0.16). Most teens had normal cycles and nutrition. Stress, activity, diet affect menstrual regularity. Abstract

ABSTRACTGeneral Background: Maternal mortality is associated with obstetric complications, including postpartum hemorrhage caused by birth canal trauma. Specific Background: Perineal rupture occurs in approximately 75% of vaginal deliveries in Indonesia and is associated with parity, maternal age, fetal weight, and perineal elasticity. Perineal massage using virgin coconut oil (VCO) is considered a nonpharmacological approach to maintain tissue flexibility. Knowledge Gap: Empirical evidence examining VCO-based perineal massage for preventing perineal rupture remains limited. Aims: This study evaluated perineal massage with VCO for preventing perineal rupture among pregnant women. Results: A quasi-experimental post-test only non-equivalent control group design involving 56 pregnant women at 34–38 weeks of gestation was conducted. The intervention group received weekly 10-minute massage. The intervention group showed 64.3% without rupture, while 70.4% of the control group experienced rupture, with a significant association (p = 0.021; OR = 0.234). Novelty: This study provides clinical evidence supporting VCO-based perineal massage as an antenatal preventive method. Implications: Integration of this technique into antenatal care may support safer vaginal delivery and reduce birth canal trauma. Highlights: Weekly Intervention Beginning at 34 Weeks Shows Lower Incidence of Birth Canal Tearing. Participants Receiving the Procedure Demonstrated Higher Rates of Intact Tissue During Delivery. Statistical Testing Identified a Significant Association Between Antenatal Manual Therapy and Tissue Integrity Outcomes. Keywords: Perineal Rupture, Virgin Coconut Oil, Antenatal Care, Birth Canal Trauma, Maternal Delivery Outcomes

Abstract

General Background: Dysmenorrhea is a common reproductive health issue among adolescents that can interfere with daily activities and learning processes. Specific Background: Various non-pharmacological interventions, including acupressure and health education, have been explored as alternative approaches to manage menstrual pain among young women. Knowledge Gap: However, limited studies integrate both educational media and acupressure techniques as a combined approach to improve knowledge and reduce pain simultaneously. Aims: This study aims to examine the application of health education and acupressure techniques in addressing dysmenorrhea among adolescents. Results: The findings indicate that the intervention contributes to improved understanding of dysmenorrhea management and supports the reduction of pain intensity through non-pharmacological methods. Novelty: The study highlights a combined approach using educational media and acupressure practice as an integrated intervention model. Implications: These findings provide practical insights for implementing accessible and low-risk interventions in adolescent reproductive health programs, particularly in educational settings. The study also supports the development of preventive strategies through health promotion and self-care practices. Keywords: Dysmenorrhea, Acupressure, Health Education, Adolescents, Non Pharmacological Therapy Key Findings Highlights Combined intervention improves understanding of menstrual pain management Non-drug technique supports reduction of discomfort intensity Educational media strengthens self-care awareness among adolescents
