Abstract

Sansevieria trifasciata is a plant that has the potential to kill pathogenic bacteria due to its content. An experimental study with a laboratory experimental design was carried out to test the inhibition of Sansevieria trifasciata extract against Escherichia coli in vitro. Antibacterial testing of Sansevieria trifasciata extract was carried out at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 40% to explore the growth of Escherichia coli by maceration method and using 96% ethanol. The medium used was Mueller Hinton Agar which had previously been inoculated with the test microbe (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922) and then the results obtained were compared with the control group for comparison. The ethanol extract of Sansevieria trifasciata with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 40% could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria with the average diameter of the inhibition zone respectively 6.63 mm, 5.42 mm, and 6.55 mm compared to the diameter of the Escherichia coli on the control variable + using the previous ciprofloxacin, namely 20.4 mm, 20.8 mm and 20.4 mm. Sansevieria trifasciata has good inhibition against the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria with low or high concentrations.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kendaraan bermotor yang masuk dan keluar area parkir pusat perbelanjaan X Surabaya menghasilkan emisi gas buang kendaraan bermotor yaitu gas karbon monoksida. Petugas parkir yang berada di area parkir dapat terpajan gas karbon monoksida yang berisiko terhadap kesehatan petugas parkir. Tujuan: menganalisis tingkat risiko paparan gas karbon monoksida pada petugas parkir di pusat perbelanjaan X Surabaya. Metode: Jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional dan menggunakan pendekatan studi Analisis Risiko Kesehatan Lingkungan (ARKL). Sampel yang digunakan adalah total populasi sebanyak 34 orang. Pengambilan sampel gas CO dilakukan di area parkir pusat perbelanjaan X Surabaya. Hasil: pengukuran rata-rata konsentrasi gas CO di area parkir adalah 1,589 ppm. Konsentrasi gas CO dibawah Nilai ambang Batas (NAB) berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Ketenagakerjaan RI Nomor 5 Tahun 2018. Nilai intake tertinggi yang diperoleh dari hasil perhitungan sebesar 0,159 mg/kg/hari dan tingkat risiko yang didapatkan 0,174 (RQ ≤ 1). Kesimpulan: paparan gas CO di area parkir pusat perbelanjaan X Surabaya RQ ≤ 1 aman atau tidak berisiko terhadap gangguan kesehatan petugas parkir.

Abstract

Rivers are one of the environmental components that have important functions for human life, including to support environmental balance as a result of increased development activities in various fields. River pollution occurs because of domestic and non-domestic waste. River pollution that occurs in the ngingas river causes a pungent and colorful odor that affects the biota and quality of river water. The purpose of this study was to measure and map river water quality in terms of TSS and BOD parameters. The research is descriptive in nature with the independent variable being effluent along the river and the dependent variable being the levels of TSS and BOD in the ngingas river. The sampling technique used the grab sampling method and composite sampling was carried out by taking 4 points as far as 2 km from the Ngingas River flow. Data analysis was done by descriptive method of BOD and TSS levels as a result of the effluent at the 4 specified points. The results of the measurement of 4 sampling points at the Ngingas River showed BOD and TSS results of 151.5 mg/L and 103 mg/L in the first 1 km caused by domestic waste originating from settlements with the criteria of the waste being slightly foamy, and smelling good. While in the second 1 km the results of TSS and BOD are 814.2 mg/L and 73.8 mg/L, the measurement results can be caused by many factors, namely household activities or industrial activities, with the criteria that the waste is sometimes foamy. , slightly black, cloudy and smelly. Suggestions for other researchers are efforts to reduce TSS and BOD levels that meet the requirements and it is hoped that every industrial owner has a sewage treatment plant.

Abstract

Inadequate sanitary conditions and poor hygiene practices of coffee shop employees can be one of the causes of germs on the tableware used. Contamination can occur in food that is in direct contact with unclean cutlery and contains microorganisms, this can lead to disease in the digestive system. The purpose of this study was to identify the bacteriological quality of cutlery, personal hygiene, and state of sanitation facilities. This type of research is descriptive. The population of this study were 15 coffee shops with a total sample of 10 samples of cutlery and 5 samples of clean water which were taken by purposive sampling. Analysis of data regarding the bacteriological quality of cutlery, personal hygiene, and sanitation conditions were based on laboratory results and observation sheets. The results of the research on glass utensils and coasters, parameter E.coli 100% met the requirements, while the total plate count parameter for cutlery and MPN Coliform clean water at five coffee shops in Kendangsari showed 100% did not meet the requirements, the application of the cutlery washing technique was of sufficient value ( 64%), the sanitation condition of the coffee shop is of sufficient value (61%), and the personal hygiene of the employees is of sufficient value (58%). It is hoped that the relevant agencies are willing to provide counseling on techniques for washing cutlery, as well as the application of personal hygiene to coffee shop employees in Kendangsari so that the quality of cutlery is maintained.

Abstract

Diare dapat terjadi apabila sebuah lingkungan kerja memiliki sebuah kondisi sanitasi dasar yang buruk. Diare merupakan aktivitas buang air besar dengan frekuensi sebanyak tiga kali atau lebih dengan kondisi tinja cair. Terdapat beberapa jenis yang meningkatkan diare salah satunya adalah sanitasi dasar. jenis penelitian ini menggunakan observasi analitik dengan pendekatan case control. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 64 rumah dengan teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan lembat observasi dan dolah dengan uji chii square dan dilanjutkan dengan SPSS. Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara sarana air bersih dengan kejadian diare (p value 0,00<0,05), terdapat hungan anatara jamban sehat dengan kejadian diare (p value 0,00<0,05), terdapat hubungan anatara sarana pembuangan air limbah dengan kejadian diare (p value 0,00<0,05), terdapat hubungan anatara sarana pembuangan sampah dengan kejadian diare (p value 0,00<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan signifikan anatara sarana air bersih, sarana jamban sehat, sarana pembuangan air limbah, sarana pembuangan sampah dengan kejadian diare pada balita di Desa Sememi Kota Surabaya. Disarankan kepada masyarakat agar selalu menjaga kebersihan jamban, menjaga kondisi bak mandi, sarana pembuangan sampah dan sarana pembuangan air limbah.

Abstract

Kesehatan lingkungan sekolah adalah aspek penting yang berpengaruh langsung terhadap kesejahteraan dan prestasi akademik siswa. Lingkungan yang sehat, bersih, dan aman tidak hanya mendukung proses belajar mengajar, tetapi juga melindungi siswa dari berbagai risiko kesehatan yang dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas kesehatan lingkungan Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Desa Dalegan Tahun 2024. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif observasional. Variabel penelitian berupa variabel lokasi bangunan, konstruksi bangunan, ruang bangunan, fasilitas sanitasi sekolah, dan halaman sekolah. Analisis data menggunakan tabel. Hasil dari penelitian menyatakan kesehatan lingkungan Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Desa Dalegan dengan variabel lokasi bangunan termasuk kategori baik yaitu 66,66%, konstruksi bangunan dan ruang bangunan termasuk kategori kurang yaitu 33,33%, fasilitas sanitasi termasuk kategori cukup yaitu 66,66%, dan halaman sekolah pada tiga SDN di Desa Dalegan termasuk kategori cukup denan persentase 100%. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian kesehatan lingkungan Sekolah Dasar Negeri di Desa Dalegan Tahun 2024 termasuk dalam kategori cukup. Saran dari penelitian ini yaitu bagi pihak sekolah dan petugas puskesmas melakukan monitoring bersama terkait kesehatan lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan Mol berbahan Limbah menjadi alternatif dalam kelanjutan kelestarian lingkungan. Limbah tomat, pepaya dan nasi basi memiliki potensi sebagai bahan Mol dalam mempercepat pengomposan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu pemanfaatan MOL limbah tomat, pepaya, dan nasi basi sebagai starter terhadap waktu dan kualitas kompos. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni dengan desain posttest only control group. Objek penelitian ini adalah limbah tomat, pepaya, dan nasi basi. Variabel penelitian ini adalah waktu pengomposan, dan kualitas kompos di replikasi 9 kali. Pengumpulan data dilakukan uji laboratorium yaitu kualitas kompos. Analisis data menggunakan uji One Way Anova untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan MOL limbah tomat, pepaya, dan nasi basi sebagai starter terhadap waktu dan kualitas kompos. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan rata-rata kandungan Nitrogen tertinggi Mol pepaya 2,81%, pemberian Mol nasi basi sebesar 2,28%, dan yang terendah Mol tomat sebesar 2,10%. Rerata kandungan Phospor yang tertinggi yaitu pada pemberian Mol pepaya sebesar 3,48%, Mol nasi basi sebesar 2,75%, dan yang terendah Mol tomat sebesar 2,35%. Dan rerata kandungan Kalium yang tertinggi yaitu pada pemberian Mol pepaya sebesar 4,3%, pemberian Mol nasi basi sebesar 3,74, dan yang terendah Mol tomat sebesar 3,33%. Lamanya waktu tercepat ialah kompos dengan penambahan starter Mol pepaya. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengukuran pH dan suhu Mol telah memenuhi syarat yaitu hasil awal dan akhir mendapatkan nilai pH 4-5 dan suhu berkisar 29-31. Selanjutnya waktu tercepat pada kompos dengan penambahan Mol pepaya yaitu 15 hari.

Abstract

In Wonokusumo Village, 2022 saw a significant health challenge, with 186 cases of tuberculosis (TB) and 155 cases of acute respiratory infections (ARI) reported by the Health Department. This community service initiative aimed to reduce TB and ARI cases through promotional and preventive measures utilizing a modified cyclone ventilator (CVM). The CVM enhances indoor lighting and maintains optimal air circulation at a velocity of 0.15 m/s, in accordance with healthy housing regulations. Many homes in Wonokusumo are overcrowded and lack proper ventilation, with natural ventilation less than 15% of floor area. The close proximity of houses restricts light and air flow, and inadequate space conditions (rooms smaller than 4m² housing more than two occupants) contribute to unhealthy living environments. Implementing a healthy housing structure is vital for ensuring clean indoor air, which can prevent disease transmission, including TB. Our community service involved educating residents about maintaining clean and healthy homes, focusing on the importance of proper ventilation, lighting, and humidity control to mitigate TB and ARI risks. We distributed CVMs to three TB and ARI patients' homes, significantly improving knowledge about TB and ARI, as demonstrated by pre- and post-test results: TB knowledge rose from 20% to 94%, ARI from 18% to 90%, handwashing from 16% to 92%, and sanitation awareness from 14% to 90%. We recommend that the local health center promote health initiatives to reduce household transmission risks for TB. Overall, this initiative fostered improved public health awareness and contributed to enhancing community well-being in Wonokusumo

Abstract

The Jambangan Recycling Center (PDU) in Surabaya is a waste management site that applies the 3R principles, namely Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. The amount of waste that comes in every day is 5-6 tons. The waste processing officer complained of subjective complaints in the form of influenza, cough, sore throat and chest pain. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of H2S gas on subjective complaints of waste processing officers at the Jambangan Recycling Center Surabaya. This research is an analytic observational research with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Jambangan Recycling Center. Sampling of respondents and ambient air was carried out by saturated sampling with a total population and sample of 27 people. Data collection techniques in this study used measurements, observations, and interviews. Data analysis using SPSS application with Spearman Correlation Test. The results showed that the average level of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) in the Jambangan Recycling Center Surabaya was 0.00054 ppm which was included in the eligible category according to the East Java Governor Regulation Number 10 of 2009. This study also showed that 27 waste processing officers who 2 people experienced severe complaints, 25 people had mild complaints, and there were no waste processing officers who had no complaints. The conclusion of the study is that there is no effect between levels of Hydrogen Sulfide on subjective complaints of waste processing officers at the Jambangan Recycling Center Surabaya (P = 0.336) so it is recommended to the relevant agencies to monitor air quality regularly. Waste processing officers are also advised to use personal protective equipment when in the Surabaya Jambangan Recycling Center environment.

Abstract

One of the wastes of making tempe is soybean husk which comes from boiling and soaking. Soybean husk waste that is not utilized causes unpleasant odors and pollutes the environment. Utilization as organic fertilizer can be used to overcome the pollution. This study aims to utilize soybean husk waste as a liquid fertilizer applied to mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.). This type of research is included in the True Experimental Design. With the research design Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The object of this research is green mustard (Brassica juncea L.) as many as 30 samples and liquid organic fertilizer from soybean husk waste at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% with 9 replications. The sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling. Data were obtained from the field in the form of observations and measurements of mustard plant growth parameters including the height of the mustard plant, the number of leaves of the mustard plant, and the diameter of the stem of the mustard plant, the NPK content test in the laboratory, and data analysis was carried out with the Anova test. The application of liquid organic fertilizer from soybean husks did not significantly affect stem diameter and number of leaves, but did affect plant height. The effective concentration treatment on the growth of mustard greens is a 15% concentration treatment for plant height with an average of 35.85 cm. Liquid Organic Fertilizer of soybean epidermis with a concentration of 15% is effective on the growth of mustard greens. Suggestions for further researchers are to conduct research on other plants with higher concentrations in order to obtain optimal results on plant growth to be studied.
