Abstract

ABSTRACT The study was conducted in classes VII G SMP 23 Pekanbaru 2015/2016 school year to determine the increase science process skills of students by implementing guided inquiry learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles of planning, execution and observation and reflection. The data collected in this study is the science process skills that emphasizes on three areas, namely knowledge, attitudes and skills. Data were collected using tests and observation sheet. The results showed science process skills in every sphere has increased. Science process skills that emphasize cognitive seen from the results of daily tests on the first cycle that 3.05 (B) is increased in the second cycle is 3.15 (B). Students who complete the first cycle of 25 students (64.10%) and increased in the second cycle is 31 (79.49%). On average students' science process skills in the realm of attitudes in the first cycle, namely 2.90 (B) and increased in the second cycle 3.37 (B). Average science process skills of students who emphasize the domain of skills in the first cycle, namely 2.86 (B) and increased in the second cycle is 3.49 (B+). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry on critical thinking in the classification of living things. This research was conducted at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. The research was carried out in the form of an experiment. The study population was class VII. The sample was taken using simple random sampling technique, which consisted of 3 classes, namely the experimental class 1 using the guided inquiry model, the experimental class 2 using the modified free inquiry model and the control class using the conventional method. The research design used a pretest and posttest control group design. Data were analyzed by using ANOVA test (one way ANOVA). Based on the result data, the average critical thinking result of the classification of living things with an average value of the experimental class 1 is 77.84 (good), the experimental class 2 is 70.93 (good) and the control class is 43.29 (poor). In the experimental class class 1, the critical thinking average is higher than the experimental class 2 and the control class. Based on the results of the ANOVA test, it was stated that the use of guided inquiry models and modified free inquiry had a significant effect on students' critical thinking in the experimental class 1, the experimental class 2 and the control class with a significant value (0.000) <alpha (0.05).

Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to produce a test instrument for the knowledge of candidates for Biology Education undergraduate candidates for the Technologhy Pedagogy and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and Indonesian National Qualifications Framework. The study was a development with plomp models conducted at the stage of development. Data collection was done by validation and testing. Validation aims to look at the alignment of experts' opinions, while testing serves to see the handling of the problem by analyzing the test results. Data obtained from test results analysis using rasch modelling with the help of the winstep software. The results of the analysis are in the form of the value of reliability, unidimensionality, level of difficulty, distinguishing power, distractor and person - item map. The results showed that the number of valid questions was 63 items, the number of questions that were invalid or not accepted was 17 items. Invalid questions must be followed up in order to produce a good knowledge test instrument so that it can be used in measuring the mastery of TPACK for prospective teachers and biology teachers.

Abstract

Abstract: Learning by using the 2013 curriculum emphasizes on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Students' higher-order thinking skills can be trained by providing evaluations in the form of HOTS test instrument. Learning in this digital era certainly must be able to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the learning process. The process of constructing HOTS test instrument is based on multimedia by using iSpring Suite 9 software. This study aims to develop and to analyze high-quality multimedia-based Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument about motion system materials for grade eleven senior high school students. This study was conducted at the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Riau, and SMAN Plus Riau Province Pekanbaru from November 2021 to March 2022. This research used the ADDIE model but only was done to the development stage. The result shows that the validation obtains an average score of 3.52 in the very valid category. The average response in the limited trial is 3.52 in the very good category. The average result of the quality of the HOTS test instrument for multimedia-based motion system materials is 3.52 in the very good category. Analysis of the items shows that the details of the items are reliable, 86.1% of the difficulty level of the HOTS items is in the difficult category, the discriminatory power 77.8% of the HOTS items is acceptable, 71.9% of the distractor function is effective. This study shows that the developed multimedia-based HOTS test instrument have a high quality so that they can be used as biology assessment instruments.Key Words: Multimedia, Motion Systems, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument.
