Abstract

The low level of wealth distribution literacy based on mawaris principles among urban Muslim families has the potential to generate injustice and conflict within households. This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding and awareness of urban Muslim families regarding the importance of applying mawaris principles in family wealth distribution. The activity was conducted at the PKK Women’s Community of Wiyung Brantas Permai on April 19, 2025, involving 23 participants. An educative and participatory approach was employed through interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of the basic concepts and mechanisms of mawaris, accompanied by changes in attitudes and awareness toward planning family wealth distribution in accordance with Islamic principles. The activity also received positive responses from participants and has the potential to generate sustainable impact through the strategic role of women within the family. Thus, this community service initiative contributes to strengthening Islamic financial literacy and promoting equitable wealth distribution in urban Muslim communities.

Abstract

Inheritance is one of the instruments of wealth distribution that is clearly regulated in Islamic law. A fair and proportionate inheritance distribution mechanism not only has legal implications but also significantly impacts the community's economic development. This article discusses inheritance management from an Islamic economic perspective, emphasizing the functions of distribution and social justice and their role in strengthening the financial structure of the family and society. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach based on the study of literature from the Qur'an, Hadith, and the views of fiqh scholars as well as contemporary Islamic economic literature. The results of the discussion showed that inheritance management in accordance with sharia can reduce social disparities, strengthen family solidarity, prevent the accumulation of wealth in a few parties, and encourage a healthy circulation of wealth in society. Thus, inheritance management is not only a private family affair, but also has a real contribution to the economic development of a just society.

Abstract

Distribution is a central issue in Islamic economics, which aims to achieve collective welfare. However, distribution is often narrowly understood as the transfer of goods and services from producers to consumers, rather than as the fair allocation of wealth. This study analyzes verses from the Qur'an and Hadith related to the ethics of wealth distribution to identify the principles promoted in Islam. This article uses a literature review method with a library research approach, with the main sources taken from the Qur'an and Hadith, supported by relevant academic literature such as journal articles. The findings show that Islamic distribution ethics emphasize justice and equality, brotherhood and compassion, and social solidarity. Instruments such as zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf play a strategic role in realizing wealth equality while reducing economic inequality in society. In addition, the Qur'an highlights the importance of prioritizing spiritual well-being over material interests in economic activities. In conclusion, ethical distribution in Islam serves as a fundamental pillar for fostering social balance and promoting holistic human prosperity.

Abstract

Every adult Muslim carries a spiritual responsibility to organize and conduct life according to the principles of Islamic law. In the discipline of Usul Fiqh, Islamic legal foundations are primarily derived from four mutually acknowledged sources: the Qur'an, Sunnah, Ijma', and Qiyas. The Qur'an and Sunnah function as the principal normative references that contain legal principles, ethical values, and rulings, both explicitly stated and implicitly indicated. However, the development of time and the emergence of new contemporary issues that are not directly addressed in the Qur'an or Hadith require an adaptive legal methodology. In this regard, Ijma' and Qiyas play a crucial methodological role in shaping Islamic legal development. Ijma' refers to the consensus of qualified scholars after the passing of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in determining legal rulings on specific matters, thereby providing collective legitimacy. Meanwhile, Qiyas operates through analogical reasoning by relating new cases to established textual rulings based on shared effective legal causes (‘illat). Through these four foundations, Islamic law remains dynamic, applicable, and capable of addressing societal needs across different periods and contexts.

Abstract

In the study of ushul fiqh, Islamic legal sources occupy a fundamental position as a methodological framework in the process of establishing law. In addition to legal sources that have been widely agreed upon, such as the Al-Qur'an, Sunnah, ijma', and qiyas, there are also a number of other legal sources whose legal status is still debated among ulama. These differences arise due to variations in approaches to understanding propositions, the use of reason, and responses to social dynamics. This article comprehensively discusses disputed sources of Islamic law, including istihsan, maslahah murlah, 'urf, istishab, syar'u man qablana, sahabi school of thought, and sadd az-zari'ah, by highlighting the meaning, basis of argumentation, and its position in the ushul fiqh methodology. This research aims to expand understanding of the function of these legal sources as a means of ijtihad in resolving legal issues that are not explained directly in the Al-Qur'an and Sunnah. The method used is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach through a review of classical and modern ushul fiqh literature. The analysis was carried out descriptively-analytically to describe the various views of ulama and the limits of application of each legal source. The results of the study show that even though the disputed legal sources are not accepted uniformly by all schools of thought, their existence still has an important role in the development of adaptive and contextual Islamic law. As long as their use does not conflict with the qath'i propositions and remains based on maqashid al-syariah, these legal sources are able to enrich the practice of ijtihad and maintain the relevance of Islamic law in the face of changing times.

Abstract

Production is a fundamental component of economic activity that plays a strategic role in achieving human well-being. From an Islamic economic perspective, production is understood not only as a technical process aimed at creating or increasing the utility value of goods and services, but also as a manifestation of human responsibility as leaders on this earth. Using an Islamic economic interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an and hadith, this study aims to examine the concept of production in depth from an Islamic economic perspective. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this research technique utilizes a literature review to examine Islamic economic literature and relevant interpretations, in addition to primary sources such as the Qur'an and hadith. The results show that the Qur'an and hadith provide a framework for production that integrates moral, social, and spiritual values into economic activities, utilizes natural resources optimally and sustainably, and produces halal goods and services. Along with material gain, Islamic manufacturing aims to promote social justice, individual well-being, and ecological harmony. Therefore, the concept of production from an Islamic economic perspective makes economic activity a form of worship and a tool for developing well-being that adheres to the principles of Islamic law.

The balance between worldly and spiritual life is reflected in the principle of moderation (wasathiyah), which guides Muslims to live their lives in a proportional manner. In conclusion, the concept of work-life balance in Islam is grounded in the teachings of balance between worldly life and the hereafter as found in the Qur’an and Hadith.
