Abstract

Research Background: Helminthiasis, especially Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH), is a health problem globally. The high number of helminthiasis on children is caused by many factors, especially demographic factor. Helminthiasis leads to disorders of intake, intestine, absorption, and metabolism. Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) is one of disorders caused by helminthiasis. IDA itself could cause failure to thrive on children. This concerns research to know the relationship between helminthiasis and IDA on children of pottery craftsman in West Lombok, especially in SMPN 2 Kediri. Methods: This research exerted analytic descriptive research method and cross sectional approaches. The research data was employed through questionnaire that shared to the students. The subjects of research were taken from 50 students of 7th and 8th class of SMPN 2 Kediri, West Lombok. The data analysis employed Chi-Square statistic test and SPSS 23,0. Research Goals: This research goals showed that the students who were positively infected by intestinal worm 17 students (34%). Worms infecting the students are Trichuris trichiura in 10 students (58,82%), followed by Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale, an\d a mix of Trichuris trichiura and Ascaris lumbricoides. Factors that is related with this helminthiasis are wearing footwear habit with P value <0,05 and biting nails habit with P value <0,05. Four students (8%) are suffering IDA. This helminthiasis has a meaningful relationship with IDA with P value <0,05. Conclusion: It was indicated interrelation between the incident of intestinal worm and iron deficiency anaemia in SMPN 2 Kediri, West Lombok.

Abstract

Worms are diseases caused by the entry of parasites (in the form of worms) into the human body. The types of worms that are often found to cause infection are roundworms (Ascarislumbricoides), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura) and hookworms (Necatoramericanus) which are transmitted through the soil (Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis. Examination of helminth infections can be done qualitativelyand quantitative. The qualitative examination that is often used is the Direct slide method. while the quantitative examination that is often used is the Kato Katz method. This study aims to compare the accuracy of the worm infection examination between the Direct slide method and the Kato Katz method by examining stool samples. This research was conducted on 47 Ampenan Elementary School Students located on the coast in Mataram City, where the coastal area is one of the good breeding grounds for worms. This study used a comparative analytical research design with a cross sectional approach. To establish the diagnosis of helminthiasis and the type of worm that infects, an examination of worm eggs in stool samples is carried out using the Direct slide and Kato Katz methods. The results showed that the number of samples infected with STH was more commonly found by the Kato-Katz method. The results of measurements using the Direct slide method and the Kato Katz method showed that the highest prevalence of STH infection was Ascaris lumbricoides infection. Direct slide method produces a sensitivity level of 95.16% and a specificity of 100%.

Abstract

The nasal epithelium and nasopharyngeal mucosa are the main entry points and sites of SARS-CoV-2 replication. Therefore, it is very important to be able to maintain the health of the nasal and oral cavities during this pandemic, namely by nasal washing with salt water and gargling. Nasal washing is a practical, simple, economical, and feasible method to be applied in everyday as well as a non-pharmacological therapy to clean the nasal cavity from various microorganisms including reducing the number of viruses in the nasal cavity, so education about this is considered important to do. Online education is the right choice during this pandemic because people do more work from home and information about various things, including information about health, can be accessed quickly. This is an opportunity for health workers to provide education to the community, one of which is through a nasal washing video where in this video we discuss knowledge about nasal washing, its benefits and especially how to do it properly. In addition, the public can also provide input about this educational video through the google form, so that it can be suggestions for improvements in the future

Abstract

Escherichia coli (E.coli) is a type of Gram negative bacteria species which is a normal flora in the digestive tract. However, it can potentially become pathogenic if the number in the digestive tract increases. E.coli infection can cause various inflammatory bowel diseases, such as IBD, Crohn's and ulcerative colitis (Khan et al., 2018). Several studies have found that probiotics can act as preventive and therapeutic agents to eradicate pathogenic bacteria through inhibition of adhesion and colonization. This study is conducted to determine the potential of BALB in inhibiting the colonization of ESBL-producing E.coli in vivo in BALB/c house mouse. The results of the in vivo colonization test show that BALB has good colonization inhibitory activity against ESBL-producing E.coli which is indicated by a decrease in the number of ESBL-producing E.coli colonies in pellet-induced BALB/c house mouse and CFS BAL.

Abstract

Abstract

Keywords:Pemeriksaan; Gizi; KecacinganFadhila, N. Kecacingan pada Anak.
