Abstract

PT XYZ is a plywood processing firm confronted with issues related to raw material inventory management since the demands for such materials are probabilistic in nature and the orders could not be ordered based on the needs of the company’s production line. This often leads to problems such as overstock and stockout hence increasing the overall cost of inventory. This research is going to find ways on supply management of sengon wood to be used in PT XYZ by identifying the difference between the existing inventory management technique that the company is using, the continuous review (Q) back order method and the periodic review (P) back order method to retail total inventory costs. From the findings, it is established that employing continuous review back order method (Q) bring in total stocks cost to the tune of IDR 28,829,527,844 which is cheaper than the total costs obtained under current firms method resulting to the tune of IDR 32,502,564,700 in the process giving an 11.3% cost savings. Moreover, based on the estimated demand of sengon wood from May 2024 to April 2025 as 42,109 m³, another improvement called the continuous review method helped to optimize the use of inventory. This research validates the effectiveness of such inventory tracking systems as the continuous inventory monitoring system particularly for businesses that operate in volatile markets hence the implication of great savings when compared to the conventional systems of inventory control.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, increasingly fierce industrial competition forces companies to improve product quality and production efficiency. This study is focused on UD. XYZ iron fabrication company, which experienced a bench product defect rate of 13.68%, exceeding the intended tolerance standard of 9%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality control processes of bench furniture products at UD. XYZ to reduce the defect rate. For this purpose the writer used the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods. Based on the data obtained, there are six types of defects that occur during the production process of furniture bench products with the largest percentage of defects being missing color (19.9%), followed by broken bench pads (19.1%), and broken rubber feet (17.7%). Based on the RPN calculation, the first highest RPN is obtained for the type of missing color defect of 210, which is caused by the lack of worker accuracy. Second, the bench pad broke at 210, which is caused by the worker being too hard when hitting the bench pad. Third, the rubber foot broke by 180 which is caused by the worker hitting the rubber foot too hard. To reduce the defect rate it is recommended for the company management to provide more supervision and training to the workers. Keywords – Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Furniture, Statistic Quality Control, Quality Control.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah Ponorogo General Hospital is one of the private hospitals in Ponorogo Regency. At this time the Muhammadiyah Ponorogo General Hospital has received Plenary accreditation from the Indonesian Hospital Accreditation Institute (LARSI). The problem that is often faced by hospitals is that there is a lot of waste that occurs in the service process at the Eye Polyclinic of RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The most critical level of waste for eye polyclinic services is waiting with a weighting value of 4.00, waste inventory with a value of 3.16, waste overproduction with a weighting value of 3.00, waste defects with a weighting value of 2.91 , waste inappropriate processing with a weight value of 2.66, waste unnecessary motion with a weight value of 2.58, waste transportation with a weight value of 1.41, and waste underutilized abilities of people with a weight value of 2.25. The initial activity time before the repair was 14,677 seconds or 244 minutes (4 hours) and after the repair was reduced to 6,577 seconds or 109 minutes (1 hour 61 minutes). The highest waste is waiting, namely doctors often do not come on time and there is a lack of nurses or pharmacists in the pharmacy with a Risk Priority Number (RPN) score of 252 and 224. Recommendations for improvement that can be proposed are adding doctors to the eye poly department to reduce doctor delays because there are surgery schedules that often collide with the schedule for opening eye poly services and adding medical personnel to the pharmacy department, to reduce queues you can use a drug delivery application that can be accessed by patients without having to queue again at the hospital.
