Abstract

This study aims to determine land suitability for seaweed cultivation in the Parepare Bay Region, assessing the feasibility of developing seaweed cultivation; identify factors that influence the development of seaweed cultivation; Conformity evaluation conducted in this study is the actual suitability or suitability of seaweed cultivation land, where the resulting land suitability class is only based on available data, not considering social, economic, financial, and other aspects. The research method used is a direct survey at the research location. The results of the land suitability analysis are based on the suitability matrix: spatial data analysis using the Geogerafis Information System method, to determine the suitability of seaweed cultivation land. The results showed that the area of land suitability for seaweed cultivation based on the land suitability map was appropriate (S) ± 578.57 ha and not suitable (N) ± 759.68 ha

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of seaweed cultivation on the water quality of vannamei shrimp aquaculture ponds in the Suppa District, Pinrang Regency. This research was conducted for approximately 10 (ten) years in 2020. The research location was around the waters of the Suppa District, Pinrang Regency. includes preparation / preliminary observation in the field, determining sample points or selecting observation stations, collecting data in the field, taking samples then observing the laboratory, and making reports. Analysis of water quality for seaweed cultivation includes parameters of Salinity, Temperature, DO, pH, Nitrate and Phosphate. Based on laboratory tests, it is known that for analysis of seaweed cultivation water quality, the average value of each parameter is temperature 30 0c, Salinity 36 ppt, DO 6.44 ppm, pH 8.30, Flow 0.35 m / s, Brightness 58%, Nitrate 0.005 mg / l, and 0.00026 ppm Phosphate While the results of laboratory analysis of physical and chemical parameters in the area of vannamei shrimp pond cultivation in Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, it is known that the average value of each parameter is temperature 30 0c, Salinity 33 ppt, DO 6.0 ppm, pH 8.4, Nitrate 0.0061 mg / l, and Phosphate 0.0032 ppm. The analysis of the suitability of pond land based on the analysis carried out found that it was suitable for 727.66 ha. And the effect of seaweed cultivation is very good for its influence on the quality of white shrimp pond water.

Abstract

Tilapia in Sidenreng Rappang Regency has the potential to be cultivated, because it is popular in the community. However, there is a problem in tilapia production, namely the high cost of feed. Raw materials for feed are one of the causes of the high price of feed, So an alternative is needed to use local raw materials that are cheap and easy to obtain, namely using broomstick fish meal. This study aims to determine the effect of increasing tilapia production through substitution of fish meal with catfish meal in artificial feed on nutritional quality, growth rate, feed consumption level, and hepatosomatic index. This study was conducted in January - February 2025. Located at the Unhas Education Pond, Bojo District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, so that there were 15 research containers filled with 15 individuals per container weighing 3 grams. The treatments given were treatment A = 100% local flour and 0% broom-sapu fish meal, treatment B = 75% local fish meal and 25% broom-sapu fish meal, treatment C = 50% local flour and 50% broom-sapu fish meal, treatment D = 25% local fish meal, 75% broom-sapu fish meal, treatment E = 0% local fish meal, 100% broom-sapu fish meal. Data were analyzed using a comparison of the mean analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the results of the study, the treatment with the best value in the proximate analysis of feed, growth parameters and feed consumption was treatment E with a crude protein value of 32.81%, growth (3.810 ± 0.18a) and feed consumption value (13.23 ± 1.57a). In the Hepatosomatic Index parameter, the treatment with the highest value was treatment D with a value of (0.15 ± 0.00a).

Abstract

The invasion of the sailfin catfish (Pterygoplichthys sp.) in Lake Sidenreng has caused serious ecological disruption and threatens the sustainability of local fishery resources that support the livelihoods of surrounding communities. This study aimed to analyze the reproductive aspects of female sailfin catfish as a basis for population control efforts, by estimating the fork length at first gonadal maturity (Lm₅₀) and calculating the gonadosomatic index (GSI). A total of 164 female sailfin catfish were collected using gill nets from various sampling sites and analyzed at the Basic Laboratory of the Faculty of Science and Technology. GSI analysis showed values ranging from 0.28% to 15.09%, with an average of 4.29%. Most individuals were found at gonadal maturity stage IV, indicating a high reproductive readiness. The estimated Lm₅₀ was 214.12 mm, suggesting that these fish are capable of reproducing at a relatively small body size. These findings reveal a high reproductive potential, which may accelerate the invasion rate of this species in Lake Sidenreng. Information on reproductive characteristics is essential as a foundation for formulating management strategies to suppress population growth and support the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem.
