Abstract

This study is about the Islamization of Mandailing Natal after the Padri war. This research portrays the history and the development of Islam in Mandailing Natal to analyze the uniqueness of the Islamization process. This was done by looking at the carriers of Islam in the region, the religion itself, and the media used in the process which was used to analyze how the development of Islam was in Mandailing Natal. As for the informants, historians and cultural practitioners of Mandailing Natal were the informants of this research. The method used was qualitative with a historical study. The techniques used to collect the data were observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that Islamization in Natal of Mandailing District began before the reform movement in Minangkabau. The Islamization process took place in the 18th century CE and the carriers were Islamic clerics from Minangkabau, namelySyekh Abdul Fattah (1975-1985 CE), Syekh Abdul Rauf (1896 CE), Syekh Abdul Malik (1905 CE), also known as Baleo Natal, who was a student of Syekh Abdul Fattah. As the Paderi Movement (1816-1837 CE) entered Mandailing Region, Islamization took place massively which was done by the figures of the Paderi Movement. In terms of the Islamization pattern in Mandailing natal, the patterns were assimilation and accommodation pattern. The Islamization process in Mandailing Natal was done in four stages. The first stage (Conversion) was the stage of introducing Islam to those who had not followed the Islamic teaching. The second stage (Intensification) was the stage of teaching Islam and strengthening the existence of Muslims. The third stage (Actualization) was the stage of deepening Islam and applying the concept of Islam in social life as well as confronting kafir authorities. The fourth stage was the reformation stage which was marked by reforming thoughts and Islamic life in the society. Islam has kept on growing positively in terms of quality and quantity in Mandailing Natal.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to (1) identify the forms of culture (tradition) and local wisdom possessed by the Mandeh community, (2) filter out any culture (tradition) that can be developed for sustainable tourism in the integrated Integrated Tourism Area. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with an ethnography analysis model. Research informants are community leaders and people who can provide information about various cultures and local wisdom in the Mandeh region. The data collection tool uses instruments such as interviews, observations, recording devices, and TOR and FGD instruments. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, documentation, observation and focus group discussions. The results of this study are (1) the forms of traditional culture found in the Integrated Mandeh Tourism Area are: balimau kasai tradition, gamat, Puti Andam Dewi folklore, mamukek tradition, randai and dance, badie-badie tomong, basanji, tukang canang, and mutual cooperation. (2) Traditional culture that can be developed for sustainable tourism is balimau kasai, gamat, mamukek and randai.

Abstract

This objective is to describe how the Pentahelix approach model in developing sustainable tourism in the City of Bukittinggi towards a national leading tourism destination. This research is a descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Data were collected through: interviews, observation and literature study. Determination of informants using purposive presentation techniques and key informants of the Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of the City of Bukittinggi. Data analysis by means of: data condensation, data levers and withdrawals. The data validation used source triangulation. The results of the study: (1) The development of tourism in the city of Bukittinggi using the Pentahelix approach model has involved the Bukittinggi City Government, Tourism Academics and Practitioners, Communities and Communities, Business Actors, and the Media. (2) The findings from the field show that the roles and duties of stakeholders are not optimal and (3) The collaboration between stakeholders in the City of Bukittinggi from the results of the research is not synergistic.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyse and describe the implementation of sustainable tourism in the tourist area of Ombilin coal mine in Sawahlunto, after being designated as World HERITAGE by UNESCO Cultural category. The tourist area of Ombilin coal mine city of Sawahlunto as World Heritage, is said to be sustainable, when the aspects of sustainable tourism are carried out. Then it is said to be not sustainable, if there is an aspect in sustainable tourism there is not yet done. The research method used in this study is qualitative with a type of descriptive research. The selection technique of informant with purposive sampiling. Furthermore, the analysis of the data obtained that the tourism area of the Ombilin coal mine city Sawahlunto as the world heritage has not been sustainable. Judging from the aspects of sustainable tourism of the tourist areas Ombilin coal mine city of Sawahlunto has not fulfilled 100% of these three aspects, namely environmental, economic and socio-cultural aspects. Based on the results of the research, tourism in the tourist area Ombilin coal mine city of Sawahlunto as World Heritage can be said to be not sustainable. In addition, there needs to be synergity of government with the community and business people in the development of tourism to go to sustainable tourism.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find ability and analyze of student geography education class of 2016 in data literacy using an empowering 8 model at the end of the lecture. This research used descriptive quantitative methods. Subject of reseach was student of Geography Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, Padang State University, class of 2016. Sampling used the Slovin formula, the sample obtained was 58 people. The technique for data collection was done trough fill questionnaires. The questionnaire created uses indicaors of standard empowering models 8. The results from this research showed ability of student geography education class of 2016 in data literacy already good with an average score of 2.89. The result showed that the presentation aspect is the highest aspect with an average score of 2.98, while the aspect of identifying data is the lowest aspect with an average score of 2.77.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine, and identify whether there was a significant influence of work culture and job satisfaction on employee performance. This study was conducted in Sungai Geringging District. This study applied a quantitative method with associative approach. The sample in this study was a total sampling technique consisted of 74 employees. Data measurement was performed using a Likert scale. Data in this study were collected through questionnaire distributed to respondents. Data analysis was carried out by using classical assumption test and multiple linear regression. The results of this data analysis processing show that there is a positive influence of work culture on employee performance of Adjusted R Square is 0.070%, a significance value of 0.013 is smaller than 0.05. Job satisfaction has a significant effect on the employee performance of Adjusted R Square of 0.360%. Simultaneously work culture and job satisfaction have a significant effect on employee performance by 0.000 less than 0.05.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to look at the learning problems of Social Sciences (IPS) subject based on the aspect of teachers in Junior High School/SMP/SMP in Padang City. This type of research is qualitative research, with the techniques used in the data collection questionnaires and interviews as qualitative methods. The questionnaires and interviews were filled out by distributing the google form link to teachers in the Subject Teachers' Deliberation Group (MGMP). Based on the results of data identification and analysis, information on similar problems related to social studies learning in each school was obtained. Problems that occurred from the teacher's perspective are 1) Planning on the learning process, namely the lack of time in preparing the concept of the learning process, insufficient learning support books, and limited supporting facilities in planning on learning concept for each subtopic; 2) Implementing the learning process, namely limited student books and low student interest; and 3) The learning assessment process is that there are still many students who are failed based on the characteristics of the student assessment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of strengthening the values ​​of nationalism in character education through learning history in senior high school 1 Sungai Penuh. The implementation of nationalism values ​​in character education which is the study in this study is the planning of the implementation of historical learning based on nationalism values ​​as outlined in the implementation of learning plans by teachers, the implementation of national values-based learning through classroom learning activities and constraints faced by teachers in the implementation of historical learning based on the values ​​of nationalism in character education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of descriptive research. The subject of this study was the deputy head of the curriculum in the field, history teacher who taught Indonesian history subjects in class XI and several students of class XI. Data collection techniques used in the study were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is the analysis of Miles and Huberman data, namely collecting data, reducing data, displaying data and drawing conclusions. The technique of checking the validity of the data used in this study is the data triangulation technique. Based on the results of the study found that the planning of the implementation of historical learning based on nationalism values ​​in character education has been integrated by the teacher into the RPP then the implementation of the core learning activities of the teacher has instilled nationalism values ​​by giving real examples in real life in accordance with the material discussed. In implementing nationalism values ​​in character education through history education also encountered obstacles faced by teachers such as insufficient time and also bad environmental factors that make it difficult for teachers to exemplify or instill national values ​​for students.

Abstract

The active learning strategy of the Power of Two type means the active learning strategy which in its application uses the strength learning techniques of two people to increase motivation and learning outcomes. Based on this, this research aims to determine the efforts to improve motivation and learning outcomes through the The Power of Two type in the History Subject at grade X IIS 3 in SMAN 7 Solok Selatan. The research method used was a classroom action research. The research was conducted in SMAN 7 Solok Selatan in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. The research subjects were 24 students of grade X IIS 3. The researchwas conducted in 3 cycles: planning, action, observation and reflection phase. The data analysis technique consisted of a descriptive and qualitative analysis. The results of the research were as follows (1) The use of the The Power of Two type could increase the motivation of students of grade XI IIS 3 in SMAN 7 Solok Selatan; in the first cycle the motivation for the medium category was 49.72%, increasing to 58.76%; cycle II and cycle III were included in the high category with a percentage of 69.23% and (2) The use of the The Power of Two type could improve student learning outcomes of grade XI IIS 3 in SMAN 7 Solok Selatan. In the first cycle, the mean score of the student learning outcomes was unsatisfactory: 64.58 with a percentage of completeness of 12.5%. Then, the second cycle increased by an mean score of 71.67 with a percentage of completeness of 20.83%% and in the third cycle of 78.75 with a percentage of completeness 87.5%.

Abstract

This article is a historical study that discusses the fate of the Gerwani Minangkabau woman in the conflict wrought by the G30S/PKI 1965. The pupose of this study is to describe the life experiences and the fate of the Minangkabau members of the Gerwani who became entangled in the conflict of their involvement in the illegal organization. This research uses the historical methods based on the four steps of activity of heuristic, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The conclusion obtained is that this study expounded facts related to the events of the G30S in 1965 that occurred in the land of Minang (west Sumatera). The participation of Minangkabau women in the Gerwani membership dragged them into a conflict that occurred during the events of the G30S 1965. Their desire to fight for women comes to their misery. Discrimination and negative stigma have not stopped them from feeling.
