Abstract

Low reading literacy skills and the dominance of conventional teaching methods are persistent challenges in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. This study aimed to develop a digital flipbook learning medium for story text material in third-grade Indonesian language learning using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The development process was carried out through systematic literature analysis, instructional design, visual development using Canva and Heyzine Flipbook, expert validation, small-group trials, and limited dissemination. The developed medium consisted of 18 interactive pages integrating story text content, vocabulary exploration, fact-fiction identification, story structure analysis, QR Code-based interactive quizzes, writing practice, and learning reflection, all aligned with Phase B Learning Outcomes of Merdeka Curriculum. Validation results showed material expert rating at 98.33% (very valid), media expert at 96.67% (very valid), and student responses in the small-group trial at 90.63% (very valid). These findings confirm that the developed digital flipbook is highly feasible for use in third-grade Indonesian language learning. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an integrated digital flipbook specifically designed for story text material in third grade, incorporating differentiated learning principles aligned with Merdeka Curriculum Phase B and featuring a QR Code-based interactive quiz as an embedded formative assessment tool.

Abstrak Primary education is the foundation of character building of the nation. Cultural Diversity material for fourth grade elementary school students has high urgency, but conventional learning methods still result in low student learning interest. This study aims to develop a digital comic media based on cultural diversity that is valid, practical, and effective in improving the learning interest of fourth grade elementary school students. The method used is Research and Development with the 4D model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages (Thiagarajan et al., 1974). The digital comic was developed using the Canva platform and presents representations of cultural identity such as traditional houses, traditional clothing, regional dances, and traditional ceremonies from various provinces in Indonesia in story narratives close to students’ lives. Expert validation results showed very valid scores: content expert (87.5%) and media expert (90.0%). Practicality test results by teachers (89.0%) and students (86.5%) were in the very practical category. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in student learning interest of 24.8% (p<0.05). It was concluded that the developed cultural diversity digital comic media is suitable for use as a learning medium in fourth grade elementary school and is able to serve as a humanistic educational instrument in instilling awareness of diversity.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills in science learning in Class IV at SD Uswatun Hasanah, North Jakarta, through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. This study uses the classroom action research (CAR) method adapted from the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research was conducted at SD Uswatun Hasanah. The subjects of this classroom action research were 28 students of Class IV- A at SD Uswatun Hasanah, consisting of 15 male and 13 female students. The Minimum Mastery Criteria for the critical thinking test in science was set at a score of ≥75, with a target mastery of 80% of all students. The results showed an improvement in critical thinking skills after applying the Project Based Learning model in teaching, as evidenced by the increase in students’ critical thinking skills in each cycle. The percentage of students’ critical thinking skills in the pre-cycle was 36%. In Cycle I, after learning using the Project Based Learning model, there was a significant increase to 71%. In Cycle II, students’ critical thinking skills increased again to 89%. Thus, it can be concluded that learning using the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model can improve students’ critical thinking skills
