Abstract

Rituals about death can be seen as a family's willingness to lose a member, but also as an attempt to provide confidence in the transition from the world of the living to the world of the dead. These rituals are often only carried out at certain times and become important for adults. Meanwhile, the death of a child under five, especially when a miscarriage occurs, is often not remembered. In fact, this is not entirely true for the Javanese Mataraman community. Through this research, the presence of children under five and/or fetuses in the womb that died has taken an important position in the kupatan tradition. These memories should be suspected of helping to minimize infant deaths and miscarriages. This can be known by using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective of E. Husserl on the Kupatan tradition of Javanese society. This tradition is not only carried out in rural areas, but in urban areas. Through the illness narrative, the Kupatan tradition has socialized the importance of care during pregnancy. In the kupatan tradition, narratives of success and failure in pregnancy care are well recorded. From the narrative of failure, a mother and her husband develop a business for their success.

Abstract

Keluarga menjadi lembaga sosial terkecil dalam masyarakat. Keluarga mempunyai peran penting salah satunya dalam proses pengasuhan anak. Pola asuh yang dilakukan oleh keluarga nantinya akan membentuk kepribadian dari individu dalam hidup bermasyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna denotatif, konotatif, serta mitos yang terkandung dalam video youtube Nikita Willy yang berjudul "Sedikit tips parenting dari Nikita Willy", "Ini Buku Parenting yang dibaca Nikita Willy", dan "Kata Eyang Puteri dan Newa Issa lebih mirip Indra daripada Nikita Willy kalau menurut kalian gimana?", serta mengetahui modal yang dimiliki Nikita Willy dalam proses pengasuhan anak berdasarkan teori modal milik Pierre Bourdieu. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes atau two order of significations yang terdiri dari makna denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Berdasarkan hasil analisis semiotika Roland Barthes maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pola pengasuhan yang dilakukan oleh Nikita Willy didukung oleh modal yang dimiliki seperti modal ekonomi, modal budaya, dan modal sosial.

Abstract

This study analyzed beauty myths on Instagram accounts of three aesthetic clinics in Indonesia using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. Results showed that First, the women were characterized as an object and became the victims, and beauty standards were reconstructed and reproduced by the subjects, namely the Instagram accounts of @dermaster_id, @ertosbeautyclinic, and @natashaskincare aesthetic clinics. Women objectification could not be separated from the existing beauty myth. Second, there were two categories of beauty representations formed in the three Instagram accounts, namely men's beauty representation that consisted of smooth faces, young looks, and firm jaws, and women's beauty representations that consisted of thin cheeks, firm jaw, firm skin, smooth, acne-free, attractive skin, glass skin, and slim, and halal beauty. The study is expected to enrich the repertoire of social science, especially sociology, and develop research on the sociology of the body, feminism study, and the sociology of gender and media.

Abstract

Entering the global economy, women in Indonesia still have to bear the burden of the economy in their household even a country. Moreover, they get inequality fee in their job. It means that men get more than women. However, on the other side, the role of women in a family and national economy is one of the important parts in the whole construction along with the increasing of women’s income. It is pointed by the presence of women entrepreneurs in micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME/UMKM) which becomes reality economic life in a considerable part of Indonesian people.

Abstract

The development of the Integrity Zone is based on Permenpan RB Number 10 of 2019 as an amendment to Permenpan RB Number 52 of 2014 concerning Guidelines for the Development of Integrity Zones Towards Corruption-Free Areas and Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Areas. The enactment of this regulation made Surabaya State University try to obtain the title of integrity zone by appointing the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law as a model faculty. In practice, the Social Sciences and Law faculty innovate digital-based public services through the Sidilan Application. This research aims to analyze the development and application of SIDILAN in improving the quality of public services. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. This research focuses on theories about the elements of successful e-Government development which include support, capacity and value. The research results show that these three indicators have supported the successful implementation and development of SIDILAN in improving the quality of public services in the Social Sciences and Law faculty. However, there are still no legal products from universities that use a legal basis. Apart from that, it is hoped that SIDILAN socialization can be carried out directly to increase understanding and minimize miscommunication regarding the services needed.

Abstract

The employment of female workers (TKW) has become a significant social phenomenon in the context of globalization and migration. In this study, we focus our attention on the role of gender in the work of migrant workers, using the Karawang case study as a background. The aim of this research is to assess, analyze and understand how gender roles influence the work of TKW in Karawang, as well as its impact on their welfare. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach. Research findings show that gender roles in TKW work in Karawang are closely related to cultural norms, community expectations and job demands. The work carried out by migrant workers is often influenced by gender stereotypes which lead to job segregation based on gender. We also found that gender roles influence income levels, access to certain jobs, and understanding of their rights as migrant workers. The impact of these gender roles not only includes economic aspects, but also physical and emotional aspects of migrant workers' well-being.

Abstract

Kemiskinan menjadi persoalan krusial di perkotaan. Bantuan dari pemerintah hadir agar masyarakat miskin kota tidak termarjinalkan. Peraturan dibuat sedemikian rupa agar bantuan tepat sasaran salah satunya melalui penempelan stiker Keluarga miskin di rumah. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana konsep diri masyarakat pemilik rumah stiker keluarga miskin di Bumiarjo, Surabaya dengan menggunakan teori interaksionisme simbolik george herbert mead. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara dan observasi. Wawancara dilakukan kepada tiga informan. Penentuan subjek penelitian dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria khusus masyarakat pemilik rumah berstiker keluarga miskin di Bumiarjo, Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menyatakan penerima stiker keluarga miskin tidak mempermasalahkan persoalan kebijakan pelabelan tersebut. Hal ini membuat terbentuknya konsep diri dalam masyarakat tersebut sebagai masyarakat miskin yang biasa saja dan layak untuk menerima bantuan dari pemerintah. Hasil penelitian ini tentunya terdapat perbedaan dengan penelitian terdahulu dalam hal konsep diri masyarakat Kota Surabaya yang tergambar pada hasil penelitian.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengidentifikasikan peran dan partisipasi politik perempuan di era reformasi, khususnya Pemilukada di Jatim, kondisi obyektif yang mempengaruhi peningkatan partisipasi politik perempuan di Pemilukada Jatim, dan faktor penghambat partisipasi politik perempuan di Pemilukada Jatim. Pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif digunakan dan kesimpulannya :1) Partisipasi politik perempuan di Pemilukada Jatim terbatas pada 3 tipologi, pertama, ikut serta memilih kandidat kepala daerah. Kedua, mengikuti dan tertarik isu-isu politik. Ketiga, aktif dalam proses pemilukada. 2) Faktor yang mendorong partisipasi politik perempuan adalah peningkatan kualitas pribadi perempuan melalui pendidikan, kemandirian ekonomi memuculkan kepercayaan diri, aktif dalam ormas, terkikisnya budaya patriarkhi, penafsiran sempit ajaran agama oleh modernisasi, dan penerapan sistem politik terbuka serta kebijakan affirmative action. 3) Faktor penghambat partisipasi politik perempuan yaitu rendahnya tingkat pendidikan dan kualifikasi personal, rendahnya pemahaman  hak dan kewajiban politik, tidak mandiri secara ekonomi, inferioritas perempuan terhadap laki-laki, budaya patriarkhi masih kental, dan penafsiran ajaran agama yang sempit tentang pemimpin perempuan Kata Kunci    : Kajian Politik Perempuan, Pemilukada, Jawa Timur.

Abstract

Fenomena fashion saat ini tidak lagi memandang gender dalam penggunaannya. Seperti halnya yang dilakukan oleh aming dan juga mitha the virgin pada akun instagramnya. Sehingga peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti bagaimana makna yang ingin ditunjukkan oleh mereka dalam penggunaan fashionnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna denotatf, makna konotatif, serta mitos yang ada pada gambar fshion yang ada pada Instagram @amingisback dan @mithathevirgin. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Data dihasilkan dari hasil analisis media dan juga studi literatur melalui buku, artikel jurnal, webstie, dan lain sbeagainya. Kemudian data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat makna konotatif dan denotatif serta mitos yang ditampilkan dimana fashion tidak lagi ditampilkan dengan memandang gender yang ada. Foto yang ditampilkan dalam kedua akun intagram tersebut terdapat unsur gendereless fashion dimana mereka mengesampingkan identitas gender dalam fashion seperti maskulin dan feminim dalam fashion.

Abstract

This research examines what ideologies Film Television (FTv) offered during the COVID-19 pandemic and how these ideologies developed in the FTv using framing analysis and a gender perspective approach. Results indicate that there are two hidden ideologies as follows. First, the FTv production house carries a patriarchal ideology by raising themes that discriminate against women through stereotypes against women that appear in the story. Second, the FTv production house carries the ideology of feminism, with themes that position women as superordinate. Women occupy a higher social class than men. Women determine their own lives; even women have power over men. Academically, these findings are expected to add to the theoretical study in the sociology of communication and media research on how the power of knowledge in FTv affects the audience and contributes information, and enriches the development of research on gender relations and violence.
