Abstract

Hutan rakyat adalah hutan tanaman yang tumbuh di atas lahan milik rakyat atau masyarakat. Sengon (Falcataria moluccana) dan balsa (Ochroma pyramidale) merupakan jenis multi fungsi dan cepat tumbuh yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia, khususnya di Pulau Jawa. Serangan penyakit hutan merupakan ancaman yang berpotensi mengganggu kegiatan budidaya kedua jenis ini, serta dapat merugikan secara ekologi, ekonomi, dan sosial. Pengenalan penyakit hutan merupakan kegiatan preventif yang sangat penting dalam pengelolaan penyakit hutan itu sendiri. Tujuan pengabdian pada masyarakat dalam “Program Dosen IPB Pulang Kampung” ini adalah sebagai upaya capacity building masyarakat sekitar hutan melalui penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan terkait pengenalan (identifikasi) dan pengelolaan penyakit pada hutan tanaman yang ditujukan bagi para masyarakat petani hutan dan/atau pihak (stakeholder) terkait di Desa Ngancar, Kabupaten Kediri, Jawa Timur. Secara umum, program ini membantu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman peserta dalam mengidentifikasi penyakit hutan tanaman, khususnya untuk jenis sengon dan balsa. Hal tersebut diindikasikan dari hasil penilaian dan evaluasi terhadap kuisioner (pre- dan post-test) para peserta pelatihan yang menunjukkan peningkatan, masing-masing, yaitu 7% (pelatihan Gelombang I) dan 9% (pelatihan Gelombang II). Community forests are forest plantations that grow on land owned by the people or community. Sengon (Falcataria moluccana) and balsa (Ochroma pyramidale) are multi-functional and fast-growing species that are widely cultivated in Indonesia, especially on the island of Java. Forest disease outbreaks are a potential threat that can disrupt the cultivation of these two species, and can cause ecological, economic, and social harm. The introduction of forest disease is a preventive action that is very important in managing of forest diseases. The aim of the community service in the “Program Dosen IPB Pulang Kampung” is to build the capacity of communities around the forest through counselling, training, and assistance related to the identification and management of diseases in forest plantations, targeting forest farmers and/or stakeholders in Ngancar Village, Kediri Regency, East Java. In general, this program helps to increase the knowledge and experience of participants in identifying forest diseases, specifically for sengon and balsa species. This is indicated by the results of the assessment and evaluation of questionnaires (pre- and post-tests) of the training participants, which showed an increase of 7% (Batch I) and 9% (Batch II).

Abstract

Rencana rehabilitasi tanaman hutan membutuhkan benih dan bibit dalam jumlah besar. Pemenuhan kebutuhan bibit dapat diperoleh melalui sertifikasi benih tanaman hutan. Penggunaan benih bersertifikasi juga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman sehingga hasil panen memiliki nilai ekonomi yang lebih tinggi. Salah satu sumber benih dan bibit tanaman hutan bersertifikat yang diperlukan masyarakat adalah sengon. Pelatihan seleksi pohon plus melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan untuk memberikan informasi dan membantu petani dan masyarakat desa hutan (LMDH) binaan UPTD Perbenihan Jawa Tengah dalam memilih pohon induk yang unggul. Kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi interaktif, dan praktikum langsung di lapang. Evaluasi keberhasilan pelatihan dilihat dari peningkatan nilai post-test peserta pelatihan. Hasil post-test peserta mengalami peningkatan sebesar 48%. Berdasarkan tingkat pendidikan, peningkatan tertinggi terdapat pada peserta dengan tingkat pendidikan S1 yaitu sebesar 40,4 poin. Berdasarkan rentang usia, peningkatan nilai tertinggi berada pada rentang usia 25-35 tahun dan 36-46 tahun. Pelatihan seleksi pohon plus dapat dikatakan berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta pelatihan. Semua pihak berharap kegiatan serupa dapat diadakan kembali.

Abstract

Soil macrofauna is one of the important components of soil organisms that play a role in maintaining soil fertility through the breakdown of organic matter, nutrient distribution, and their activities can increase aeration and water infiltration. This study aims to calculate and compare the diversity, abundance, richness, evenness and similarity of soil macrofauna species in four different forest stands, namely secondary forests, oil palm plantations, ironwood stands and rubber stands in the Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin Grand Forest Park, Batang Hari Regency, Jambi Province. Direct sampling method using handsorting. Samples that have been taken are put into a sample bottle containing 70% alcohol. The identification of insect samples refers to the insect identification book in the Forest Entomology Laboratory of the Silviculture Department, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, Bogor Agricultural University. The highest species diversity is found in secondary forests, while the lowest species diversity is found in oil palm plantations. Abstract

 Usaha pengembangan kelas perusahaan sengon oleh Kesatuan Pemangkuan Hutan (KPH) Banten memerlukan bibit sengon unggul agar menghasilkan tanaman yang berkualitas dan bernilai jual tinggi. Benih unggul dapat diperoleh melalui proses sertifikasi benih. Sertifikasi benih adalah pengujian dan pemeriksaan dalam rangka penerbitan sertifikat mutu benih yang bertujuan memberikan jaminan kualitas mutu benih yang unggul dan melindungi pengguna benih dari peredaran benih palsu atau benih yang mutunya kurang baik. Sertifikasi benih memerlukan beberapa persyaratan yang tidak mudah untuk dipenuhi karena tergantung pada kualitas benih yang dipanen dan sumber benih. Oleh karena itu, perlu diadakan pelatihan untuk petani hutan dan anggota Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan (LMDH) dalam memilih benih yang unggul dan berkualitas untuk ditanam. Kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan melalui penyampaian materi dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi. Sebelum dan setelah pelatihan peserta diwajibkan mengisi lembar tes dan kuisioner untuk mengukur pengetahuan peserta dan mengetahui keberhasilan pelatihan. Penggunaan benih bersertifikat sudah banyak dilakukan masyarakat, sebesar 63% diantaranya menganggap bibit memiliki pertumbuhan yang baik. Hasil pre-test dan post-test peserta pelatihan mengalami peningkatan sebesar 40,7%. Meningkatnya rata-rata nilai menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta.

Abstract

The establishment of forest plantation of Eucalyptus deglupta in the humid tropic, for pulp and paper industry has so far been hindered seriously by insect stem borer larvae (Zeuzera coffeae ), damaging young and mature stands, and cause important financial lost. Coupling with integral forest pest management and good silvicultural treatements, a strategy for resistance breeding program to stem borer larvea need to be developped for that promising species, in order to establish sound industrial plantation and to accelerate genetic gain achievement per unit time. This study deal with the assement of E. deglupta woods properties, (including anatomical, physicals properties, and chemical substances), that may supposedly be directly implied in resistency mechanisms of Leda againts insect stem borer attack. The preliminary results indicated that sound, tolerant and resistant indvidual trees tend to have higher wood density, than unhealty one. Sound, resistant and tolerant trees tend also to have greater and statistically different in fiber length, fiber diameter, cells walls thickness and lumen diameter than that of unhealty one, especially from that one that have been fortly attacked by stem borer. The preliminary results also indicated that resistance trees tend to exhibit more alcaloid, terpenoid and flavonoid content than the unhealty one. However, the results need to be confirmed by addition of more wood samples to be analyzed for each type of degree of insect injury.

Abstract

Peningkatan produktivitas sengon dapat dimulai dengan melakukan teknik budidaya yang tepat dan memperhatikan kualitas tapak. Namun masih banyak masyarakat terutama petani kurang memahami aspek tersebut, akibatnya produktivitas sengon tidak maksimal. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sosialisasi dan pelatihan mengenai teknik budidaya sengon yang baik dan benar. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada Senin, 10 Juni 2024 di Kantor Persemaian Permanen,Balai Sertifikasi dan Perbenihan Tanaman Hutan (BSPTH) Jawa Tengah, Kabupaten Semarang. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti oleh petani, pengedar benih, dan penyuluh kehutanan dari Dinas Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Jawa Tengah. Materi disampaikan dengan metode ceramah, dan dilanjutkan dengan diskusi interaktif. Keberhasilan pelatihan dilihat dari hasil pre-test dan post-test yang dikerjakan peserta. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kenaikan persentase nilai sebesar 19%. Peserta dengan jenjang pendidikan S1 memiliki nilai post-test tertinggi (84.2%), sementara berdasar rentang usia, nilai post-test tertinggi dimiliki peserta berusia 36-46 tahun (85.4%). Adanya peningkatan nilai post test menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan telah berhasil menambah pengetahuan peserta pelatihan.

Abstract

The vegetation and wildlife of Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (GHSNP) are quite diverse. Ants (family: Formicidae) are among the diversity's less studied components. The hilly terrain of Gunung Halimun Salak National Park has not seen considerable alterationOne of the more fascinating aspects of studying wildlife is insects, particularly ants. Research on ants in the mountains at different elevations has been scarce up to this point. The purpose of this study is to examine the ant community at seven different elevations in terms of abundance, variety, and community similarity and to determine how ant diversity and environmental factors relate to one another. The soil arthropods were collected using pitfall traps, placed in several altitudes, i.e., 500 m, 700 m, 900 m, 1100 m, 1300 m, 1500 m, and 1700 m . Overall, 1536 ants were measured for abundance throughout all high-altitude habitats. At 700 m, the greatest number of arthropods (365 individuals) was found. There were just 85 ants at the maximum elevation of 1700 meters, which was the lowest ant abundance. The dominant morphospecies of the order Hymnoptera/ants (Formicidae) were Pheidole sp. and Polyarchis sp.

Abstract

Butterfly is one of insect that comes from Lepidotera and has a very important role in maintaining ecosystem. Tangkahan is a Gunung Leuser National Park buffer zone that has been defined as a tourism area and make butterfly as one of tourism object. This study aims to identify and analyze the diversity of butterfly by active time (morning and afternoon) as well as the diversity of food plant and host plant in three types of buffer zones area. This research was conducted in December 2015 to February 2016 in Tangkahan, Gunung Leuser National Park buffer zone. The data was collected on three types of land cover that sattlement, river and forest.The observation of butterfly, food plant and host plant diversity were done using transect Pollard Method. Based on the study 5 family of butterflies were recorded with number of species as many as 61 species and 1.213 individuals. Food plants species were found as many as 48 species, while hosts plant were 27 species, and consisted of covercrop, sapling and poles. The highest of butterfly and food plant diversity index were recorded in the settlement for 3,43 and 2,75, the highest of host plant diversity index was recorded in the forest for 2,06.  Keyword: butterfly, food plant, host plant

Abstract

Hutan merupakan salah satu bentuk ekosistem dengan karakteristik habitat yang berbeda untuk spesies tertentu. Terjadinya deforestasi atau perubahan fungsi dari hutan menjadi non-hutan akan mempengaruhi ekosistem dan spesies di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghitung kelimpahan jenis Collembola permukaan tanah di setiap ekosistem, mengidentifikasi jenis Collembola permukaan tanah yang ditemukan, mengidentifikasi pola sebaran Collembola permukaan tanah, menjelaskan pengaruh faktor lingkungan terhadap keberadaan Collembola permukaan tanah dan mengidentifikasi tipe serta bentuk asosiasi antara Collembola permukaan tanah dan Acari. Kegiatan di lapangan meliputi pembuatan Littertrap, pemanenan serasah, ekstraksi Collembola permukaan tanah dan Acari dengan teknik Berlese-Tullgren, pengukuran faktor lingkungan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan identifikasi Collembola permukaan tanah dan Acari. Kelimpahan jenis Collembola permukaan tanah rata-rata tertinggi terdapat pada ekosistem oil palm plantation. Total individu yang ditemukan di semua tipe ekosistem sebanyak 1 618 individu terdiri dari 13 genus dan 6 famili yaitu Cyphoderidae, Entomobryidae, Isotomidae, Oncopoduridae, Paronellidae, Dicyrtomidae serta 2 ordo yaitu Entomobyromorpha dan Symphypleona dengan pola sebaran mengelompok pada semua tipe ekosistem. Keberadaan Collembola permukaan tanah sangat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor lingkungan baik biotik maupun abiotik, dari semua tipe ekosistem hanya ekosistem secondary forest yang tidak memiliki hubungan asosiasi antara Collembola permukaan tanah dan Acari.

Abstract

Community forests play significant role in supplying national demand of woods, sustaining local ecosystem and increasing benefit for local community. Tree plantings for both community forests and rehabilitation of degraded forests and lands, however often neglect utilization of good quality seeds, which resulted in low quality of forest plantation. In order to support the procurement of good quality seeds, it is necessary to raise awareness of local community, seeds providers and forest extension workers on the production of good quality seeds through tree selection program. This paper reported the activity to build the capacity of local community, seeds providers and forest extension workers on plus trees selection, as sources of good quality seeds production. The training activity took place two times at Ngancar Village, Kediri Regency, East Java. The participants in each training received lectures in a classroom and hand-in practical work on tree selection techniques in the field. The topics given are considered as important by participants, as evident from the increasing number of participants in the second time of training. Analysis of pre- and post-test conducted showed that the participants knowledge and skill increased by 27,9 % after training, regardless of their ages and educational backgrounds.
