Abstract

Project based learning is a method that focusing on students centered by using project as the way of practicing knowledge. RELT subject is a subject learnt about research in English framework. This research aim is to know students’ perception of using project based learning in learning RELT subject. The researched also gain the feedback after using this method. This research using qualitative method. Technique sampling was purposive sampling. The sample was sixth students from sixth semester. Instrument of the research was interview. The data analysis using Miles and Huberman model. Using Project based learning in different level of students also give the difference result. Using PjBL in learning RELT subject was effective. It is because the students were in adult age where they can use their critical thinking. So, even this method still had a weak, but students and lecturer still can gain maximum knowledge and experience. Students also active to give feedback, they didn’t hide the problems, this make lecturer easier to fix the problems.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is intended to investigate the Effectiveness of Clustering Technique on Students’ Writing Skill: a Study on Islamic Senior High School Students’ in Mandailing Natal, Indonesia. This research used quantitave research by using experimental method. The sample were X MIPA 1 as experimental group that consisted of 24 students and X MIPA 2 as control group that consisted of 24 students. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test in essay test form and analyzed by using Independent Sample T-test. The result of this research showed that the mean score of experimental group was higher than the mean score of control group. After doing t-test, the researcher found that tcount > ttable (6.98 > 2.012). It means Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. It can be concluded that there was significant effect on students’ writing skill in learning by using clustering technique on Islamic Senior High School Students in Mandailing Natal, Indonesia. Abstract

RELT subject is a subject learnt about research in English framework. This research aim is to know students’ acceptance of using project based learning in learning RELT subject. The researched also gain the feedback after using this method. This research using quantitative method by (Creswell 2014). Technique sampling was purposive sampling. The sample were sixty students from sixth semester. Instrument of the research was questionnaire. The data analysis using Likert scale. Using Project based learning in different level of students also give the difference result. Using PjBL in learning RELT subject was effective. It can be shown from the data result, the mean score was 76% students agree with the using of project based learning metjod in learning RELT subject. The data shown each statements answer was only 2-3 students who answered disagre. Students felt comfortable. Here researcher can know that the using of projects based learning accepted. Abstract

The condition of learning in the post-pandemic era varies; although the learning process can be fully offline, some universities do blended learning. A blended learning system also happened in UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan. This paper aims to inform the needs of students in learning research in ELT subjects; it was one of the subjects distributed to English students at this university. The data were taken using mixed-method methods, and the data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. 61 (sixty-one) students filled out the questionnaires, and 10 (ten) students were asked to get interviews. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. After analyzing the data, it was found that the students liked to study using several methods. Although they have been stated to study with several methods, the highest percentage is Project-based Learning (PjBL). Based on the result, it can be concluded that the students need the PjBL in learning Research in English Language Teaching (RELT) subject matter. The students agreed that this learning method could prepare them to write a final task in their study

Abstract

Introduction to The Problem: Reading interest is important for the students to learn; and reading materials is also important. Purpose: The purposes of this study were to identify students' reading interest and to explore the effectiveness of local-culture based learning materials to the students' interest of reading of English Department IAIN Padangsidimpuan. Design/methods/approach: It was done by using quasi-experimental research, with pre-test and post-test design. Data were collected by using reading interest questionnaires, and analysed by using SPSS 20 to know means, standard deviation, and independent t-test. Findings: After analysing, the students' reading interest in pre-test was 43.58 and in post-test was 60.11. Using local culture-based learning materials to students' reading interest has significant effect, because the value of significance of t-test value (0.000) smaller than 0.05, and hypotheses was accepted. Research implications/limitations: Thus, it was suggested to the lecturers to be more creative to use learning materials. It will be better if the learning materials given are having relationship to the students' life and culture in order to make them activating their schemata in reading, because it helps the students in comprehend what they learn.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Penelitian ini mengangkat masalah penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Program STudi Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Padangsidimpuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dimana peneliti ingin mendeskripsikan tentang penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris mahasiswa. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa mahasiswa lemah dalam memahami kosa kata terkaitdalam penggunaan prefix, suffix, synonym, antonym, polisemy, homonym dan hyponym. Dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut dosen menjelaskan dan memberikan contoh – contoh tambahan serta memberikan tugas - tugas terkait, dan juga selalu memebrikan motivasi agar mahasiswa belajar dengan lebih baik.Key Word:    Analysis, Students’ Ability, Vocabulary, and Understanding Vocabulary

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: to describe the students’ reading comprehension through guessing strategy and to identify the factors which influenced students’ reading comprehension through guessing strategy at Grade XI MAS Darul Istiqomah Hutapadang - Pijorkoling. This research used classroom action research consisted of two cycles. Moreover, the participants of this research were the class of XI (19 students) and there was collaboration with an English teacher. Meanwhile, the data was derived from reading comprehension tests, observation, and interview. Students’ score in cycle 1 was 62.24 (4%) and students’ score in cycle 2 was 78.68 (79%). Based on the research result in cycle 1 and cycle 2, it showed the improvement of students’ mean score and students’ percentage. So, students’ improvement in reading comprehension through guessing strategy was good category (high).

Abstract

AbstrakAdapun tujuan penulisan ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kalimat, paragraf dan terjemahan. Kalimat adalah susunan beberapa kata yang terdiri subjek, predikat dan objeck yang diakhiri dengan titik. Paragraf adalah susunan dari beberapa kalimat yang mempunyai satu kesatuan yang utuh dan ide pokok dalam paragaf tersebut. Dari definisi tersebut maka siswa harus memiliki kemampuan dalam menterjemahkan kalimat dan paragraf.Kata Kunci : Kalimat, Paragraf dan Terjemahan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan efek Reciprocal Teaching Strategy (RTS) dan Question Answer Relationship (QAR) terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas XI di MAN Sipirol lokasi Dano Situmba tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Sample untuk kelas Experiment 1 adalah kelas XI MIA – 3 yang terdiri dari 29 siswa sedangkan sample untuk kelas Experiment 2 adalah kelas XI MIA – 2 yang juga terdiri dari 29 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-post test dengan bentuk tes pilihan berganda dan analisis data nya dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan rata-rata skor sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan RTS dan strategy QAR. Rata-rata skor pada kelas experiment 1 sebelum menggunakan RTS adalah 63.5 dan rata-rata skor setelah menggunakan RTS adalah 75.34. Sedangkan rata-rata kelas pada kelas experiment 2 sebelum menggunakan QAR strategy adalah 63.48 dan rata-rata skor setelah menggunakan QAR adalah 73.79. Perbedaan skor kedua kelas experiment tersebut adalah 1.58 dengan t0 lebih tinggi dar tt (2.053 ˃ 1.672) yang berarti Ha diterima. Jadi, ditemukan perbedaan pengaruh yang significant pada RTS dan QAR Strategy terhadap membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas XI MAN Sipirok lokasi Dano Situmba.

Abstract

AbstractPenelitian ini terkait dengan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa STAIN Padangsidimpuan secara akademis. Menulis tulisan akademis maksudnya menulis tulisan secara ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis essay mahasiswa semester VII TBI STAIN Padangsidimpuan, selain itu juga untuk mengetahui kesulitan yang dimiliki mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan menulis karya ilmiahnya. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis masih cukup rendah, dan kesulitan mereka adalah dalam mengarang karangan imilah, dalam hal pengembangan ide dan kosa kata. Key Word: Students, Ability, and Academic Writing.
