Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the larvicidal effect of rumput Kebar ethanol extract againts A. aegypti larvae. Seven hundred and twenty larvae of third instars were divided into 3 series and consist of 4 concentrations, (0 ppm, 2000 ppm, 2500 ppm and 3000 ppm) with 3 replications. Each group using 20 larvae of third instars were placed in 200 ml of treatment solutions. The effect of the treatments were monitored by counting the number of dead larvae after 24 h, 48 h and 72 h of exposure. Data was analyzed by ANOVA and Probit analysis was used to find out Lethal Concentration50 and LC90. The results showed that the average mortality is highest on the concentration of 3000 ppm after 72 h of exposure were 27 (36,15%). LC50 and LC90 values of 4770.626 ppm and 8264.651 ppm after 24 h of exposure.

Abstract

Ascaridia galli (A. galli) is a parasitic nematode that is often found in chickens which causes weight depression and retarded growth, reduced egg production and decreased egg quality. This study aims to determine the morphology of A. galli eggs and larvae 2 (L2) in domestic chickens. Worm eggs are obtained from adult worms that infect domestic chickens naturally. Larvae were obtained from culturing worm eggs in vitro at room temperature for 25 days. A total of 100 worm eggs and 10 L2 were used in this study. Egg measurements included length and width, while larvae included the total length of the larvae carried out with the Axiovision LE software from photographs taken using a light microscope. Data is processed using Microsoft Excel and is presented in the form of mean ± standard deviation and percent. Results obtained: egg length in this study was shorter than the results of previous studies and the morphology of larvae was the same as previous researchers. Abstract

The recent study was carried out to determine the effect of Kebar grass extract of N-hexane  (Biophytum petersianum Klotzsch) for 28 days peroral on weight, ADG and weight of vital organs of white rat. Forty male and female rats of Sprague Dawley strain aged 8 weeks were examined. The formulated rats were divided into four groups, group I (control), group II, III, IV (treatment), in which each consisted of five rats. The feed were given as much as 15 g/rat/day, while drinking ad libitum. In the control group, the rats were given solvent extract, group II, III and IV were given fraction of n-hexane of Kebar grass extract at 1 mg/kg BW, 5 mg/kg BW and 10 mg/kg BW peroral, respectively. Test preparation was given daily for 28 days, observation of toxic symptoms was performed every day while weighing was performed once every two weeks. Based on results obtained in this line of research, the findings indicated that Kebar extract administration for 28 days did not cause toxic symptoms in both male and female rats either in dose II, III or IV. Weight and ADG of male and female rats did not indicate significant differences between the control group and the treatment group. Keywords:  kebar grass, rats, subcronic toxicity test, OECD 407

Abstract

Kambing Peranakan Ettawa (PE) merupakan salah satu ternak yang cukup potensial sebagai penyedia protein hewani (daging dan susu). Kambing PE merupakan bangsa kambing hasil persilangan antara kambing Kacang dengan kambing Ettawa. Kambing PE memiliki sifat antara kambing Ettawah dengan kambing Kacang. Bobot badan kambing PE sekitar 32 – 37 kg dan produksi susunya 1 – 1,5 liter per hari. Kambing PE berfungsi sebagai ternak penghasil daging dan susu (Setiawan dan Tanius, 2002). Kambing PE merupakan hasil persilangan antara kambing kacang (lokal) dengan kambing Ettawa (impor) (Sodiq dan Abidin, 2008). Sementara ini, pengembangan kambing PE sebagai penghasil susu belum banyak diperhatikan dan pemeliharaan masih bersifat tradisional. Pakannya sebagian besar hanya rumput dan daun–daunan, sehingga belum bisa mencukupi kebutuhan produksi ternak terutama kecukupan gizinya.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The activity was carried out to determine the health status of qurban animals and the worthiness of the qurban meat during eid al-Adha in Manokwari Regency through antemortem and postmortem examinations along with the application of health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. Six hundred fifty-six beef cattle were examined. The antemortem examination includes the observation of the general condition, eye mucosa, anus, and fecal matter. The liver and rumen were examined through direct observation (inspection) of the presence of worm parasites. Covid-19 health protocol observations were carried out on butchers, meat officers, and the facilities around the activity. The data were analyzed descriptively and presented in percentages and figures. The average Body Condition Score (BCS) of the cattle was 3 to 4. The locomotion and skin turgor was normal. In general, the examined meat was fit for consumption. The eye mucosa color in the examined cows was pink. The anus condition of all the cows examined is clean and the stool consistency is soft. A total of 106 livers (16.16%) had fasciolosis and 89 rumens (13.57%) were positively infested with Paramphistomum sp. Most of the slaughter places have implemented health protocols with body temperature checks, washing their hands when entering the slaughtering area and most of the workers have to wear a mask. Keywords: Qurban Animals; Heartworms; Covid-19 ABSTRAK Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status kesehatan hewan kurban dan kelayakan daging kurban di Kabupaten Manokwari melalui pemeriksaan antemortem dan postmortem dan penerapan protokol kesehatan selama wabah covid-19. Hewan yang diperiksa adalah sapi dengan jumlah sebanyak 656 ekor. Pemeriksaan terdiri atas ante-mortem meliputi pemeriksaan keadaan umum, mukosa mata, anus dan feses dengan cara inspeksi dan pemeriksaan post-mortem, meliputi: hati dan rumen yang dilakukan dengan pengamatan langsung (inspeksi) keberadaan parasit cacing dalam organ periksa. Pengamatan protokol kesehatan covid-19 dilakukan pada: petugas jagal, petugas daging, petugas jeroan dan fasilitas disekitar kegiatan berlangsung. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam persen dan gambar. Rerata Body Condition Score (BCS) sapi yang disembelih adalah 3 sampai 4. Lokomosi 100% dan turgor kulit normal. Secara umum daging yang diperiksa layak dikonsumsi. Rerata warna mukosa mata pada sapi yang diperiksa adalah merah muda. Keadaan anus dari seluruh sapi yang diperiksa adalah bersih dan konsistensi fesesnya lunak. Sebanyak 106 organ hati sapi (16,16%) yang diperiksa mengalami fasciolosis dan sebanyak 89 rumen (13,57%) positif terinfestasi Paramphistomum sp. Sebagian besar tempat penyembelihan telah melakukan protokol kesehatan berupa pemeriksaan suhu tubuh, wajib cuci tangan saat memasuki area penyembelihan dan sebagian besar petugas jagal, petugas daging dan petugas jeroan telah mengenakan masker. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas fisik, lama penyimpanan dan rantai pemasaran telur ayam ras pasok pada distributor dan pengecer di Kabupaten Manokwari Provinsi Papua Barat. Sampel telur diambil dari tiga distributor dengan lama penyimpanan 12 hari dari pengecer yaitu pasar tradisional dan pasar moderen untuk masing-masing lama penyimpanan 17 hari dan 22 hari. Kualitas fisik yang diukur adalah kedalaman kantong udara, indeks albumin dan indeks yolk serta lama penyimpanan telur yang meliputi 12 hari, 17 hari dan 22 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa telur ayam ras pasok yang beredar di Kabupaten Manokwari telah mengalami penurunan kualitas fisik. Setelah lama penyimpanan 17 hari, berdasarkan badan standar nasional telur ayam ras pasok tidak layak dikonsumsi sehingga seharusnya tidak dipasarkan.

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to determine the vermicidal potency of the infusion of Buah Merah seeds, Rumput Kebar and betel nut peels against Ascaridia galli in chickens and body length of male and female A. galli. Dry test materials (5%, 10% and 15% for each concentration) were immersed in 100 ml of distilled water and incubated at 90 °C for 15 minutes. The solution was filtered using filter paper, and the filtrate was used in the treatment. Three active worms that obtained directly from chicken intestines were placed in 15 cm Petri dishes containing 25 ml of each treatment and control solution. Five replications were performed for each treatment. Observations were made 8 hours after treatment for paralysis and worm death. Measurements of the body length were made from the anterior end to the posterior end of the worm using a ruler. Observational data were processed using Anova, the significant difference was continued by the Tukey HSD test (P<0.05) with SPSS 16.0. Conclusion: all the materials used in this study have potential as anthelmintics against A. galli and the highest dose of rumput Kebar infusion is the best vermicidal. The body length of female A. galli is longer than of the male. Keywords: Betel nut peels; Buah merah seeds; Infusion; Rumput kebar; Vermicidal Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi vermisidal infusa biji Buah Merah, Rumput Kebar dan kulit buah Pinang terhadap Ascaridia galli pada ayam dan ukuran panjang tubuh A. galli jantan dan betina. Bahan uji kering (5%, 10% dan 15% untuk masing-masing konsentrasi) direndam dalam 100 ml aquadestillata dan diinkubasi pada suhu 90 °C selama 15 menit. Larutan disaring menggunakan kertas saring, dan filtratnya digunakan dalam perlakuan. Tiga cacing yang aktif bergerak yang diperoleh langsung dari usus ayam, ditempatkan dalam cawan Petri berukuran 15 cm yang berisi 25 ml masing-masing larutan perlakuan dan kontrol. Dilakukan lima ulangan untuk setiap perlakuan. Pengamatan dilakukan 8 jam setelah perlakuan terhadap paralisis dan kematian cacing. Pengukuran dilakukan dari ujung anterior ke ujung posterior cacing menggunakan penggaris. Data hasil pengamatan diolah menggunakan Anova, perbedaan nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey HSD (P<0,05) dengan SPSS 16.0. Kesimpulan: seluruh bahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini memiliki potensi sebagai anthelmintik terhadap A. galli dan dosis tertinggi infusa rumput Kebar merupakan vermisidal yang paling baik. Abstract

Abstract This activity aims to determine the process of providing Eid al-Adha animal meat in Manokwari Regency, Yogyakarta and Magelang City. Observations of the process were carried out directly which included slaughtering until the meat was packaged in each of the 3 mosques located in Manokwari Regency, Yogyakarta and Magelang City. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in tables and figures. The number of Eid al-Adha animals slaughtered was 59 cows and 96 goats/sheep with the highest number of Eid al-Adha animals in Yogyakarta. The process of preparing Eid al-Adha animal meat in Manokwari Regency and Magelang City is the same, which consists of slaughtering, peeling, chopping, weighing and packaging. Meanwhile in Yogyakarta there is carcass weighing before chopping. In general, the implementation of the process of preparing Eid al-Adha animal meat in Manokwari Regency, Yogyakarta and Magelang City has endeavored to meet the hygiene and sanitation aspects as an effort to obtain halal and thoyib (good) Eid al-Adha meat. Abstract

This study was conducted from August to October 2006, a disease caused by worms digestive tract is one of the causes of the decline in beef production . The purpose of this study was to assess the number of infected cattle nematode, the nematode types and amount of each type of nematodes in Bali cattle in Manokwari. Based onobservations on the worm eggs, total of 23 individuals (44.23 %) of Bali cattle ( puppies and adults ) infected with nematodes. Most of the infected cow is a cow that as many as 16 puppies cattle (69.56 %), while the remaining 7 animals (30.44 %) is the mother cow. Types of nematodes that infect cattle puppies and adult cattle are Cooperiasp., Bunostomum sp., Mecistocirrus sp. and Trichuris sp. The frequency of attacks in a row is as much as 13 cattle Cooperia sp, Mecistocirrus sp as many as 10 head of cattle, as many as 8 sp bunostomum cows and Trichuris sp. as much as 5 cows. The highest number of eggs in a row is Bunostomum sp. (1520), Cooperia sp. (1280), Mecistocirrus sp. ( 1200) and Trichuris sp. (280). The average number of eggs per gr feces ( EPG ) of 4 species of parasites that infect a row is Bunostomum sp . (190 EPG), Mecistocirrus sp. (120 EPG) Cooperia sp. (98.46 EPG)and Trichuris sp. (56 EPG). As many as 44.23 % of Bali cattle in three districts (Masni, Oransbari dan Prafi) attacked nematodes which are predominantly cattle aged less than one year .

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the secure level of the n-hexane extract of kebar grass on hypercholesterolemia rats based the acute oral toxicity test. Based the literature, no report on the toxic dosage before, initial dose was started at 300 mg/kg body weight (BW) and to be increased 2000 to 5000 mg/kg BW. Toxicity data were set for 24 hours and continued until 14 days after treatment for several parameters, i.e : toxicity symptoms, death of animals, changes in body weight and the manifestation of toxicity effects. At the end of the test, the rats were sacrificed and organs were taken for abnormalities (macroscopy). The results of this study showed that the administration of the n-hexane extract of grass kebar at all doses did not show the toxicity symptoms, mortality and body weight change. The absolute and relative weights and gross pathology observation of the internal organ were normal. Conclusions: the n-hexane extract of grass kebar is safe and the LD was determined on category 5, 50 unclassified or minimum practically non toxic
