Abstract

Maintenance of railways is done periodically by the railway maintenance unit. The work activities executed in uncertain weather and with the use of relatively heavy equipments are done in a quick manner. Therefore, work posture examination is required using Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and Nordic Body Map (NBM) methods. This study aimed to find out the work posture of the workers in the railway maintenance unit of Resort IV.6 Ketapang, North Lampung. The study was qualitative in nature using a case study approach. The data were collected through interviews and observation using Nordic Body Map (NBM) forms. Data collection from informants was conducted using purposive sampling with 1 key informant and 4 triangular informants, with the characteristics of already working for more than 3 years and also being the workers in the railway raising projects. The results of the study showed that, based on REBA calculation, the score obtained upon the observation of the informants’ working posture was 10, which was categorized as high. As such, immediate identification is required regarding the informants’ working posture. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that working postures of the workers in the railway maintenance unit have effects on the pain in the muscle parts of the workers. Therefore, Improvement on working postures should be made immediately. In addition, during their work using working equipments, they should do short stretching to reduce the pain complained.

Abstract

It is known that MSDs have become a health problem for workers in developing and developed countries over the past few years. Musculoskeletal disease is the second leading cause of disability in the world, with low back pain being the leading cause of disability. If referring to this explanation, the activities of MSME workers, balloon bouquets that can potentially cause musculoskeletal complaints, one of which is the activity of pumping balloons manually and stringing balloons with awkward postures and carrying out work with a sitting work posture which causes musculoskeletal problems, especially shoulder & waist problems because there is pressure on the spine. The type of research used by the author in this study is the qualitative method. Qualitative research researchers become the main instrument in collecting data that can be directly related to the instrument or object of research. Data collection method using Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) observation sheet and Nordic Body Map (NBM) checklist sheet as well as interview guidelines. Workers often experience complaints of aches or pains both while working, and after doing work on the right shoulder, left shoulder, back, upper arm, forearm, and waist. The posture of workers when making a bouquet of balloons either when pumping, forming, or assembling balloons on average has a high risk level for complaints of musculoskeletal disorders because workers carry out work with a sitting, bending, squatting, and half-sitting work attitude, there are repetitive movements.

Abstract

Background: A hospital is a health service facility that provides outpatient and inpatient patient services. Hospitals can also be a source of infection for officers, patients, and other visitors. To prevent nosocomial infections in officers, hospitals must protect all health workers, for example, by wearing gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, and aprons. Compliance with PPE on health workers is supported by a positive attitude from officers and supervision carried out by management. This study aims to determine factors related to compliance with use among nurses. Method: This was quantitative research using correlation with the cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was 130 permanent nurses. The sample was calculated using the Slovin formula, resulting in 100 samples. The respondent was selected via proportional random sampling among the care units. Chi–Square was used to analyze the data. Results: There was a relationship between PPE compliance and age (p=0.005), attitude (p=0.000), and supervision (p=0.016). Meanwhile, factors that were not related to PPE compliance were gender (p=1.000), education (p=0.054), knowledge (p=0.170), facilities (p=0.505), and training (p=0.811). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between age, attitude supervision, and compliance with PPE in nurses when performing their duties.

Abstract

The construction sector is one of the work sectors with a high level of risk of danger. The activities carried out by construction workers can cause errors and work accidents which are influenced by fatigue. This research aims to understand the factors related to work fatigue in construction workers in the Drinking Water Management System Project. The research method used was an explanatory study with a cross-sectional design, with a total sample of 30 people taken using a total sampling technique. Primary data was collected by distributing standard questionnaires, namely the Subjective Self Rating Test and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) 42. Data were analyzed univariately using the frequency distribution test, bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test, and data were visualized using the Tableau Public 2022 application. From the results, the research found that age (p=0.104), education (p=0.419), and length of work (p=0.063) were not related to work fatigue, while nutritional status (p=0.042) and work stress (p=0.028) were related to the incidence of work fatigue. The research conclusion is that nutritional status and work stress are related to work fatigue in construction workers in the Drinking Water Management System Project. Suggestions to project organizers, it is necessary to carry out effective stress management and coping for workers to reduce work fatigue and maintain workers' nutritional status by providing food according to workers' calorie needs.
