Abstract

Islamic banking has witnessed significant growth globally, including in Indonesia, with expansions in both fund mobilization and financing activities. This study analyzes the determinants of risk in Indonesian Islamic banks from 2009 to 2022, focusing on the effects of financing-to-deposit ratio (FDR), financing growth, efficiency, company size, capital adequacy ratio (CAR), and third-party fund (DPK), on non-performing financing (NPF). Utilizing unbalanced panel data and multiple linear regression, the research finds that financing growth and efficiency have negligible effects on risk. In contrast, FDR, company size, CAR, and DPK significantly influence it. Higher FDR is linked to increased risk, while larger banks and higher CAR are associated with reduced risk. The results suggest that Islamic banks should balance financing and deposits to manage risk effectively and emphasize the importance of efficient operations and sustainable growth. This research is limited to the internal aspects of banks as determinants of FDR. Future research could examine external factors and alternative risk measures to deepen the understanding of risk in Islamic banking.==============================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Determinan Risiko Perbankan Syariah di Indonesia: Suatu Kajian Empiris.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics between transformational leadership, workload, and employee performance within the Malang City Office of Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade. Recognizing that performance gaps in the public sector often stem from imbalanced workloads and leadership approaches, this research specifically examines how work motivation acts as a vital bridge in these relationships Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS), the study analyzed data from 121 civil servants. The findings reveal that transformational leadership and managed workloads are powerful drivers of motivation. Furthermore, the results indicate that leadership, workload, and motivation each have a direct, positive impact on overall performance. Notably, work motivation serves as a key mediator; it is the psychological engine that transforms organizational inputs and leadership guidance into tangible results. The evidence suggests that achieving peak performance requires more than just administrative adjustments. It demands a holistic strategy that balances optimized task distribution with inspiring leadership to foster a motivated workforce. These insights provide a roadmap for public sector organizations to improve productivity through competency-based management and a deeper focus on employee well-being.

Abstract

Employee performance in public sector organizations is often shaped not only by individual capability but also by social and collaborative workplace dynamics. However, previous studies have reported inconsistent findings regarding the effects of intrinsic motivation, resilience, and teamwork on employee performance, particularly within field-based public service settings. This study aims to examine the influence of intrinsic motivation, resilience, and teamwork on employee performance, with co-worker support serving as a mediating variable among employees of the Green Open Space Division at the Malang City Environmental Service. This study employed a quantitative explanatory approach using purposive sampling. Data were collected from 126 employees and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that resilience and teamwork positively and significantly affect employee performance, while intrinsic motivation has no direct effect. Co-worker support significantly enhances employee performance and partially mediates the relationships between resilience, teamwork, and employee performance. In contrast, the mediating role of co-worker support in the relationship between intrinsic motivation and employee performance was not supported. The study contributes to public sector human resource management literature by emphasizing the importance of social work factors, particularly teamwork and co-worker support, in strengthening employee performance within operational public service environments.
