Abstract

ABSTRACT The September 28th,2018 Central Sulawesi earthquake collapsed various buildings in Palu. One of the buildings that collapsed due to the earthquake was the structure of the Universitas Terbuka building Palu. Based on a survey to the building site, it can be seen that the collapse occurred in the dominance of melting in the column sections so that the structure was unable to stand upright. Therefore, to find out the main cause of the collapse of the Universitas Terbuka Palu building, it is necessary to analyze the seismic response of the structure. The method used is Spectra Response. Analysis of the calculation of deformation, storey drift and base shear is carried out to determine the stability and the main cause of the collapse of the building. The results showed that the Seismic Response of the Universitas Terbuka Palu building structure was not suitable for earthquake loads with the earthquake zoning of the Palu area determined based on SNI 03-1726-2012. The analysis shows that the deformation that occurs is greater than the allowable deformation and the field conditions indicate that the column is experiencing melting so that it collapses earlier than the beam. Abstract

The strong column-weak beam is a design concept that needs to be implemented and considered in the planning of building structures (high-rise and low-rise buildings). Generally, structural failure occurs at beam-column joints. Such failure occurred due to the lack of attention to good and correct design concepts. The detailing of reinforcement for columns, beams, and beam-column connections has not yet fully implemented the SNI-2847-2019 standard which results in the reinforcement cannot withstand the combination of tensile, compressive, and shear forces that occur during an earthquake. In addition, the incomplete design of strong column-weak beam in building planning causes the building to fail in the column structure when receiving axial forces. The purpose of this study was to analyze the structural damage and the disaster management system applied during the earthquake in Palu. The research is carried out by investigation/survey methods on the study area as well as checking and recording the data about damage condition of buildings and conducting a hammer test (non-destructive test) to get the strength value of the concrete. Testing result showed the compressive strength value of the f’c concrete used is 20 to 48 MPa. In addition, the details of stirrups reinforcement are also not fully understood about their function on beams and columns, which results in the installation of stirrup reinforcement does not meet the criteria for bending angles of 90˚, 135˚, 180˚ and the addition of tensile and compressive reinforcement lengths. The high potential for earthquake hazard causes Palu and its surroundings tend to have an earthquake risk. For this reason, it is necessary to implement disaster mitigation for Palu region, which aims to reduce the number of casualties when natural disasters occur, both human and property loses.

Abstract

This research is a study that discusses the comparison of the results of the analysis of the calculation of the forces on the wooden framework using the Structure Analysis Program-2000 (SAP-2000) and method of joint. The value of each force of vertical bars, horizontal bars, tensile bars, and compression members at each point of the wooden framework will be calculated on three wooden framework spans with spans of 7m, 9m, and 11m. Comparison of the results of the calculation of the value of the rod force from the two methods will be compared to see the efficiency of the calculation analysis of the two methods. From the results of the calculation of the method of joint and the Analysis of Structure Analysis Program-2000 (SAP-2000) in calculating and analyzing the value of each vertical bar force, horizontal bar, tension member, and compression member, the difference between each rod force is at (0- 0.51) kg. This shows that the calculation analysis using the Structure Analysis Program-2000 (SAP-2000) is faster and more efficient in calculating each bar force.

Abstract

The Meru, a multi-tiered Balinese pagoda in Bali, Indonesia, is investigated for its earthquake-resistant properties in this study. Despite the fact that its upper tier is made of timber frames and panels, and its lower tier is made of masonry walls, the Meru has not suffered significant earthquake damage since its construction in 1968. This paper investigates the Meru's architectural form, structural system, building materials, and dynamic responses to seismic activity. The study focuses on an eleven-tier Meru in the Ulun Danu Batur Temple Kintamani Region, Bali Province, and investigates earthquake resistance using a 2-D Finite Element model and Nonlinear time history dynamic analysis method. The results show that the Meru can withstand the maximum credible earthquake for 2500 years, and the Meru's natural periods and modes have been determined. This study is a preliminary investigation into predicting and monitoring the Meru structure's behavior during earthquakes. To further validate the analysis model, future research could include experimental analysis of both individual components and the overall structure.

Abstract

Indonesia has the latest seismic standard, namely SNI 03-1726-2012 which replaces the previous seismic standard, namely SNI 03-1726-2012. This study aims to compare the calculation and analysis of the result of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) apartment in Pondok Cina, Depok based on SNI 03-1726-2012 and SNI 03-1726-2019 and find out what parameters make a significant difference between SNI 03-1726-2012 and SNI 03-1726-2012. SNI 03-1726-2019. From the comparison results, there was an increase in the parameter values of SS and S1 in SNI 03-1726-2019, resulting in the influence of the parameter values of SDS and SD1 which became the reference for calculating the acceleration value of the response spectra in SNI 03-1726-2019. The value of the basic static shear force in the X and Y directions in SNI 03-1726-2019 increased by 18% from the value of the basic static shear force in SNI 03-1726-2012 and the value of the dynamic basic shear force in the X and Y directions in SNI 03-1726- 2019 experienced an increase of 15% from the value of the dynamic base shear force in SNI 03-1726-2012. The basic shear force increases because the acceleration spectral design response has a high increase in 03-1726-2019 compared to SNI 03-1726-2012. Based on the control of the performance level of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) apartment building, Pondok Cina Depok, is included in the Immediate Occupancy, meaning that when an earthquake occurs, the building does not suffer heavy damage, can still be used and the risk of casualties is very small. Performance-based planning can provide information on how the building behaves during an earthquake and the extent to which the earthquake will affect the structure.

Abstract

Indonesia is geographically located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Especially on Java Island, which has the densest infrastructure and population and is located between the Indo-Australian plate and the Eurasian plate, causing this area to have many active volcanoes and has a high potential for earthquakes. Therefore, it is necessary to pay the planned earthquake load in planning the building structure design to minimize losses due to the earthquake. This study aims to determine the structure's performance against safeguards, deviations between levels, and structural stability limits against earthquake loads and to review horizontal structural irregularities based on SNI 1726: 2019 regulations in existing buildings at the Simpang Temu MRT Dukuh Atas Jakarta Building. The analysis process was carried out by 3D building modeling using the ETABS software program, analysis based on time history and spectrum response. Time History analysis uses recorded earthquakes of Kobe Japan, ChiChi Taiwan, and El Centro which match the earthquake response spectrum, the results of the analysis based on the program were carried out to compare the two methods used. Based on the results of the analysis, the building is classified into horizontal irregularities with excessive torque ratio > 1.4, average displacement value from the 2nd to 12th floor in the horizontal direction X exceeds the drift value limit. The results of the instability limit for structural stability against displacement based on the P-Delta effect still meet the structural stability limits so it can be stated that the structure is stable and safe.

Abstract

Abstract The concept of waste reduction (reduce), recycling or reusing (reuse/recycle), and safe disposal (dispose) is highly crucial in mitigating waste pollution today. The Community Service activity carried out at SMP Advent Tompaso through socialization and a creative waste recycling competition themed "Reduce Wasted and Save The Earth" underscores the importance of these principles. The enthusiasm of the students to learn about waste recycling methods in their environment, which can hold significant economic and market value, is evident. Furthermore, the participation of each class, sending their teams to compete in every contest, demonstrates their active involvement. From the two contests, namely the fashion show and waste recycling craft competition, it is apparent that each student possesses high levels of creativity. Plastic and paper waste transformed into clothing showcased in the fashion show highlight the variety of designs created. Meanwhile, the crafting of plastic waste into flower-shaped handicrafts demonstrates both economic and market value. Through the dissemination of information and the competitions, the hope is that students will not only become more environmentally conscious but also actively contribute to mitigating the impacts of global warming. They are encouraged not to dispose of waste recklessly but instead to start sorting waste in their surroundings, thus contributing to the preservation of the world and their immediate environment.
