Abstract

The earthquake that occurred in the Cianjur area, West Java on Monday 21 November 2022 at 13.21 WIB resulted in 635 fatalities and 56,000 houses that were damaged. The results of the assessment found that many houses and public facility buildings still did not meet the requirements for earthquake-resistant buildings, especially in the use of concrete materials, main reinforcement, stirrups in columns, beams, foundations and beam-column joint, and did not have a strong column-weak beam planning concept. This can be seen from the inability of the column to withstand/ carry the working load which causes the column to collapse and damage. Therefore, it is very necessary to pay attention to building planning in Disaster Prone Areas (DPA) in accordance with earthquake resistant building regulations SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 2847:2019

Abstract

Beams are crucial components of a building structure that require attention during the design phase. Several failures in beams occur due to inadequate installation of reinforcement according to the planned procedures or designs, which can lead to structural failures. Based on the analysis and testing of three reinforced concrete beams B1, B2, and B3 conducted in the laboratory, the maximum axial compressive strength obtained is 125 kN and the flexural tensile strength is 5.56 MPa. The deflection values observed for beam B1 7.05 mm, beam B2 8.4 mm, and beam B3 18.75 mm. The crack widths observed for beam B1 range from 0.1 to 0.4 cm, beam B2 range from 0.1 to 5 cm, and beam B3 range from 0.1 to 12 cm. Deflection values and crack patterns/failure modes observed in reinforced concrete beams B1, B2, and B3, it is evident that the most significant failure patterns occur in Beam B3 with a stirrup spacing @200mm compared to stirrup spacings @100mm and @150 mm. The use of 45° hooks on stirrups results in diagonal failure in beams. This is attributed to the strong bond between the concrete and the installed reinforcement, thereby interlocking with each other.

Abstract

A reinforcement concrete beam behavior is substantial to design structure. Some failures can found in the beam because the beam reinforcement structure does not install like procedure design, this problem made failure for the structure. Knowing the behavior of the beam structure resulting from the load is necessary, as it can help to predict the strength of the structural beam and comfort of the structure being worked on. To find out and predict the strength and comfort of the structure reinforced concrete beam as a result of the load received is the experimental test and simulation. The simulation VecTor2 was used to predict the shear force, crack, and displacement of the reinforced concrete beam when applied to the displacement load. This simulation considered the effect of the bond stress-slip effects of behavior reinforced concrete. Bonds stress-slip (0.139) gives a substantial influence on the strength and hysteretic response of the reinforced concrete beam. That is why this study considers the effect of the bond stress-slip on reinforced concrete. The results of the experiment test and simulations performed, the ratio of load capacity ranges from 1.00-1.095, and the crack pattern forms an angle of 45. All the results of simulation VecTor2 using the bond stress-slip effect would be compared with the result of the experimental test to see the behavior and accuracy of the simulation test.

Abstract

Buildings or structures in Indonesia are highly vulnerable to earthquakes, especially in seismic zone 5. Podium-type buildings consist of two main parts: the podium and the tower. This type of building is used due to its advantages of better stability, resulting from a wider base, efficient land use, and good seismic performance. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the structural behavior of three types of buildings: non-podium structures, centrically supported podium towers, and eccentrically supported podium towers. The analysis is conducted using the response spectrum analysis method to examine various structural behaviors, including comparisons of base shear forces, inter-story drift, and the P-Delta effect. The analysis results show that the base shear force of the non-podium structure is 18,463.26 kN, which is higher than that of the centrically supported podium tower at 10,661 kN and the eccentrically supported podium tower at 10,661 kN. In terms of inter-story drift in the x-direction, the eccentrically supported podium tower (model 3) has a displacement of 64.405 mm, exceeding the permissible limit of 61.538 mm. Meanwhile, the non-podium structure (model 1) has a displacement of 60.658 mm, and the centrically supported podium tower (model 2) has 56.408 mm, both meeting the permissible drift limits. For the maximum P-Delta values, Model 1 is 0.0964, Model 2 is 0.05844, and Model 3 is 0.0722, all of which comply with the P-Delta effect limits. The findings of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the differences in structural performance between non-podium structures, centrically supported podium towers, and eccentrically supported podium towers, which can be used as a reference for designers in selecting a structurally safe system by increasing stability against lateral loads.

Abstract

This study focuses on strengthening scheme of an existing structure with added story. The addition of a new story increases gravitational loading, which affects the seismic and wind responses of the structure and, as a consequence, the loading combination. To ensure the structure’s capacity requirement, the strengthening scheme uses CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer). In order to adequately define the structure's performance, a series of structural analyses were performed. The structure's state before and after story addition, subsequently the state after CFRP strengthening, were evaluated. It is demonstrated that the additional story to the structure causes an exceedance in internal forces; however, the strengthening with CFRP is sufficient to withstand these forces, proving that the strengthening scheme is effective and beneficial.

Abstract

Indonesia has the latest seismic standard, namely SNI 03-1726-2012 which replaces the previous seismic standard, namely SNI 03-1726-2012. This study aims to compare the calculation and analysis of the result of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) apartment in Pondok Cina, Depok based on SNI 03-1726-2012 and SNI 03-1726-2019 and find out what parameters make a significant difference between SNI 03-1726-2012 and SNI 03-1726-2012. SNI 03-1726-2019. From the comparison results, there was an increase in the parameter values of SS and S1 in SNI 03-1726-2019, resulting in the influence of the parameter values of SDS and SD1 which became the reference for calculating the acceleration value of the response spectra in SNI 03-1726-2019. The value of the basic static shear force in the X and Y directions in SNI 03-1726-2019 increased by 18% from the value of the basic static shear force in SNI 03-1726-2012 and the value of the dynamic basic shear force in the X and Y directions in SNI 03-1726- 2019 experienced an increase of 15% from the value of the dynamic base shear force in SNI 03-1726-2012. The basic shear force increases because the acceleration spectral design response has a high increase in 03-1726-2019 compared to SNI 03-1726-2012. Based on the control of the performance level of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) apartment building, Pondok Cina Depok, is included in the Immediate Occupancy, meaning that when an earthquake occurs, the building does not suffer heavy damage, can still be used and the risk of casualties is very small. Performance-based planning can provide information on how the building behaves during an earthquake and the extent to which the earthquake will affect the structure.

Abstract

The development of the construction industry in Indonesia has accelerated urbanization and population growth, demanding the implementation of efficient construction methods, particularly in the development of high-rise buildings that optimize both cost and project duration. In reinforced concrete construction, formwork plays a significant role in determining the overall cost and time of the construction project. Therefore, this study analysis the comparison of cost and time for formwork work on columns, beams, and slabs in the BSI Tower project. Conventional formwork, typically made of wood, is still widely used due to its relatively low initial cost and flexibility. However, this method has several drawbacks, including material waste, low durability, high labour intensity, long processing time, inconsistent concrete surface quality, and a short service life, which lead to higher maintenance and replacement costs. In contrast, aluminum formwork is lightweight, precise, and reusable. This research employs a quantitative approach and utilizes Microsoft Project software. Cost analysis is conducted by multiplying the work volume by unit prices obtained from the 2024 Jakarta Standard Unit Price Analysis (AHSP) and project documentation, while time analysis is developed through Microsoft Project to estimate the duration of formwork installation and removal from floors 14 to 22. The results indicate that aluminum formwork is more efficient than conventional formwork in terms of both cost and time. The total cost of the aluminum formwork system was IDR 6,262,395,602, while the total cost of the conventional formwork system was IDR 6,509,110,236. This indicates that the aluminum formwork system is more economical, with a cost reduction of IDR 246,714,634, equivalent to approximately 3.79% compared to the conventional formwork system. Regarding time, aluminum formwork requires 63 days to complete, whereas conventional formwork takes 108 days, resulting in a time saving of 45 days. This research provides a data-driven framework to assist contractors in optimizing project scheduling and cost budgeting when transitioning from conventional formwork to aluminum formwork systems.
