Abstract

Misconceptions in fractions, a significant challenge in mathematics education, occur when students' conceptions do not align with scientific conceptions, yet they firmly believe in the correctness of their conceptions. These deeply rooted misconceptions are difficult to eliminate and not easily identified with conventional instruments. Therefore, this study aims to develop a valid and reliable five-tier diagnostic test instrument to identify students' misconceptions about fractions effectively. The design of this development research involves qualitative and quantitative methods using the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). Sixty-eight seventh-grade students were involved in quantitative instrument quality testing; data were analyzed using SPSS. The final result of the development of this instrument was 12 questions declared valid and reliable. Furthermore, the instrument was applied to 30 seventh-grade students in different schools to identify their misconceptions about fractions. Based on the analysis of the combination of students' answers, it was obtained that 36.4% of students understood the concept, 8.9% were in the false positive category, 7.2% were false negative, 9.7% lacked knowledge, and 37.8% had misconceptions. It was found that the most dominant description of misconceptions (33%), namely, students assume that the smaller the denominator of a fraction, the smaller the value of the fraction. Then, it was also found that students' thinking, in general, causes misconceptions to occur. The practical implication of the results of this study is that teachers can use the instrument and identify misconceptions to develop more effective teaching methods, thereby improving mathematics education by helping students avoid and anticipate misconceptions.

Abstract

Maternal and infant mortality rates in Indonesia remain a health issue that requires serious attention, especially in regions with limited healthcare facilities. Midwives' professionalism is essential in addressing this issue, as midwives are the primary providers of reproductive midwifery services. This study aims to identify the relationship between midwives' professionalism and patient satisfaction at PMB Nurhasanah, Bandar Lampung. The study employs a descriptive correlational design with a quantitative approach, involving 114 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument is a questionnaire that assesses midwives' professionalism through aspects of competence, ethics, communication, and empathy and measures patient satisfaction levels. The results show that most respondents (51%) rated midwives' professionalism as high, while 78% expressed their satisfaction at a moderate level. Pearson correlation analysis indicates a significant relationship between midwives' professionalism and patient satisfaction (p-value = 0.017), suggesting that improving midwives' professionalism positively correlates with increased patient satisfaction. These findings align with previous research, highlighting that midwives' professionalism, especially in communication and responsiveness, dramatically affects the quality of maternal and child healthcare services. Based on these results, this study recommends continuous training focused on developing ethics and communication skills for midwives. Furthermore, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of patient satisfaction factors. It encourages policies to strengthen midwives' professionalism to improve the quality of midwifery services locally.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance science process skills (SPS) through contextual teaching and learning (CTL). This research method used the Quasi-Experiment None- equivalent Pretest-Posttest Design Group. This research was conducted at SDN 002 Ujung Batu with a sample of 54 students. The results obtained that the science process skills of students who learn with the CTL model are better and have more significant improvement than those who learn with conventional models. The experiment group obtained a posttest score with an average of 90.71, while the control group obtained an average of 51.42. N-gain of students' SPS in the experiment group is 0.56 (medium category) higher than the control group that is 0.24 (low category). These indicate that the CTL model can enhance the SPS of fifth-grade elementary school students in the saving-water and natural events concept.

Abstract

Aceh Province, which is a Special Autonomous Region based on Islamic Sharia, based on 2021 data shows that the implementation of the Teaching Factory has not yet occurred completely in all vocational schools in Aceh. This is a strong indication that the main factor has not yet seen the outcomes expected by the community. Seeing the gap in the quality of Teaching Factory implementation among vocational schools in Aceh, it is necessary to conduct a study regarding the integration of Islamic education through the Teaching Factory model as an effort to develop learning attitude and work ethic of students in vocational schools in Aceh. The research design used is a sequential explanatory design or combination model research. The total sample for quantitative data was 228 respondents using the Structural equation Modeling analysis method. Meanwhile, for qualitative data, the sample size was 509 respondents. Quantitative data analysis uses the Structural equation Modeling analysis method, while qualitative data describes the results descriptively by linking them to existing facts and supporting theories from the results of data integration from the implementation of the Teaching Factory and Islamic Education. The research results show that teaching and learning activities in vocational schools are not just coincidental or incidental, but are part of a planned effort to integrate Islamic education into the learning system and daily life through Teaching Factory learning. This integration has a positive and holistic impact on students' personalities, skills, attitude, and values, with a focus on success in the world of business run according to Islamic principles.

Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the diseases caused by symptoms of intestinal tract infections due to various microorganisms. Goosegrass (Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn) is a wild weed that has long been used as a traditional medicine, attributed to its phytochemical compounds such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids. This study aims to evaluate the antidiarrheal effects of Eleusine indica extract by comparing six treatment groups: a healthy group, a negative control group (Na-CMC), a positive control group (Loperamide 2 mg), and three variations of the extract dosage. Observations were made over 360 minutes at 30-minute intervals, using a fecal consistency scale from 1 (solid) to 5 (liquid). LC-MS/QToF analysis identified 25 secondary metabolites in the extract, including flavonoids (Schaftoside, Orientin, Vitexin, Tricin), phenolic compounds, and terpenoids. In vivo testing showed that the third dose of Eleusine indica grass extract had the most optimal antidiarrheal effect among the three doses, as evidenced by its ability to reduce diarrhea frequency, decrease fecal weight, shorten diarrhea duration, and improve fecal consistency, approaching the effectiveness of Loperamide 2 mg as a positive control. These findings suggest the potential of Eleusine indica extract as a promising natural antidiarrheal agent.

Abstract

Access to justice is often hindered by financial constraints, preventing plaintiffs from pursuing legal claims. Third-Party Litigation Funding (TPLF) offers a potential solution by allowing external funders to finance litigation in exchange for a share of any awarded damages or settlement. By covering litigation costs, TPLF enables financially disadvantaged plaintiffs to seek legal redress, making it a crucial mechanism for expanding access to justice. However, unregulated TPLF poses risks, including the encouragement of frivolous claims, ethical concerns, and profit-driven motivations that may override legal merit. Indonesia currently lacks specific regulations governing TPLF, raising questions about its legal permissibility and practical implementation. This study examines TPLF frameworks in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States to derive insights that may inform the development of TPLF practices in Indonesia. Utilizing a normative legal research methodology based on secondary data, the study explores the opportunities and challenges of introducing TPLF into the Indonesian legal system. The findings indicate that while TPLF can be legally accepted in Indonesia, its application should be restricted to cases with broad public interest, such as environmental and consumer litigation. Furthermore, Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to enhance access to justice and the absence of explicit legal prohibitions present opportunities for the regulated adoption of TPLF. This research contributes to the discourse on litigation funding by providing recommendations for policymakers, legal practitioners, and stakeholders in shaping a fair and regulated TPLF framework in Indonesia.

Abstract

As Indonesia explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its arbitration processes, it faces a complex landscape of challenges and opportunities. This study investigates how AI can enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-making in arbitration, while also addressing significant legal and political concerns. From a legal perspective, the use of AI in arbitration raises issues of compatibility with existing laws, the need for ethical guidelines, and the protection of data privacy. Politically, the adoption of AI is influenced by the potential for shifting power dynamics, regulatory concerns, and the broader implications for national sovereignty and international relations. Through a detailed analysis of these factors, the study aims to provide insights into how Indonesia can effectively navigate the integration of AI in arbitration, balancing technological advancements with legal and political considerations. By offering recommendations for addressing these challenges, the research seeks to contribute to the development of a robust framework for AI-driven arbitration in Indonesia. This research finds that the legal political landscape influences how AI is regulated, with potential resistance from established legal institutions or political entities concerned about losing control or influence. From a legal perspective, AI systems can minimize biases or inaccuracies and potentially improve the impartiality and fairness of arbitration decisions. Current regulations may not fully address the unique challenges posed by AI, necessitating updates or new legislation to govern AI use in arbitration. It is therefore important to engage with political and legal stakeholders to address concerns and build consensus on the adoption of AI in arbitration.

Abstract

As assets that encourage tax revenue growth in the country, taxpayers have different views on will, desire, and freedom factors, which affect their daily behavior. Taxpayers are given a policy of implementing a self-assessment system as a form of independent implementation of tax obligations, but do not deviate from tax legislation. This research contributes to compliance by taxpayers registered with KPP Pratama Palu in central Sulawesi. The predictive factors are the views on tax corruption and tax avoidance after sampling by using 44 samples obtained by the Slovin formula and using multiple regression analysis. The results show that all exogenous variables partially and simultaneously improve taxpayer compliance. This shows that all factors affecting the tax compliance variables registered with the Palu Primary Taxation Bureau have their role.
