Abstract

The research was conducted in a survey of farmers on the pig farm business in the Kebek and Penginyahanvillage, Payangan-Gianyar. Purposive random sampling of 20 farmers in each location and explorative approachwas conducted to describe the production and reproduction management applied. Data were analyzed descriptivelyand to study production and reproduction management between the two sites was Two Independent Sample TTest. The results showed the average productivity of pigs in Kebek and Penginyahan that is litter size: 9,50±1,65 vs10,86±1,68 tail, annual litter size : 2,10±0,32 vs 2,29±0,49 times, weaning age: 29,00±2,11 vs 29,00±1,91 day, andthe three variables were not significantly different (P>0,05). The average number of piglet weaned in Kebek andPenginyahan was 7.90±1,45 vs 9,43±1,99 head, weaning weight of piglet 7,20±1,69 vs 5,29±0.57 kg (P <0.05). Thedry period and the age of culled of sow in Kebek is significantly higher than in Penginyahan (P<0.05). Whereas infattening management, early age to fatten and length of maintenance is not different between the two locations(P>0,05), whereas the live and slaughtering weight in Kebek are significantly higher than those in Penginyahan thatis 14.00±1,15 vs. 12.20±1,79 kg and 126,50±11,80 vs. 114±10,84 kg (P<0,05).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences of carcass characteristics of the two different breeds, such as balipig and landrace pig. These domesticated animals used as raw material for suckling pig. A complete randomizeddesign (CRD) was used with two different pigs, bali pig with traditional maintenance management and landrace pigwith intensive maintenance management. Both species were used as samples between 2-3 months. They are testedusing T Test (Two Independent Tests). The research was conducted at traditional slaughter housing for the needsof suckling pig. It showed that 16.17 kg weight of bali pig used for suckling pig which is significantly lower (P<0.05)than 35.06 kg of landrace pigs. The carcass weight of bali pig is 10.77 kg significantly lower (P<0.05) than 25.65 kgof landrace pig. The percentage of bali pig carcass is 66.98% significantly lower (P<0.05) than 73.12% landrace pigs.The value of fleshing index of bali pig carcass is 0.22 significantly lower (P<0.05) than 0.38 landrace pigs. Back fatthickness of bali pigs is 11.2 mm significantly higher (P<0.05) than 8.1 mm landrace pigs. It can be concluded thatthe quality of bali pig carcass is lower better compared to landrace pig carcass.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama penyimpanan terhadap kualitas telur ayam kampungdan ayam Lohman Brown. Rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial dengan 2 faktor perlakuan yaitu telur ayamkampung dan ayam Lohmnan Browm dengan 4 faktor lama penyimpanan 0, 7, 14, 21 hari pada suhu ruang dan 3kali ulangan dan setiap ulangan terdiri dari 10 butir telur digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasi penelitian berupatelur dengan kualitas yang baik dengan lama penyimpanan yang optimal dengan menguji eksterior telur dan interiortelur seperti indeks telur, warna kuning telur, pH, Haugh Unit telur serta kandungan atau populasi mikroba yangtumbuh selama penyimpanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05) pada eksterioryaitu pada kebersihan dan tekstur permukaan telur, dan pada interior juga berbeda nyata secara statistik pada HUtelur, sedangkan perlakuan yang lainya tidak berbeda (P>0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan penyimpanan0, 7, 14, 21 hari pada telur ayam kampung dan telur ayam Lohman Brown secara eksterior dan interior mengalamipenurunan kualitas namun masih layak dikonsumsi hingga lama penyimpanan 21 hari dalam suhu ruang serta masihmenunjukkan nilai grade A dan cemaran mikroba masih dibawah Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI).Kata kunci: ayam Lohman Brown, Haugh Unit, kualitas telur, penyimpanan, telur ayam kampong

Abstract

The Bali cattles that grazing at Denpasar city waste disposal need to examined for their healthy to keep the quality of beef production. The aim of this research to determine the hematologic profile of Bali cattle was grazing at waste disposel in Denpasar. The data obtained is expected to provide an initial ekspretion of the general health-related to productivity. Studies using nine female of Bali cattle weighing 250-300 kg, aged 2-3 years. Research using quantitative methods by means of surveys and research laboratory. The research variables are Total White blood cells (WBC), lymphocytes, monocytes, basophils, and Total Red blood cell (RBC), haemoglobin (Hb), mean corpuscular volume (MCV). The result showed that the total of RBC, Hb, and MCV were still within the normal range. The other result were the average WBC: 4.8%, lymphocytes: 25.3%, Monocytes: 2.8%, and Basophils: 0.8% higher if compared to the same variable in cows were well maintained. It can be concluded that the Bali cattle grazing in the area of the landfill affected pathophysiological change in its body.

Abstract

Bali cattle are known for having high adaptability to any environmental condition and have proven tosurvive in critical environments including landfills. The aim of this study was to determine the relationshipbetween Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase /Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGPT/SGOT) levels and lead (Pb) level in blood of bali cattle reared in the landfill Denpasar. A total of 22Balicattle were used in this study was. The blood was drawn from the jugular vein and 10 ml blood werecollected using tubes containing EDTA 0.5% and 10 mL without EDTA tubes. Levels of SGPT and SGOTwere measured by using Auto analyzer (Refloton (R) plus) method, while the measurement of Pb in bloodplasma was conducted by using atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Result of the SGPTand SGOT measurement obtained were relatively varied with an average of SGPT = 29.96±5.67 U/L andSGOT = 78.82±17.62.U/L. Similarly, Pb measurement results vary widely between 4.004 to 10.216 withan average of 6.595±1.85 ppm. Correlation analysis showed that there was an association between SGOTwith Pb levels. However, no correlation was observed between the SGPT with Pblevels. These resultsindicate that the levels of lead may cause pathological tissue cells in organs other than liver. Its concludedthat heavy metalPb is found in the blood of bali cattle reared in Denpasar city landfill, and it may becorrelated with the level of the SGOT and may cause pathological tissue cells organs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the content of heavy metals in bali cattle grazing extensively in the landfill area and semi-intensive outside TPA. The research was conducted in slaughter house traditional as well in Analytical Laboratory Udayana University for two months. The experiment was conducted using a test T-test which two samples were repeated six times. The results showed that the amount content of plumbum, cadmium and cuprum on beef from the landfill quantitatively greater than the beef that comes from outside the landfill 1.559 mg / kg: 1.458 mg / kg, 1.363 mg / kg: 1.358 mg / kg and 1,515 mg / kg: 1.408 mg / kg but in statistics results was not significant (P> 0.05). Based on the results of the study concluded that the system of raising animals do not affect the content of heavy metals in bali cattle, meat from the landfill quantitatively higher than outside the landfill and still be below the threshold recommended by BPOM so it is still suitable for consumption

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of traditional meat aging on the physical quality of Landrace pork and the optimal length of time for traditional meat aging to get good quality pork. The research material used landrace pork loin on LD (Longisimus Dorsi). The design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications, namely P0 = fresh meat that was not aging, P1 = meat aging the muscle part of LD (Longisimus Dorsi) during 8 hours, P2 = meat aging the muscle part LD (Longisimus Dorsi) during 16 hours, P3 = meat aging the muscle part of the LD (Longisimus Dorsi) during 24 hoursat room temperature 28-290C. The variables observed in this study were pH measurement, meat color, water holding capacity, cooking loss, weep loss. The results showed that the traditional foraying statistics of Landrace pork crosses were significantly different (P <0.05) on pH value, meat color, water holding capacity, cooking loss, weep loss. The conclusion of this study is that Landrace pork crossing can improve the physical quality of crossing Landrace pork. The optimal length of pork delivery time to produce good quality pork for 8 hours for the color of red meat and high water holding capacity with cooking loss and low weep loss. Abstract

Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan tepung daun pepaya dalam ransum komersial terhadap distribusi lemak abdominal itik bali jantanyang telah dilakukan di Kediri Tabanan, dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan yaitu Ransum komersial 100% sebagai kontrol (A), ransum komersial 98% + 2% tepung daun pepaya (B), ransum komersial 96% + 4% tepung daun papaya (C), ransum komersial 94% + 6% tepung daun papaya (D). Peubah yang di amati adalah lemak bantalan, lemak mesenterium, lemak empedal, dan lemak abdomen. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian tepung daun papaya dalam ransum itik bali jantan dari 2 - 6%  nyata (P<0,05) dapat menurukan distribusi lemak bantalan dan lemak abdomen. Pemberian tepung daun papaya 2- 6% tidak  nyata (P>0,05) menurunkan distribusi lemak mesenterium dan empedal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Tingkat Cemaran Mikroba daging babi landrace persilangan yang diberi penambahan sekam padi pada ransum mengandung limbah hotel kering, sehingga kualitas daging dapat diketahui masih layak atau tidaknya daging untuk dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 3 bulan (23 Oktober – 23 Desember 2012). Dengan menggunakan babi persilangan Landrace x Yorkshire berjenis kelamin jantan yang sudah dikastrasi sebanyak 24 ekor dengan umur 2 bulan dan berat badan 26,15±0,73 kg. Desain percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 pelakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicobakan yaitu ransum tanpa sekam padi (R0), ransum mengandung 10% sekam padi (R1), ransum mengandung 20% sekam padi (R2) dan ransum mengandung 30% sekam padi (R3). Peubah yang diamati yaitu tingkat cemaran mikroba Total Plate Count (TPC), Coliform, dan Esherichia Coli. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian sekam padi dalam ransum mengandung limbah hotel masih dalam batas keamanan pangan (layak dikonsumsi), dengan kisaran Total Mikroba/TPC sebesar 2,14 – 3,50 x 104 cfu/ g ; Total Coliform sebesar 0,93 – 2,00 x 101 cfu/g ; dan Total E.coli sebesar 0,43 - 0,83 x 101 cfu/g.

Abstract

This study to determine the effect of substitution and addition pollard duck mix in the commercial ration, the weight cut and the external offal of ducks Bali age of ten weeks. Ducks fed 100% commercial as treatment A (control), ducks fed commercial pollard 85% + 15% + 0.3% duck mix as treatment B, ducks fed a commercial 70% + 30% + pollard "Duck Mix "0.3% as treatment C, and the ducks are fed a commercial 55% + 45% + pollard" Duck Mix '0.3% as treatment D. The results weight cut duck who gives 100% commercial ration as control 1558.60 tail, whereas treatment B, C, D has a 2.09% cut weight, 5.09%, 5.08% was not significant (P> 0, 05) lower than the control. Heavy duck head on the perpetrator A 5.30%, while B 5.28% C 2.45% D 2.45%, 1.70% D unreal, lower than the control. Heavy neck duck on treatment A 8,, 09% while B 4.57%, C 10.26%, 0.37% D unreal, higher than the control. Heavy duck leg on treatment A 2.49%, 6.83%, while B, C 10.04% D 12.45% is not real, lower than the control. Treatment duck feather weight at a 6.71%, while 6.71% B, while B 0.60%, 7.30% and D is not significantly higher and 1.04% C handles not significant lower than the control. Based on the results of the study concluded that administration pollard 15%, 30% and 45% as a substitute as feed additives commercial with "Duck Mix" produce weight cut and the external offal Bali male ducks were not different from control.
