Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life is the main recommendation of WHO to support optimal infant growth and maternal-child health. However, the success rate still varies, especially between urban and rural areas. One of the main factors influencing the success of exclusive breastfeeding is the husband's support in the form of emotional, informational, and practical support. Research shows that mothers who receive active support from their husbands are more likely to succeed in exclusive breastfeeding. Social, economic, and cultural differences influence the pattern of this support across regions. In addition, factors such as education level, maternal employment status, and cultural norms contribute to the low prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in developing countries. Mothers who work in the formal sector face greater challenges in maintaining exclusive breastfeeding due to limited maternity leave and lactation facilities. Therefore, the involvement of husbands is not only important in supporting mothers at home, but also in policy advocacy at the workplace. This study aims to analyze the role of husbands in supporting the success of exclusive breastfeeding and the differences in support between urban and rural areas. The results of the study are expected to be the basis for health policies and family-based education programs to increase the success rate of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Modern midwifery practice is increasingly shaped by medical technology and evidence-based approaches, which may at times create ethical and cultural tensions when applied in Muslim contexts. Islamic midwifery philosophy offers a value-based framework that integrates spiritual, moral, and ethical principles with clinical care. This study aimed to explore how the philosophy of midwifery in Islam provides guidance and solutions to challenges encountered in contemporary midwifery practice. A scoping review design was employed following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were conducted across multiple electronic databases, including PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, JSTOR, ScienceDirect, and university libraries. Studies published between 2019 and 2025 that addressed Islamic values, ethics, or philosophy in relation to modern midwifery practice were included. Of 1,013 records identified, six studies met the final inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that Islamic midwifery philosophy supports woman-centered, culturally sensitive, and holistic care, emphasizing respect for dignity, informed decision-making, ethical use of medical technology, and attention to emotional and spiritual well-being. Islamic values were found to enhance communication, trust, and patient engagement without opposing evidence-based practice. This review concludes that Islamic midwifery philosophy complements modern midwifery by providing ethical and practical guidance that strengthens culturally responsive, safe, and patient-centered maternity care in contemporary healthcare settings

The research aims to examine parent’s attitudes, barriers, practices in providing sex education to prevent their children from sexual abuse. Methods: A scoping review research design using database searches from Pubmed, Scopus, Ebsco, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, and manual searches carried out in 2019-2023, with the search words “parent*” AND “sex education” AND “prevent” OR “intervention” AND “child sexual abuse”. This article follows the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) scoping review framework to evaluate the studies Results: Obtained were 1061 articles, and then filtering was carried out based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and assessment of eligibility to obtain 10 articles that met the requirements. Abstract
