Abstract

Higher education, as the continuation and culmination of the formal education process, has a role and responsibility to optimize character building based on the nation’s philosophy, namely Pancasila. Indonesia today is far from Pancasila’s hopes. This article explored the landscape of internalizing the nation’s philosophical values through exposure to concepts, practices, and challenges at UIN Ar-Raniry. This research used qualitative methods with a naturalistic approach carried out at Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The sample in this study was taken using a non-probability sampling technique. Meanwhile, data collection was carried out using triangulation techniques. The data were analyzed using inductive analysis techniques with an interactive qualitative approach, comprising data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The research results showed that the process of internalizing the nation’s philosophical values at UIN Ar-Raniry was integrated with the tri-dharma of higher education. The values that were built included fundamental, instrumental, and practical values, which were crystallized into five basic character values: religion, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity. Additionally, the university strengthened character through religious moderation activities, Ma’had al-Jami’ah, and other activities supporting student character building, as evidenced by certificates that were integrated with the academic system through a Diploma Accompanying Certificate, also known as SKPI.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of the integration of Islamic values in mathematics learning on the formation of students' character. Through a literature study approach, this research highlights how values such as honesty, justice, responsibility, hard work, and awareness of the greatness of God can be applied contextually in the mathematics learning process. The results of the study show that the integration of these values not only improves students' academic understanding, but also strengthens their moral and spiritual aspects. Mathematics learning based on Islamic values is able to foster the character of students who are religious, honest, disciplined, and able to work together. However, there are challenges in implementation, such as limited time, lack of teacher training, and the absence of a systematic learning model. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a curriculum and learning strategies that are able to accommodate the incorporation of Islamic values in mathematics education effectively.

Abstract

Effective communication and creative thinking are soft skills that are very necessary in the 21st century. Character is a set of traits which means personality and morals. This research aims to describe the analysis of needs for designing instruments for assessing effective communication and creative thinking for Aceh vocational school students in carrying out assessments of effective communication and creative thinking. Data was obtained from a questionnaire of 65 Aceh Vocational School students. The sample used was 65 Aceh vocational school students. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to the entire sample. Data were analyzed using the social sciences statistical package version 25.0 for frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The research results show the need to study effective communication and creative thinking as a reference in preparing students to enter the world of work and industry. This is done because so far there has been no assessment of effective communication and creative thinking because there are no instruments, so it cannot be concluded whether students who have completed vocational education so far have done well or not in meeting government and industry expectations. The character of effective communication and creative thinking is an important and necessary consideration in the industrial world known as atitut. On this basis, it can be concluded that it is necessary to design an instrument to assess the character of effective communication and creative thinking

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of religious character, development strategies, and the obstacles and solutions in the internalization of religious values among students at MIN 10 Kota Banda Aceh. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants included the principal, teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings indicate that students’ religious character is reflected in habitual worship, respectful behavior, and social empathy. Character development is implemented through five main strategies: role modeling, spiritual storytelling, religious advice, habituation of religious practices, and thematic discussions, supported by QURMA programs and extended diniyah hours. Major challenges include limited human resources, time constraints, funding, and inconsistent family support. These challenges are addressed through managerial innovations, stakeholder collaboration, and strengthened communication. This study recommends a collaborative and culturally grounded model of religious character education for Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of ta'dib according to Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas and its relevance in contemporary Islamic education, with reference to his work The Concept of Education in Islam: A Framework for an Islamic Philosophy of Education. Al-Attas defines ta'dib as the process of internalizing manners, which includes the cultivation of knowledge, moral discipline, and awareness of intellectual and spiritual responsibilities in the proper order of life. This study also examines how the concept of ta'dib can be implemented in modern Islamic education systems and the challenges faced in realizing it. Through a qualitative approach based on literature study, this study finds that the concept of ta'dib according to Al-Attas plays an important role in shaping individuals who not only have intellectual intelligence, but are also civilized, moral, and have an awareness of the true purpose of life. The implementation of ta'dib in modern Islamic education can be done through curriculum reconstruction based on the integration of knowledge and spiritual values, the creation of an educational environment that instills manners as a main principle, and the optimization of the role of educators as role models. However, in practice, the application of ta'dib faces various challenges, such as the secularization of education that separates knowledge from Islamic values, the ambiguity of educational goals that focus more on pragmatic aspects, and a lack of comprehensive understanding of the concept of ta'dib among educators and policymakers. Therefore, the concept of ta'dib is a strategic step in building an Islamic education system that is oriented towards a balance between intellectual intelligence, character building, and spiritual awareness as envisioned.

Abstract

This study examines the central government’s neglect of madrasah development in the Special Autonomous Region of Aceh, which may hinder the achievement of inclusive and equitable education. While previous research has largely focused on normative and descriptive aspects, this study addresses the overlooked implications of this neglect. The purpose of this research is to analyze and evaluate the forms, factors, and impacts of the central government’s neglect of madrasah development in Aceh. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design is employed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the issue. The findings indicate that government neglect manifests in several ways, including limited routine funding for curriculum development, resulting in inadequate learning materials and compromised educational quality. Furthermore, madrasah infrastructure has not been prioritized, resulting in insufficient facilities that hinder effective teaching. Additionally, low incentives for madrasah educators have negatively affected their welfare and motivation. These findings underscore the need for more equitable educational policies and highlight the urgency of increasing governmental support for madrasah development, particularly in special autonomous regions. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of addressing these systemic issues to promote quality education and improve the overall well-being of educators and students in the region.
