Abstract

Science process skills (SPS) are essential in science education as they support students in understanding scientific concepts, thinking critically, and developing problem-solving abilities. This study aims to analyze the SPS of new students at SMKN 1 Hanau, Central Kalimantan, as an initial diagnosis in science learning. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 111 new students for the 2024/2025 academic year, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through SPS tests, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics.The results show that students’ integrated science process skills fall into the very low category across all measured aspects: identifying and controlling variables (34.1), formulating hypotheses (33.5), defining operational definitions (31.5), graphing and data interpretation (30.2), and experimental planning (36.8). Over 90% of students were classified in the very low category for nearly all aspects, although a few students achieved high and very high categories, especially in graphing and experimental planning.In conclusion, the integrated SPS of SMKN 1 Hanau students are generally in the very low category, indicating the need for greater emphasis on developing scientific skills. This can be achieved through more interactive and inquiry-based learning that encourages students to ask scientific questions, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings logically and systematically.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the use of technology in education that is increasingly developing, and with chatbot applications, is one of the technologies that can be utilized to improve classroom learning quality. The research method used is quantitative. The type of research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The total population and sample consist of 63 students divided into two classes, 5A and 5B. Data collection techniques using test and non-test. The data collection instruments are question sheets, observation sheets, and documentation guidelines. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing. Based on the data analysis obtained, 1) The Control class pretest learning outcomes are 47.74. while the posttest is 71.61. 2) The experimental class pretest learning outcomes are 53.44, and the posttest is 86.88. 3) The blended learning method assisted by the NAFA chatbot application has a significant effect. 4) The blended learning method assisted by the NAFA chatbot application has an effect size test of 4.2335. So, it can be concluded that the blended learning method assisted by the NAFA chatbot application greatly influences learning outcomes. These findings imply that chatbot-assisted blended learning holds strong potential for fostering interactive and student-centered classrooms in elementary education. Future studies are recommended to expand the scope across subjects, student populations, and school settings, and to explore their long-term impact on learners’ motivation, engagement, and critical thinking.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of digital technology that has shown a positive impact on the academic presentation of students. Chatbot applications is one technology that can be utilized to improve the quality of learning in the classroom.The research method used is Quasi Experimental with pretest-postest control group design. The total population in this study were 128 5th grade students. The samples used were class 5B and Class 5C. Data collection techniques used tests and non-tests. The data collection instruments used were question sheets, observation sheets, and documentation guidelines. The analysis technique used was descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing.based on data analysis obtained: 1) Control class pretest learning outcomes was 34 while the posttest was 59. 2) Experimental class pretest learning outcomes was 46,77 while the posttest was 80,96. 3) There is a significant effect on the application of the blended learning method assisted by DARA chatbot application. with an effect size test of 9.1935. So it can be concluded that in general the use of blended learning methods assisted by DARA chatbot applications has a high influence on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the lack of teacher training in promoting Science Process Skills (SPS) in learners in a school. The purpose of this study was to describe the data of learners' KPS: 1. control class learners' KPS on the material of human movement organs in class V at MIN 1 Pontianak. 2. KPS of experimental class students on the same material. 3. The effect of students' KPS between control and experimental classes at MIN 1 Pontianak. The research method uses a quantitative approach with experimental methods, using a quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data were collected through multiple choice tests, teacher observation, and documentation, then analyzed with descriptive, statistical, and hypothesis tests. The results showed an increase in KPS scores in the experimental class from pretest (56.24%) to posttest (66.00%), while the control class showed a smaller increase (from 45.24% to 51.41%). Nevertheless, the Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no significant effect of the problem-based learning model on students' KPS. This indicates that there is no significant difference between the mean scores of the two groups. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas tentang kurangnya pelatihan guru dalam meningkatkan Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) pada peserta didik di MIN 1 Pontianak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan data KPS peserta didik: 1. KPS peserta didik kelas kontrol pada materi organ gerak manusia di kelas V MIN 1 Pontianak. 2. KPS peserta didik kelas eksperimen pada materi yang sama. 3. Pengaruh KPS peserta didik antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen di MIN 1 Pontianak. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen, menggunakan desain penelitian quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pilihan ganda, observasi guru, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan uji deskriptif, statistik, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor KPS pada kelas eksperimen dari pretest (56,24%) ke posttest (66,00%), sedangkan pada kelas kontrol menunjukkan peningkatan yang lebih kecil (dari 45,24% ke 51,41%). Meskipun demikian, uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap KPS siswa. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai rata-rata kedua kelompok.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students and teachers who still use lecture and question-and-answer learning methods in science learning class 4 SDN 12 Pontianak Timur. The purpose of this study was to analyze the learning outcomes of students at the beginning, end, and how the effect of the guide note-taking strategy assisted by motion graphic animation video media. The method used is a quantitative experiment with the design "nonequivalent control group design". The population in this study were all grade 4 students of State Elementary School 12 East Pontianak. The samples in this study were class 4A as the control class and class 4B as the experimental class. Data was collected using observation sheets, test sheets and documentation. The average result of the control class pretest was 67.976, while the experimental class was 75.35. While the control class post-test was 76.68, and the experimental class was 89.59. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using SPSS, the value (sig) of 0.004 <0.05 was obtained. Indicates there is a difference in average between research samples. Based on the processed effect size results, it is known that the Cohen's d effect size value of 0.60 is included in the medium criteria. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the guide note-taking strategy assisted by motion graphic animation video media on student learning outcomes, namely 0.60 with a moderate category.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of the problem-based learning model (PBL) with flashcard media on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VI MIS Al-Mustaqim Sungai Raya students. The study used a quantitative method with an experimental design. The results showed that the PBL model with flashcard media had a significant effect on the students' learning outcomes, both in terms of cognitive and psychomotor skills. The average cognitive pretest score of the experimental class was 57.4, which increased to 82.6 after the PBL model was applied. The average psychomotor pretest score was 60.08, which increased to 88.204 after the PBL model was applied. The independent sample t-test showed that the difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups was statistically significant (p < 0.05). This suggests that the PBL model with flashcard media is an effective way to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VI MIS Al-Mustaqim Sungai Raya students.

Abstract

This research aims to arouse students' interest in learning through demonstration methods in science subjects. The type of research used is field research with a descriptive analysis method throught a qualitative approach. The data sources in this research are class IV teachers and class IV students. Collection techniques and tools use interview techniques with semi-structured interview guidelines, and observation techniques use observation sheets, while documentation techniques use check list guidelines, photos and so on. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Data validity testing techniques use source triangulation and data triangulation. The results of the research show that: (1) Teachers' understanding of the demonstration method in science subjects is quite understanding of the application of the demonstration method; (2) The steps taken by the teacher in implementing the demonstration method are quite good in the science learning process; (3) Students' interest in learning increased after implementing the demonstration method, namely 22 students. So it can be concluded that the demonstration method can arouse students' interest in learning in science subjects with energy source material.

Abstract

One of the learning behavior problems of slow learners is off-task behavior during assignments. This study aims to identify and understand the factors that influence this behavior, which often disrupts concentration and learning effectiveness. The method used was a case study of 6th grade students at SD Plus Bina 45 Pontianak. Data were collected by direct observation of students' behavior during learning, interviews and documentation. The results of the research obtained by researchers from observation and interview data found that of the 35 learners who were in the class all performed off-task behavior in the form of talking to friends, leaving class without permission, disturbing other friends, daydreaming, sleeping in class, eating and drinking, and drawing or crossing out books. Off-task behavior is caused by lack of attention from the teacher, disinterest in the subject matter, and the influence of the external environment. In addition, the study found that these behaviors often arise in response to students' physical or emotional discomfort. The findings are expected to provide insights for educators and parents on the importance of creating a conducive learning environment as well as strategies to reduce off-task behaviors, thereby increasing students' engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the essential skills that must be nurtured from the early stages of formal education, especially in responding to the increasing complexity of information flow. In practice, however, elementary school students often struggle to analyze problems, construct logical reasoning, and draw conclusions from given information. This study aimed to enhance students’ critical thinking skills by implementing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with video media in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a quantitative approach, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 30 fourth-grade students at SDN 03 Pontianak Timur. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The results indicated an increase in mastery from 27% in the pre-action stage, to 60% in Cycle I, and reaching 83% in Cycle II. The implementation of PBL supported by video media proved effective in fostering students’ active engagement and gradually strengthening their critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

The digital literacy movement helps students to develop critical and analytical thinking skills in evaluating digital information, so that they can distinguish true and useful information from misleading or harmful information. This study aims to explore the implementation of digital literacy at SDN 09 North Pontianak, identify challenges and supporting factors in the learning process. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive design, this study collected data through observation, interviews with the principal, teachers and students, and documentation. The findings show that although the school has shown commitment by providing infrastructure such as Chromebooks and projectors, challenges such as limited access to technology at home and students' fear and hesitation in using digital devices remain. Learning strategies involving collaboration between low- and high-ability students were implemented to improve digital literacy skills. This study concludes that the success of digital literacy at SDN 09 North Pontianak relies heavily on support from parents and the community, as well as a gradual approach to the introduction of technology. With the right support, schools can prepare students to face the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.
