Abstract

Coffee, one of Indonesia's largest commodities, is often processed using traditional methods and tools that rely heavily on manual labor and can be labor-intensive. To make the coffee roasting process more efficient and reduce the need for human effort, a coffee roasting machine can be used. This study aimed to analyze coffee roasting drums using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to determine the optimal drum thickness and rotation speed in a coffee roasting machine. The study considered three different thicknesses (1mm, 2mm, and 3mm) and three different rotation speeds (60rpm, 65rpm, and 70rpm). The coffee roasting drum was modeled using CFD. The study's results showed that a drum thickness of 2mm and a rotation speed of 70rpm achieved the best heat distribution during roasting, reaching the desired temperature in 900 seconds. This information could be used to design a more efficient coffee roasting machine or improve the performance of existing machines.

Abstract

Energi merupakan salah satu masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh hampir seluruh negara di dunia. Hal ini mengingat energi merupakan salah satu faktor utama bagi terjadinya pertumbuhan ekonomi suatu negara. Permasalahan energi menjadi semakin kompleks ketika kebutuhan yang meningkat akan energi untuk menopang pertumbuhan ekonominya justru membuat persediaan cadangan energi konvensional menjadi semakin sedikit. Seiring dengan bertambahnya jumlah penduduk, maka kebutuhan energi listrik juga akan bertambah. Pembangkit yang ada di Indonesia masih terbatas pada umumnya berasal dari energi air, panas bumi, dan batu bara sedangkan pemanfaatan Energi yang lainnya, misalnya energi listrik yang berasal dari sinar matahari jarang digunakan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, energi surya dipilih sebagai energi alternatif untuk produksi listrik. Untuk dapat memanfaatkan energi matahari secara terus menerus baik siang maupun malam, energi listrik yang dihasilkan terlebih dahulu disimpan dalam baterai yang dikendalikan oleh pengontrol. Output dari pengontrol dihubungkan langsung ke inverter DC ke AC. Jadi apabila listrik dari PT PLN padam maka lampu di dalam rumah tidak akan padam, selain itu khusus untuk penerangan dan beban kecil tenaga surya sehingga mengurangi pembelian token listrik dan menjadi lebih efisien. Biaya pemakaian listrik per hari dalam setahun rata-rata 365 hari, maka harga listrik sebesar Rp. 558.450,-. dan biaya pembelian peralatan energi surya yaitu Rp. 5.425.000, akan kembal modal (break even point) dalam waktu 9,71 tahun. Hasil penelitian bahwa energi listrik yang digunakan untuk keperluan lampu penerangan dan beban dalam rumah sederhana di penelitian ini, rata-rata perhari memerlukan energi listrik sebesar 1,132 kWh. Kemudian setelah dikonversikan dengan Tarif Dasar Listrik (TDL) yang berlaku yaitu Rp. 1.352 per kWh, biaya untuk pemakaian listrik setiap harinya adalah sebesar Rp. 1.530,- dan dalam setahun rata-rata terdiri dari 365 hari, maka biaya listrik yang digunakan dalam waktu setahun adalah sebesar Rp. 1.530,- x 365 hari = Rp. 558.450,-. Jadi biaya pengadaan perangkat solar cell untuk keperluan rumah tinggal yang sesuai dengan beban yang ada yaitu sebesar Rp. 5.425.000,-, akan kembali modal dalam waktu 9,714 tahun.

Abstract

The creation, transmission, distribution, and consumption of electrical energy are the first steps in the provision of electrical energy. The efforts that are made to conserve energy need to be continuously improved to supply electricity that is affordable. In order to conserve energy, it is necessary to have the backing of technology, laws, and legislation, in addition to applying behavioral discipline to those who utilize energy. To put it simply, a smart energy meter is one of the fundamental components of conservation technology. At the moment, the bulk of PLN's 67.6 million clients make use of traditional energy meters that are powered by electromechanical technology. The measuring device has not been incorporated with the technology that is associated with the internet of things (IoT). On the other hand, electronic items like televisions, washing machines, and air conditioners have started to adopt the Internet of Things and become smart devices. The integration of smart gadgets and smart meters enables the creation of an energy management system that can be used to the consumption and distribution of electricity in residential or commercial facilities. At Tiara Sella Hospital, which has a high monthly energy consumption, this community service project was carried out in order to measure the optimization of energy use and to determine opportunities for improvement. It is believed that the installation of this energy meter would result in improved and more reliable methods of measuring and estimating the amount of energy that is utilized within the hospital setting, which will allow for more sustainable optimization efforts.

Abstract

Kegiatan pelepasan tukik merupakan salah satu wujud nyata dari hasil penelitian mahasiswa yang berfokus pada upaya konservasi penyu, khususnya di wilayah pesisir Bengkulu. Program ini muncul sebagai respons terhadap penurunan populasi penyu yang disebabkan oleh perusakan habitat, perburuan liar, serta rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya pelestarian spesies ini. Dengan pendekatan yang partisipatif, kegiatan ini melibatkan mahasiswa, masyarakat lokal, dan mitra konservasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman serta kepedulian terhadap pelestarian penyu. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi, edukasi lingkungan, serta pelepasan tukik ke habitat alaminya, yang menjadi simbol nyata dari sumbangsih ilmiah dan sosial mahasiswa dalam konservasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai siklus hidup penyu dan pentingnya menjaga ekosistem pesisir. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga memperkuat kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi dan komunitas lokal dalam pengembangan program konservasi yang berkelanjutan. Diharapkan, kegiatan ini bisa menjadi model pengabdian masyarakat yang berbasis penelitian dan dapat dicontohkan di wilayah pesisir lainnya.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu mengembangkan usaha melalui pengelolaan ekonomi dan bisnis digital, melalui pemberian pengetahuan dan keterampilan manajemen usaha produktif dari tiga bidang, yaitu keuangan, produksi dan pemasaran. Mitra yang didampingi pada kegiatan ini adalah pengrajin kopi yaitu Komocha Black Coffee (KBC). Target utama dalam kegiatan ini adalah terjadi peningkatan pendapatan pelaku usaha. Metode kegiatan ini adalah diskusi, pelatihan, wawancara dan pendampingan. Hasil kegiatan ini telah dirasakan bermanfaat bagi tim mitra, karena pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra mengalami peningkatan yang luar biasa. Mitra memiliki toko online, iklan bersponsor, pencatatan keuangan digital dan memiliki mesin roasting kopi.

Abstract

Airplanes are one of the safest modes of transportation, to ensure this safetyness an analysis is needed to understand the response of the aircraft components. One of them is the fairing on the flap arms, which is part of the aircraft wing structure, where this component supports the movement of the aircraft's flaps. Fairing will experience loading during takeoff, top speed, and landing. One of the loads that occur on the fairing is air pressure. The use of the finite element ethod (FEM) as a method to determine the response of the fairing after being subjected to dynamic loading. In the take-off condition, the total deformation is  mm and the equivalent stress is 5,17 Pa. In the top speed condition, the total deformation is   mm and the equivalent stress is 199,04 Pa. Whereas in the landing condition, the total deformation is  mm and the equivalent stress is 38,812 Pa.

Abstract

Plastic chopper machine is a machine used to crush plastics into smaller sizes, in the world of the plastic processing machine industry using kinetic energy on the fly wheel as a storage of rotational power, when the plastic chopper is working there is still a decrease in rotating power so it needs further analysis. Direct testing is carried out in the field, namely on a work system with multilevel loads on a plastic chopper, testing the endurance of a fly wheel mass that is suitable for maintaining the performance of a plastic chopper. From the test results of the play wheel mass of 55 Kg, it obtained 71 Newton's inertia, with a decrease in rotational power: 450 rpm in a period of 6 seconds, and was able to increase the turning power back in a period of 6 seconds. At a mass of 35 kg obtained 45 Newton's inertia force, a decrease in rotational power: 450 rpm in a period of 2 seconds, a rotational force: 450 rpm in a period of 2 seconds is obtained. From the test, it is obtained the influence of the mass of the ply wheel on the resistance of rotation and increase in rotation when the load is removed.

Abstract

Kalamansi oranges (Citrus microcarpa) are a horticultural commodity typical of Bengkulu Province with high economic potential. However, their utilization as a value-added processed product is still limited. This training activity aims to provide knowledge and skills in making kalamansi syrup, a superior product of Bengkulu Province, to residents of RT 18, Lempuing Village, Bengkulu City. The activity was carried out through socialization, practice, and evaluation methods. The training results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills and the formation of a small-scale business development plan. This activity supports community empowerment and strengthening the local economy, while promoting Bengkulu's signature products.

Abstract

Waste management has become a critical environmental issue in Bandung Regency due to increasing waste generation and the limited capacity of landfill sites. Improper waste management contributes to environmental pollution, public health problems, and the underutilization of waste as a potential economic resource. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to strengthen community capacity and participation in technology-based waste management through collaboration with the Environmental Agency of Bandung Regency by applying Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) technology. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, including initial socialization and education on waste management and environmental impacts, technical training on the operation and maintenance of RDF machines, and continuous assistance in managing processed waste products with economic value, such as organic compost and plastic pellets. Program evaluation employed a multidimensional impact assessment covering environmental, social, and economic aspects through pre-test and post-test instruments, participatory observation, and activity documentation. The results indicate a significant improvement in community knowledge, awareness, and participation in waste management practices, along with the potential reduction of landfill burden and the creation of new employment opportunities. This program demonstrates that technology-based waste management combined with a community-based waste management approach and circular economy principles can serve as a sustainable solution that delivers environmental, social, and economic benefits for local communities.

Abstract

Despite coffee is one of the leading commodities in Bengkulu Province, the traditional drying process of coffee beans for 10-14 days are still a common practice. This research aims to design, fabricate, and evaluate the thermal performance of a 50 kg capacity wood-fueled coffee drying oven. A three-dimensional CFD model was developed using ANSYS Fluent to analyze temperature distribution within the drying chamber and optimize thermal performance prior to fabrication. Experimental testing was conducted to validate the numerical predictions under controlled operating conditions. The proposed technology is distinguished by its use of locally available biomass fuel. The results of the coffee drying oven simulation, under empty conditions, achieved the desired temperature based. The drying time for coffee beans in this research was 9 hours, achieving a moisture content of 10% to 13% (a moisture content of 12.5% is the Indonesian National Standard. Simulation results predicted chamber temperatures ranging from 67°C to 87°C with an inlet temperature of approximately 100°C, indicating adequate thermal conditions for drying. Experimental measurements showed good agreement with the CFD model, reaching near-steady thermal conditions within 25 minutes.
