Abstract

Sungai Damar menunjukkan permasalahan sampah. Masyarakat bantaran sungai kurang peduli dengan kondisi sungai dan dampak sampah pada lingkungan hidupnya. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi dan pola perilaku masyarakat bantaran sungai dalam membuang sampah di sungai dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi persepsi dan perilaku tersebut. Selain itu dianalisis pula upaya yang sudah dilakukan untuk menanggulangi sampah di sungai. Hasil analisis digunakan untuk mendesain pemberdayaan masyarakat  dalam penanggulangan sampah berbasis persepsi dan pola perilaku terhadap lingkungan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif desain studi kasus. Narasumber penelitian adalah masyarakat RT 02 RW 03 Desa Weleri yang tinggal di bantaran Sungai Damar, Kepala Desa Weleri, ketua RW 03, dan pihak Dinas Cipta Karya dan Tata Ruang. Data dikumpulkan pada bulan Mei-Juli 2016 melalui wawancara, kuesioner, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persepsi yang rendah terhadap sampah. Rendahnya persepsi berpangaruh terhadap munculnya perilaku membuang sampah di sungai. Ketiadaan fasilitas tempat sampah dan truk pengangkut sampah menjadi faktor utama penyebab rendah persepsi dan perilaku terhadap sampah. Upaya sosialisasi dan program Bank Sampah dari desa tidak berjalan lancar. Pemberdayaan masyarakat ditempuh melalui penyusunan pedoman pemberdayaan masyarakat, pembagian leaflet tentang pengelolaan sampah, pengadaan tempat sampah, dan pengajuan pengangkutan sampah.   Damar River shows a complicated problem of garbage. People living at its riverbank seem to ignore the garbage impacts on their environment. This study aimed to analyze people’ perceptions and behavior pattern of dispensing garbage into Damar River, identify the factors influencing those above, and also describe the efforts taken by the community to address the garbage problems. All collected information was then used for redesigning community empowerment toward rivers garbage. The study approaches used was qualitative case study design. Informants involved in the study were the society of RT 02 RW 03 living along the riverbank, chairman of Weleri and RW 03, and the staff of the Department of Human Settlements and Spatial Planning. The data was collected by interview, questionnaire, observation, and documentation study. The findings showed that the perception of the society was more likely to be clearly weak. This low perception seemed correlated with their behavior patterns on dispensing garbage into the river. The lack of garbage bins and dump trucks became the major factor for this wrong doing behavior. Some community empowerment modes to overcome these existing problem were attitude based socialiszation on garbage problems via interesting leaflets, availability of dump trucks, and education about Garbage Banks and trainings on waste recycling.

Abstract

Persentase penguasaan peserta didik pada soal Ujian Nasional materi metabolisme sel hanya mencapai 64,35 %, hal ini menunjukkan rendahnya penguasaan peserta didik pada materi tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis penguasaan konsep peserta didik terhadap materi metabolisme sel dan faktor penyebab kesulitan peserta didik memahami konsep pada materi tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif desain studi kasus. Sampel sekolah dipilih berdasarkan persentase penguasaan peserta didiknya dibawah 70 % terhadap materi soal Ujian Nasional pada materi metabolisme.Narasumber penelitian adalah peserta didik, guru Biologi dan wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes penguasaan konsep, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan konsep peserta didik pada materi metabolisme sel masih rendah. Peserta didik mengalami kesulitan belajar materi metabolisme sel. Peserta didik kesulitan memahami istilah ilmiah, reaksi kimia yang terlibat pada proses respirasi sel dan fotosintesis serta konsep yang dianggap abstrak. Peserta didik juga kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal analisis serta mengaitkan hubungan antara konsep. Kesulitan tersebut disebabkan oleh intensitas belajar peserta didik yang rendah, strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan masih berpusat pada guru serta sarana dan prasarana pendukung pembelajaran yang belum memadai. Percentage of learners’ mastery about cell metabolism material in National Examination only reaches 64.35% on National level, it indicated the low level of learners’ mastery of this material. This study aims to analyze the difficulties of learners in understanding the concept of cell metabolism material; analyze the learners’ mastery of concepts and instructional strategies that are applied by teachers. The research used qualitative approach of case study design. The school is selected based on the percentage of learners’ mastery about metabolism material in National Examination that indicated under 70%.The research subjects are learners, Biology teachers and vice principals of the curriculum field. Data were collected through concept mastering tests, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The study showed that the learner’s mastery of the concept on cell metabolism material is still low. The learners have difficulty in learning cell metabolism material. The learners difficult to understand the scientific terms, chemical reactions that involved in cell respirationprocess, photosynthesis and concepts that are considered as the abstract material. The learners difficult to answer analysis questions and correlate the concepts relation. Those difficulties were caused by the low of learning intensity, teacher-centered strategy, and non-adequate facilities and infrastructure that support teaching learning process.

Abstract

Problem solving skill is needed by the students on the daily basis; therefore, the innovation is demanded in the learning process. ADI model with problem solving method is the learning innovation which is expected to improve the students' thinking skills and giving the argument. This research aims to describe the effect of ADI model with problem solving method on the argumentation and critical thinking skills. This research was the experimental study employing cluster random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used independent sample t-test. The result of the students' pretest shows that the students’ argumentation and critical thinking skills are in the poor category. Meanwhile, the result of the posttest shows that the there is the improvement on the students’ skills after being given the treatment in the form of ADI model with Problem Solving method. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of ADI model with Problem Solving method has the effect on the argumentation and critical thinking skills. Viewed from the result of t-test from n-gain result, experimental class is higher than the control class. The learning activity that applies this method will be developed if the teachers can design the contextual activities and provide the questions related to the students’ real life in which they are not merely stated in the textbook. Problem-solving skills are needed by students in everyday life, So it needs an innovation in the learning activities in school. Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) models with Problem Solving method is a learning innovation that is expected to improve students' ability to think and argue. The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model of Problem Solving to the ability of argumentation and critical thinking. This study was an experimental study with the entire population of students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Semarang. Sampling using probability sampling and cluster random sampling. Class VIII G as an experimental class treated Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) models with Problem Solving Method and VIII F as a control class that are subjected to information and discussion models. Data in the form are argumentation skills and critical thinking skills. Data were analyzed using independent sample t test.  The results of pretest show that students' argumentation and critical thinking are in the low category. While posttest result indicate that there is improvement of student ability after given treatment ADI with problem solving method. Based on the results of data analysis can be concluded that the application of the model ADI with Problem Solving method affect the development of argumentation and critical thinking skills. Viewed of n-gain t test experiment class ability is higher than the control class. This Learning activities can be developed better by teachers with designing learning activities contextually and give questions related to student life, not just about textbooks.

Abstract

The authentic assessment in biology teaching learning at vocational school of Bawen, SMK Negeri 1 Bawern, especially at the department of  post harvest technology, has not been fully implemented yet. This study was aimed at developing and analyzing the validity, reliability, effectiveness, and practicality of authentic assessment tools such as concept map assessment (CMA), self assessment (SA), and performance assessment (PA) for vocational students. This research used Research and Development (R & D) approaches. Content and construction validities were verified by experts. Concruent and predictive validity  of CMA was  verified by score of correlation between CMA score and master map as well as final semester score. Concruent validity of SA was  calculated from corelation scores of PA and  basic competency 3.5. Concruent and predictive validations were calculated by pearson corelation product moment. Reliability of CMA and PA was analysed by  reliability inter-rater reliability techniques. Reliability of SA was calculated by alpha cronbach’s methods. Effectiveness and praticability of  instruments were calculated from  teachers’s and students’ responses analysed with percentage description techniques. The results showed that the concept map has excellent content and construction validity, excellent concurrency validity, and good predictive validity. Self assessment had excellent content and construction validity and good concurrency validity. PA had excellent content and construction validity and good concurrency validity. CMA is very effective for measuring cognitive aspects, SA is very effective to measure scientific attitudes, and PA of biological process skills. The three types of assessment were  claimed to have practicality in terms of time, ease of use, ease of correction, facility supports, and cost required

Abstract

The development of information in the digital era and the technology progression have an impact on the easy access to information. Society tend to receive the information from sources that have not been accurate. Observation in IPA class on natural science subject is still based on the package books and LKS which provided by the school. Learning natural science through news increase the student involvement and support a lifelong learning. Thus the IPA teacher presents a model of news-based teaching  at environmental pollution topic. The method used is a Quasi Experimental Design with the non-equivalent control group design. The population is seventh grade students in junior high school IT Al Madani. Sampling with cluster random were taken by two classes. The results showed the t-test different significant (sig value > 0,05). The increase literacy in science class experiment were 49,2%, while the control class were 36,0%. Critical thinking ability of students have a different significant (sig value > 0,05). The ability of critical thinking students class experiments were 28,3%, while control class were 21,7%. Model news-based teaching familiarize students to think seamlessly and original then develop  the creativity. Creativity in the experiment class were more develop than the control class. Creativity in the form of written ideas are the works of scientific posters, letters for officials, and recycle products. The conclusion were news-based teaching model influenced the science literacy, critical thinking, and creativity.

Abstract

The Dieng Plateau is an active volcanic area in Central Java, which belongs to the Banjarnegara Regency and Wonosobo Regency. The Dieng Plateau has an abundance natural potency, such as of plants. This study aims to identify the plant species richness and its benefits by local people. The plants species richness data collected by exploration method. Data collection is done by means of exploration, identification, interview, literature, analyzes, and documentation. The results of the study found there are 29 species of medicinal plants originating from 22 families. The plant that is most widely used as a medicine comes from the family Solanaceae, which is Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.). The most common species of medicinal plants are found in Parikesit Village. The knowledge of the Dieng Javanese people about the benefits of medicinal plants is mostly influenced by generations (73.2%). The most widely used parts of plant organs are the leaves. The processing technology of plants that usually used is by pulverizing. The medicinal plants mostly found in the Dieng Javanese yard. It proves that the medicinal plants is still used by the Dieng Javanese people as knowledge that can be passed on to the next generation.

Abstract

This Research aims (1) to analyze the validity of supplementary book on research-based which is developed according to experts, media and user; (2) to analyze the effectiveness of supplementary book research-based to enhance the results of the study. This study used a modified Borg & Gall development model. The method used to analyze the validity of supplementary book, which is tested the components of feasibility and readability. The feasibility component test was given to materials experts, media experts and users, while the readability test was given to 27 students. The effectiveness of supplementary book is done in  SMA N 8 Semaang, using the Pre Experimental Design type One Group Pretest Posttest Design with a sample of 72 students. Validity and effectiveness test results were analyzed using quantitative descriptive method. Supplementary book effectively used in learning can be seen through KKM and N-Gain results. The results  shows that; (1) supplementary book on research based reach very valid criteria according to experts, media and user; (2) supplementary book on research based developed effective as  students learning outcomes proven by achieving 100% Minimum Criteria (KKM) and N-Gain in the medium criteria. This is also supported by affective aspects with excellent criteria and psychomotor aspects with highly skilled criteria. Supplementary book on research based on mangrove ecosystems are stated to be very valid and effective towards students? learning outcomes.

Abstract

The National Science Olympic (OSN) is a prestigious event in the world of education organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture ( Kemendikbud ). OSN is implemented with the aim of facilitating and motivating students who have talent in the field of science, so that they can improve their abilities and select students to the international level . The good achievements of Indonesian sons and daughters in academia provide promising Human Resources (HR) solutions. However few students are aware of and interested to participate and compete with other academic institutions at national level even in the midst of international. The module is a supporting medium for the preparation of the selection of candidates for the regency level high school science olympic participants. The development of a question-based module for high school biology olympic is expected to improve school human resources to involve students in various national and international competitions. The results showed that "Problem Based Module Development as a Preparation for Selection of Science Olympic Participants in Biology for High School Level" found three findings. First, a module based on biology olympic questions is valid for use in the learning process based on validation by material experts and media experts with a percentage of 86% with very valid criteria. Second , the module based on biology olympic questions is effectively used to improve student learning outcomes seen from the N-gain value of 0.70 high criteria. Third, the module based on the SMA biology Olympic questions is practically used by teachers and students, based on the results of the teacher's response assessment of 93%, the criteria are very feasible to facilitate the task of the teacher in preparing lesson plans, facilitate the implementation of learning, and make it easier to evaluate student learning outcomes. The student response is 85.2%. The criteria are very suitable for students to use both in terms of good presentation, easy to understand, and can increase learning motivation and interest in participating in the Olympics .

Abstract

Difficulty in understanding the material and the decline in student learning outcomes can be managed by developing teaching materials tailored to the needs of students. This study aims to develop guided inquiry-based digestive system teaching materials as a source of student learning to improve student's critical thinking and scientific attitude. The method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) with the steps used are: 1) Identify potential and problems; 2) collecting data; 3) product design; 4) design validation; 5) main product revision design; 6) small-scale trial; 7) second product revision; 8) wide-scale test; 9) product revision; 10) final product. Class Students research subjects XI MIPA 4 and XI MIPA 5 SMAN 5 Cirebon with 60 students as subject. The results showed: (1) guided inquiry-based teaching material products developed based on the guided inquiry syntax; (2) the validity of teaching materials based on the validation scores of material and media experts, respectively 95% and 96.25% with very valid criteria; (3) guided inquiry-based teaching materials based on results of the analysis of the description test and the analysis of the scientific attitude assessment question, it shows that teaching material effectively improve the learning outcomes of student’s critical thinking and scientific attitude. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the digestive system teaching materials developed have characteristics based on the guided inquiry syntax, including: formulate the problem, make a hypothesis, planning an experiment, collecting data and conclusion, very valid and effective teaching materials improve critical thinking and scientific attitude of students.

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of based biodiversity teaching materials Socio Scientific Issue (SSI) in improving students’ scientific literacy. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) that use the ADDIE model by applying a one group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects to test the teaching materials developed were two expert lecturers consisting of Biology material experts, media experts, practitioners and 125 students of class X MIPA in Kudus. The research instruments are expert validation questionnaire, readability questionnaires of teaching materials and scientific literacy test questions. The analysis of the expert validation questionnaire data showed the average score on the feasibility aspects that were considered very valid. The readability questionnaire analysis describe the teaching materials as having very good readability, which meant that the teaching materials were easy to understand and read by students. The results of the N-Gain analysis of scientific literacy for each aspect of scientific literacy are in the moderate category. The aspect of science as a body of knowledge is 0.49, science as a way of investigation is 0.52, science as a way of thinking is 0.50 and the interaction of science, technology and society is 0.56. Based on the results of the analysis of biodiversity teaching materials based on the Socio Scientific Issue, it is very suitable to be used in learning and is effective in improving students' scientific literacy skills.
