Abstract

Terrorism is the major issue in the recent years. As political communications forms, terrorism can only have significance as a communication act if the action of terrorism group transmitted through the mass media to the large audience. Terrorist did violence and other terror actions in order to get support from public, make fearness for institutional government and raise funding from their supporters.

Abstract

Various accesses to information of COVID-19 can be reached through the internet. The internet, which can be used by anyone, anytime, and anywhere, pervades the boundary of people's dimensions of life, time, and space. Social media is the platform used by internet users to search for information about COVID-19. From the perspective of technological determinism, technology determines and shapes human life. This research attempts to analyze the use of social media for searching for information regarding COVID-19 and aims to comprehend the use of social media for searching for information regarding COVID-19 among Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta's students. The research is essential to map out student's behavior in searching for information regarding COVID-19. The research found that students were digital natives that used social media for searching for information about COVID-19. The students were digitally literate in using social media to search for information regarding COVID-19 by verifying information before disseminating it on their social media account.

Abstract

This study attempts to describe the strategy and the distribution pattern of “Ngamen” cinema in Yogyakarta. The research methodology that is used is qualitative descriptive with data collection through in-depth interviews involving an offender of cinema in Yogyakarta, the literature study and relevant documents. This study found that was the film community as the basis distributor of short film or alternate in Yogyakarta. This community can come from campus and outside campus. In a line distribution filmmaker of Yogyakarta play the movie from one place to another place by the festival playback on a campus and screening outside campus. The development of the internet technology made it easier for in search of a sac culture and decent it can be used the movie. Through the internet on filmmaker of Yogyakarta looking for another film community who were willing to roll the the movie.

Abstract

The real experience of journalists in the field when disaster coverage is learning that can be researched empirically  in disaster coverage in the present and future. The purpose of this research described problems communication disaster experien ced by reporters at the disaster, within specific research about experiences journalist who served in Yogyakarta and surrounding when coverage eruption Merapi 2010. Methods used in this research is indepth interviews with the journalists who involved in disaster coverage. The result of this research was found an important aspect that must be controlled reporters, namely, the ability accuracy and verification of data in coverage that puts forward journalism sensitive disasters and as well as to give hope to residents affected disaster and people through journalism optimistic in disaster coverage. The absence of standard operating procedure (SOP) of disaster coverage during the eruption of Merapi Mount eruption in 2010 became a valuable lesson for various media. The SOP of disaster coverage becomes significant in disaster coverage which now has to be prepared by the editor before giving assignments to journalists to cover the disaster. This research contributes to give a new insight for journalist on disaster journalism issue.

Abstract

Football supporters or fans are spirit for football clubs and even become an identity of the city itself. The rivalry of an Indonesian football club supporters are the social phenomenon. In a north coast region of Middle Java Province, recently there is a conflict and clashes between Persibat Batang football supporters and Persip Pekalongan football supporters. The conflict between football supporters from both clubs culminated on April 27, 2017 when the two teams were met in the level and the same group in second league  Indonesia. Till now, there is still friction between both of them. So here the researcher then examines from the point of view of a phenomenon of conflict between the two that creates stereotypes and an identity of a group in it which aims to find and describe the factors of the beginning of the rivalry between the two supporters. Researchers used a qualitative approach method and the research data was descriptive data with a case study strategy in order to capture the phenomena in the field, while the data analysis used interactive analysis.This study found that a supporter conflict due to rivalry and excessive fanaticism, then stereotypes emerged and formed because of differences in groups between the two who fight each other, while the identity in the group is no longer viewed, who is considered different from the group is his enemy. Finally, the identity between football supporters are relational.

Abstract

Ketika kompetisi tertinggi sepakbola Indonesia Liga 1 dihentikan sementara yang akibatkan penyebaran virus Covid-19 pada bulan April-Agustus 2020, semua aktivitas klub terpaksa dihentikan. Digital Media PS Sleman yang memiliki tanggung jawab untuk pengelolaan aset digital, salah satunya medium Instagram. Ini menjadi tantangan bagi Digital Media PS Sleman untuk selalu update berita dan informasi klub dengan pemanfaatan new media selama pandemi Covid-19. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu ingin mendiskripsikan dan mengetahui strategi Digital Media PS Sleman agar meningkatkan aktivitas-interaksi (engagement) selama tidak ada kompetisi akibat wabah Covid-19. Menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskripstif dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan mengumpulkan data. Mayoritas konten-konten yang disajikan Digital Media PS Sleman lebih ber-genre gimmick agar terkesan tidak kaku dan informal supaya mendapatkan atensi sehingga followers @pssleman melakukan aksi setelah setiap konten Instagram diunggah. Karena tidak adanya aktivitas kompetisi resmi membuat Digital Media PS Sleman bersinergi dengan departemen lain untuk selalu menyajikan konten-konten selama pandemi seperti iklan digital, bakti sosial maupun progres pembangunan klub.

Abstract

As an Islamic majority country, various Islamic attributes (including muslimah) are often used as a seasoning for the promotion of advertising through representation. However, advertising does not represent a reality as a whole because the representation that appears in an advertisement is the result of the construction between the reality and the ideas of advertisers. Various signs that represent muslimah in an advertisement become a standard of idealization and build an identity for muslimah. Identity can be easily interpreted through the signs of tastes, beliefs, attitudes and lifestyles. This research tries to see how muslimah identity is represented by the following television advertisements Sunsilk's television commercial version "Hijab Refresh - Laudya Cynthia Bella", Wardah ad version "Exclusive Series - #FeelThePerfection", and Emeron ad version "Apapun Style Hijabmu, Perawatan Rambutnya Emeron Hijab Shampo". This thesis research uses the Roland Barthes semiotics method with data collection techniques in the form of documentation and literature study. Through the three existing research objects, the author sees that advertisements represent muslimah identity through several things, including trends in hijab fashion on muslimah, actions taken by muslimah as an expression of their interest in popular culture and cultural hybridization that occurs in muslimah. These three points are conveyed by advertisements through the signs in the advertisements and build values that represent muslimah.

Abstract

Kasus-kasus kekerasan seksual khususnya tindak perkosaan selalu menjadi pemberitaan menarik bagi oleh media. Media daring sering mengambil keuntungan dari kejadian mengenaskan tersebut dengan tujuan dengan melakukan umpan klik atau clickbait pada para pengunjung situsnya. Judul berita clickbait kerap menitikberatkan pada subyek, rumor, dan kalimat yang provokatif, bahkan ada yang tidak memiliki nilai berita sama sekali. Tujuan utama penggunaan judul artikel clickbait adalah mengarahkan agar kunjungan pengguna media online semakin meningkat sehingga pendapatan media tersebut bertambah. Penelitian ini berangkat dari fenomena yang sedang menjadi sorotan di awal tahun 2020, yakni tentang pemerkosaan yang melibatkan Reynhard Sinaga, warga negara Indonesia yang berada di Inggris. Diberitakan bahwa pemerkosaan yang dilakukan tersebut merupakan kasus pemerkosaan terbesar di Inggris. Tirto dan Tribunnews, dua media daring terkemuka di Indonesia yang memberitakan kasus perkosaan yang dilakukan Reynhard Sinaga dalam porsi yang berlimpah dengan judul yang umpan klik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode analisis framing kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kepustakaan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah framing dari William A. Gamson dan Andre Modigliani. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukan adanya perbedaan bingkai antara kedua media. Tirto membingkai kasus yang dilakukan Reynhard Sinaga berkaitan dengan latar belakang seksualnya sebagai homoseksual. Sedangkan Tribunnews justru membingkai kasus ini karena dilatarbelakangi orientasi seksual pelaku. Tribunnews bahkan membingkai kasus perkosaan yang dilakukan Reynhard Sinaga berkaitan dengan kehidupan pribadinya. Sebaliknya Tirto justru mendepankan bingkai bahwa saksi dan korban perlu mendapat perlindungan. Framing Tribunnews ini memperlihatkan fenomena umpan klik untuk meraih kunjungan pembaca yang tinggi, demi mendapatkan iklan.

Abstract

Diskominfo DIY merupakan instansi pemerintah yang berfungsi sebagai sarana dan tempat  untuk memberikan pelayanan informasi kepada masyarakat khususnya warga Yogyakarta.   Pandemi ini membuat Diskominfo DIY berfokus pada pembuatan konten secara intens dan terstruktur tentang Covid-19.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah  tentang manajemen produksi konten media digital  Diskominfo DIY. Dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam, observasi ke kantor dan tempat produksi Diskominfo DIY dan kajian pustaka. Penelitian ini melihat proses produksi selama pandemi yang sangat terbatas dengan tetap menjalankan proses produksi sesuai dengan protokol kesehatan yang ada.   Isi konten yang dibuat oleh Diskominfo DIY adalah pesan yang berkaitan dengan komunikasi kesehatan yang dikemas secara menarik dan bisa diterima dengan baik oleh masyarakat Yogyakarta. Dalam publikasi konten, tim produksi tetap melakukan kurasi dengan kepala bidang, penyusun materi, dan content creator sebagai penanggung jawab konten. Konten yang dipublikasikan berupa infografis, Iklan Layanan Masyarakat (ILM), dan data harian  Covid-19. Model manajemen produksi konten digital yang dilakukan adalah dengan pra produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi, hingga publikasi di media sosial. Semua tahap dilakukan dengan mengutamakan protokol kesehatan.

Abstract

This research is an reception analysis from Stuart Hall theory developed by David Morley. The research aims to find out how the audience in accepting and interpreting gender roles in women in Bumi Manusia film through in depth interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with seven informants. Informants came from Klub DIY Menonton, Montase Film, Feminis Yogya, Yogyakarta Hijrah, LDK Jama’ah Shalahuddin, Rumah Baca Komunitas, dan Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) Tunas Bangsa. Bumi Manusia is a historical genre film directed by Hanung Bramantyo. The film tells the suffering of the natives and the suffering of women in the suppression of patriarchal culture. The results of the study prove the concept of active audiences in interpreting media messages. The researcher found the encoding-decoding is in dominant-hegemonic position. The informant agree that woman is in second position in society and law.
