Abstract

This study was motivated by the low ability of students in writing short stories, which was generally limited to simple ideas, incoherent plots, and a lack of conflict exploration. The learning model applied by teachers was still conventional and less effective in encouraging students’ creativity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the synectics learning model on students’ ability to write short stories at grade VII MTs Pondok Pesantren Al-Muktariah Sungai Dua. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were two classes, with the experimental class taught using the synectics model and the control class taught using a conventional model. The instrument was a short story writing test analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and independent t-test. The results showed that both groups had relatively similar initial abilities, but after treatment there was a significant difference with t = 4.989; p = 0.000. The mean posttest score of the experimental group (76.70) was higher than the control group (67.73). The conclusion is that the synectics learning model has a significant effect on improving students’ short story writing ability. This finding reinforces the theory that analogy and conflict exploration in synectics effectively stimulate creativity, enrich narrative ideas, and enhance students’ motivation to write.

Abstract

Abstract

The research that has been conducted is entitled "The Effect of Role Playing Method on Speaking Skills in Drama Texts in Grade VII Students of SMP Negeri 20 Medan" which is motivated by the low learning outcomes in the Indonesian Language subject, especially in language skills. Students show a lack of self-confidence and doubt in conveying ideas or ideas that they have. The research method uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach, a non-equivalent control group design using a nonprobability sampling technique (purposive sampling) and in the form of a pre-test and post-test with a sample size of 32 students VII-1 and 32 students VII-3. Data collection techniques with observation, multiple choice tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the results of the pre-test that has been carried out, it is known that the average pre-test results of the control class and the experimental class are not much different, namely the average pre-test score of the control class is 56.41 while the experimental class is 57.34. After both classes carried out the learning process with different processes, there was a significant difference in the post-test given, namely the control class obtained a score of 84.22 while the experimental class obtained a score of 89.69. Based on the dialtals, it was proven that there was an increase in learning outcomes after the learning process was carried out.

Abstract

This study provides a contrastive analysis of interjections in the Indonesian and Mandailing Batak languages, focusing on their morphological characteristics. By comparing these two languages, we aim to highlight their similarities and differences in the use and formation of interjections. This analysis is limited to a morphological review to prevent overlap with topics related to verb types and verb formation processes. Utilizing both descriptive qualitative research methodology and comparative-contrast descriptive methodology, we systematically compare the interjection morphology in both languages. The methodologies differ in their application: the descriptive qualitative approach involves detailed observations and descriptions of interjection usage, while the comparative-contrast approach focuses on identifying and analyzing the distinctions and similarities between the languages. The primary data source comprises example sentences created by the researcher, ensuring linguistic acceptability. The researcher's specific tasks include selecting relevant sentences, analyzing their morphological structures, and categorizing the interjections. Data collection encompasses the specific interjection systems of each language, and each grammatical category's realization is examined. Contrasts are drawn based on the analysis outcomes after thorough data collection.
