Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal parenting styles and the level of physical independence of preschool children (aged 4–6 years) at Raudhatul Athfal Al-Falah Sampang Karang Tengah Demak. Children's independence is an important aspect of growth and development, especially the ability to perform daily physical activities without dependence on others. This study used an analytical quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 70 respondents selected using total sampling technique according to the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for reliability, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed that most mothers applied a democratic parenting style (51.4%), followed by permissive (41.4%) and authoritarian (7.1%). The level of children's physical independence was mostly in the independent category (55.7%). Bivariate tests showed a significant relationship between maternal parenting styles and children's physical independence (p = 0.002; r = –0.363). Parenting styles play a role in shaping children's physical independence, so a balanced parenting style between discipline and support is needed for children to develop optimally.

Abstract

Background: Bonding and attachment are important aspects of emotional development. The quality of emotional relationships formed through warm and responsive interactions plays a significant role in shaping an individual’s ability to recognize, manage, and express emotions appropriately. However, variations in the quality of bonding and attachment may influence the level of emotional intelligence. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research design with a correlational approach and a cross-sectional method. The sample consisted of 50 respondents selected according to the research criteria. Data were collected using questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, and correlation testing. Since the data were not normally distributed, the relationship between variables was analyzed using the Spearman’s Rho correlation test. Results: The results showed a positive and significant relationship between bonding and emotional intelligence, with a correlation coefficient of 0.453 and a significance value of 0.001. Attachment also demonstrated a positive and significant relationship with emotional intelligence, with a correlation coefficient of 0.479 and a significance value of 0.000. Both relationships were categorized as moderate correlations. Conclusion: Bonding and attachment have a positive and significant relationship with emotional intelligence.

Abstract

Background: Anemia during pregnancy remains a major public health concern because it contributes to adverse maternal and fetal outcomes and is strongly influenced by modifiable health behaviors. Prenatal education grounded in behavioral theory has gained increasing attention as a strategy to improve preventive practices, particularly in primary care and community settings. The Health Belief Model offers a relevant framework because it addresses women’s perceptions of risk, benefits, barriers, and cues to action related to anemia prevention. Objective: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Health Belief Model-based prenatal education on anemia prevention behaviors among pregnant women in community health centers and other primary care settings. Methods: This study applied a systematic review design. Literature searches were conducted across major electronic databases using combinations of terms related to the Health Belief Model, prenatal education, pregnant women, anemia, iron supplementation, hemoglobin, and primary health care. The main outcomes were hemoglobin level, anemia prevalence, iron-folic acid supplementation adherence, dietary intake, and behavioral determinants. Data were extracted using a structured form and synthesized narratively. Results: Eight studies were included in the final synthesis. The findings consistently showed that Health Belief Model-based or theory-based prenatal education improved anemia prevention behaviors and related health outcomes. The strongest effects were observed in iron-folic acid supplementation adherence, hemoglobin improvement, anemia reduction, and healthier dietary practices. Several studies also reported gains in maternal knowledge, attitudes, and selected Health Belief Model constructs, especially perceived susceptibility and cues to action. Interventions that combined counseling with educational media, reminder systems, or repeated follow-up produced more consistent benefits across settings. Conclusion: Health Belief Model-based prenatal education appears to be an effective strategy for improving anemia prevention behaviors among pregnant women in community and primary care settings. Integrating theory-based educational interventions into routine antenatal services may strengthen maternal anemia prevention and support better pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is a nosocomial infection that manifests in patients following mechanical ventilation for ≥ 48 hours. This incidence significantly contributes to the escalation of morbidity, mortality, prolonged length of stay, and the financial burden of care. The implementation of the VAP Bundle as an evidence-based practice is projected to reduce VAP prevalence while optimizing the duration of ventilator use. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the implementation of the VAP Bundle and the incidence of VAP, as well as the duration of mechanical ventilation among patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. This study employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 44 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using VAP Bundle implementation observation sheets, medical records, and the Clinical Pulmonary Infection Score (CPIS). Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square statistical test. The findings indicated a significant relationship between the implementation of the VAP Bundle and the incidence of VAP, as well as a relationship between the VAP Bundle implementation and the duration of ventilator use. Adherence to VAP Bundle implementation according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) contributed to a decrease in VAP incidence and a tendency toward a ventilator duration of ≤4 days. Compliance with the VAP Bundle protocol plays a crucial role in preventing VAP and enhancing the efficiency of ventilator use. This study recommends increasing nursing compliance with VAP Bundle standards to improve the quality of critical care nursing services.
