Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by metabolic disorders, characterized by impaired insulin secretion and action, with its prevalence continuously increasing. This study aims to describe blood glucose levels and blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Kalibagor Health Center based on respondent characteristics. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional design, involving 50 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus selected through total sampling technique. Data were collected through random blood glucose tests, blood pressure measurements, and interviews regarding smoking habits and family history. The results showed that 58% of respondents had high blood glucose levels, while 70% had normal blood pressure. Respondents with a family history of diabetes were more likely to experience high blood glucose levels, while smokers had a higher risk of experiencing high blood pressure. This study also found the influence of age, gender, and family history on blood glucose and blood pressure levels. Therefore, further education on healthy lifestyle and risk factor management is needed to prevent further complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Patients who undergo cesarean sections typically experience postoperative pain, which can cause stress, hinder movement, and delay recovery. Pain can be managed through pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, one of which is the combination of Benson Relaxation and natural sounds. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of combining Benson relaxation and natural sounds on pain levels in patients after cesarean section at Bunda Arif Purwokerto Mother and Child Hospital. Methods: A single-group pre-test design was used, with 32 participants selected randomly. Pain was measured using a Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. Pain was reassessed after a 15-minute intervention. Results: Before the intervention, the majority of participants reported moderate pain (31 participants, 96.9%). After the intervention, the majority reported mild pain (30 participants, 93.8%). The Wilcoxon signed-rank test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), suggesting the combination of Benson relaxation and natural sounds significantly reduces pain. Conclusion: This combination technique is effective as a complementary therapy for pain management following cesarean section. Relevance to clinical practice: This simple 15-minute intervention can be integrated into routine post-cesarean nursing care to reduce pain and promote comfort. It is low-cost, non-invasive, and easy to deliver, supporting early mobilization and recovery while potentially reducing reliance on analgesics and related side effects.

Abstract

Hypertension is a public health problem whose prevalence continues to increase and carries the risk of causing various serious complications if not properly managed. In addition to pharmacological therapy, non-pharmacological therapy is needed as a supporting effort in controlling blood pressure, one of which is foot soak therapy with warm water and salt. This study aims to determine the effect of foot soak therapy with warm water and salt on blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in Jompo Kulon Village, Sokaraja District. This research method is Pre-experimental with a one-group pretest posttest design. The sampling technique used Purposive sampling of 82 respondents with hypertension. Data was collected by measuring blood pressure before and after foot soak therapy with warm water and salt. The results showed that hypertension sufferers were experienced by respondents aged over 61 years as many as 53 people (64.6%), female as many as 65 people (79.3%). With an average blood pressure before giving foot soak therapy with warm water and salt of 151/88 mmHg, after giving therapy respondents had an average blood pressure of 136/81 mmHg. The results of the Wilcoxon statistical test showed that there was a decrease in blood pressure in the form of systolic blood pressure in 81 respondents and diastolic blood pressure in 68 respondents with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there was an effect of providing foot soak therapy with warm water and salt.
