Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the influence of digital competence and work motivation on individual performance in digitalized organizational settings. Ongoing technological changes require employees to develop not only technical skills but also adaptive capabilities to respond effectively to dynamic work systems. Research Methodology: A quantitative explanatory approach was applied, involving respondents selected based on specific criteria. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using inferential statistical methods to assess the relationships among the variables. Results: The results revealed that digital competence significantly enhanced performance, particularly in improving efficiency and technology-based problem-solving. Work motivation plays a crucial role in strengthening employee engagement and goal attainment. Furthermore, the combined effect of both variables demonstrated a stronger contribution than their individual impacts. Conclusions: This study confirms the stronger role of personal resources in improving employee commitment in digitally transforming public institutions and supports the JD-R perspective regarding resource relevance. Limitations: This study's limitations include its cross-sectional design, potential omission of factors such as leadership style, and reliance on self-reported data, which may introduce bias despite attempts to mitigate it. Contributions: The findings provide empirical evidence for strategic human resource development and extend the JD-R theory in the public sector context.

Abstract

Generation Z, as digital natives comprising approximately 27.94% of Indonesia's population, is rapidly entering the workforce and becoming a significant force in the manufacturing sector. This study investigates the effect of digital transformation on Generation Z employee performance with digital literacy as a mediating variable in manufacturing industries within the Batam Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Batam, strategically positioned near Singapore, is undergoing rapid digital transformation with the development of 10 data centers in Nongsa Digital Park and the adoption of AI-based smart factories. Using a quantitative approach with a survey method, this study collected data from 312 Generation Z employees (born 1997-2012) working in manufacturing companies across Batam's industrial estates. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with Smart PLS 4.0. The findings reveal that: (1) digital transformation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (β = 0.356, p < 0.001); (2) digital transformation has a positive and significant effect on digital literacy (β = 0.674, p < 0.001); (3) digital literacy has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (β = 0.445, p < 0.001); and (4) digital literacy partially mediates the relationship between digital transformation and employee performance (β = 0.300, p < 0.001). The total effect of digital transformation on employee performance is 0.656, with 45.7% transmitted through digital literacy. These findings provide theoretical contributions to understanding the digital transformation-performance nexus among Generation Z employees and offer practical implications for human resource management strategies in optimizing digital initiatives in manufacturing contexts.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the direct influence between task complexity, competence, work culture and locus of control on the performance of goods and services procurement employees and to analyze the indirect influence between task complexity, competence, work culture and locus of control on the work of goods and services procurement employees. services which are moderated by the transformational leadership variable. The number of samples is the same as the population or by census or saturated sample method, as many as 163 employees managing the procurement of goods and services for the Riau Islands Province (PPK and Election Working Group). The data analysis method was carried out using descriptive statistics and data analysis using SEM and data processing using the smart PLS program. The R Square value of the combined or simultaneous influence of X1, X2, X3, and X4 on Y is 0.907 with an adjusted R Square value of 0.903. This can be explained that all exogenous constructs (X1, X2, X3, and X4) simultaneously influence Z by 90.30%. These findings prove that task complexity, competence, work culture and locus of control have a significant determination of the performance of procurement of goods and services in the Riau Islands Province and have an R Square value of combined or simultaneous influence of X1, X2, X3, and X4 on Z of 0.769 with an adjusted R Square value of 0.763. This proves that task complexity, competence, work culture and locus of control have significant determinants of job satisfaction of 76.30%. And the R Square value of the moderating effect on the performance of goods and services procurement employees is 0.775 with an adjusted R Square value of 0.770, meaning that the transformational leadership variable has an influence on the performance of goods and services procurement employees by 77%. The novelty of this research is that to optimize the performance of procurement of goods and services in the Riau Islands Province, researchers added one indicator to the locus of control variable, namely the need for spiritual intelligence (ESQ) in addition to emotional intelligence.

Abstract

This study examines the predictive roles of digital financial literacy (DFL), financial stress (FS), financial self-efficacy (FSE), and peer influence (PI) in predicting predatory-lending vulnerability (PLV) among female industrial workers, a structurally exposed yet under-studied demographic within Indonesia's digital-credit ecosystem, where 6,991 illegal lending platforms were blocked between 2022 and 2024. A cross-sectional explanatory survey was administered to 378 female workers in three Batam integrated industrial estates using validated instruments (OECD/INFE DFL; Prawitz IFDFW; Lown FSES). Data were analyzed through PLS-SEM (SmartPLS 4) with bootstrapping (5,000 resamples), following STROBE reporting guidelines. All four hypotheses were supported (p < .001). The model explained 52.4% of the variance in PLV (Q² = .342). Financial stress was the strongest predictor (β = +.342), followed by peer influence (β = +.276), digital financial literacy (β = –.218), and financial self-efficacy (β = –.187), confirming a push-pull risk architecture. The single-region cross-sectional design limits causal inference and external validity, while self-reported use of illegal lenders likely understates the actual prevalence due to social desirability bias. The findings apply primarily to feminized manufacturing labor in Southeast Asian export zones. This study presents the first integrated PLS-SEM model testing cognitive, affective, psychological, and social predictors of predatory-lending vulnerability among Indonesian female industrial workers. It advances gender-sensitive financial-vulnerability research and provides rank-ordered evidence for demand-side interventions under OJK Regulation No. 11/2024, aligned with SDG 5 and SDG 8.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of competence, workload, and leadership style on employee performance with self-efficacy as an intervening variable at the Customs and Excise Service and Supervision Office of Middle Type B Bandar Lampung. This research employed a quantitative approach using explanatory research. The population consisted of 144 employees, while the sample consisted of 106 respondents determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% error tolerance. Data were collected through questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that competence has a positive and significant effect on self-efficacy and employee performance. Workload has a positive and significant effect on self-efficacy but has no significant effect on employee performance. Leadership style has no significant effect on self-efficacy but has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Self-efficacy mediates the effect of competence on employee performance and mediates the effect of leadership style on employee performance, but does not mediate the effect of workload on employee performance. Simultaneously, competence, workload, and leadership style do not significantly affect self-efficacy, whereas competence, workload, leadership style, and self-efficacy simultaneously have a significant effect on employee performance.
