Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of community service programs that focus on cooperative empowerment in Surabaya, an important city in East Java with a strategic role in the Indonesian economy. Considering that cooperatives in Surabaya often experience management constraints and limited access to finance, this program is designed to overcome these challenges through improving management skills, financial literacy, and technology integration. The methodology of this research involves an initial survey, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with cooperative stakeholders, and the implementation of a technology-based cooperative management system that aims to increase transparency and operational efficiency. The results of this service activity show a significant increase in the economic and operational capacity of cooperatives. Operational efficiency has increased with a reduction in administration time from six days to 2.5 days. The cooperative's monthly income increased by 50%, from IDR 50 million to IDR 75 million, and new members increased by 46%, indicating an increase in public trust in the cooperative. This program not only improves the performance of cooperatives but also strengthens their role in the local economy through increased market access and business sustainability. These findings imply that cooperative empowerment through managerial capacity development, financial literacy, and the application of technology can effectively improve cooperative performance and competitiveness. Therefore, this program has the potential to be used as a model for sustainable cooperative development in Indonesia. The study also recommends increased training in advanced technologies and infrastructure to support the implementation of effective strategies.

Abstract

Stunting remains a chronic nutritional issue in Indonesia, particularly among children under the age of two. Two crucial factors influencing stunting status are birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to determine the correlation between birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, and stunting in children aged 6–24 months. This study employed an analytical quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 120 children aged 6–24 months and their mothers were selected using purposive sampling at Deket Community Health Center Lamongan. Data were collected through interviews using structured questionnaires and anthropometric measurements. Data analysis was conducted using chi-square tests and logistic regression. The analysis revealed a significant association between birth weight and stunting (p = 0.003), and a significant association between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting (p = 0.001). Children with low birth weight (<2500 grams) had a 3.1 times higher risk of stunting, while children who were not exclusively breastfed had a 2.7 times higher risk of stunting compared to those who were exclusively breastfeed. Although the study provides valuable insights, its cross-sectional nature limits causal interpretation, and recall bias may have affected the accuracy of reported breastfeeding practices. Despite these limitations, the findings underscore the need for strengthened prenatal and breastfeeding interventions to prevent stunting. Birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding are significantly associated with stunting in children aged 6–24 months. Promotive and preventive interventions through pregnancy monitoring and breastfeeding education are crucial efforts in preventing stunting.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted in the Digital Marketing Division of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) Regional V Surabaya, aiming to support the implementation of a digital performance appraisal system through the Ihsan Pos and Jobman applications. The background of this activity lies in the ongoing challenges such as data entry difficulties, delays in validation, and limited staff understanding of the Objective and Key Results (OKR) framework and the AKHLAK values, which serve as the foundation for performance evaluation in the company. The implementation used a descriptive qualitative approach, involving participatory observation, interviews with relevant staff, and documentation of the implementation process. Participating students were actively involved in inputting OKR data, synchronizing job descriptions, and assisting with final validation by direct supervisors. The results showed an improvement in the efficiency of the performance appraisal process, with data input time reduced from three days to one working day, and data completeness increasing from 72% to 96%. Staff understanding of the system also improved, as evidenced by 80% of staff being able to operate the application independently after mentoring. In conclusion, this community service activity had a positive impact on the speed and accuracy of the performance appraisal process. However, further training is needed to ensure all employees can formulate OKRs effectively according to SMART principles.
