Abstract

Industry 4.0 has shifted business processes from traditional to digital systems and forced companies to take strategic steps to become more sustainable, one of which is e-commerce technology. A key element in getting consumers to accept and be interested in using e-commerce is the availability of a user-friendly e-commerce platform. This study intended to examine how the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory's application analyzes consumer acceptability and adoption of the e-commerce website. The number of users that have completed transactions on the e-commerce (Plantage.id) website between January 2021 and August 2022 serves as the population and sample in this causal quantitative study. SEM-PLS, using the software SmartPLS, is used for data analysis. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between a significant relationship website; meanwhile, the influence of perceived ease of use on attitude towards using, perceived usefulness on behavioral intention, and attitude towards using on behavioral intention showed insignificant effects. The results of this study align with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory, which states that the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are the main factors that are important for users in determining the acceptance and actual usage of a new information technology system such as e-commerce. The higher these two factors, the greater the chance consumers can accept and use the systems.

Abstract

One of the primary challenges faced by government policies concerning agricultural commodities is maintaining food price stability. Instability in food prices can have significant economic, political, and social repercussions. This study provides an in-depth analysis of rice price fluctuations on a daily basis, offering a clearer understanding of rice price volatility in Medan. Through seasonality and volatility analysis, this research examines the changing trends in rice prices and their associated fluctuations. It is revealed that rice prices in Medan peak in February, and  the lowest rice prices occur in December. The rice prices were more volatile before the pandemic than after it. During the pre-pandemic period, the correlation between the prices of various food items was relatively low, meaning that the prices of different commodities were not strongly linked. However, in the post-pandemic period, the correlation between rice prices and other food items in Medan became more significant, suggesting that the prices of rice were more closely tied to those of other essential foodstuffs. Although rice price volatility in Medan is generally low throughout most of the year, the government should focus particular attention on the months between October and February, when volatility tends to be higher due to factors such as seasonal demand spikes and external influences like weather conditions. By proactively managing supply and demand, ensuring adequate rice stocks, and supporting local rice production, the Medan government can more effectively navigate periods of heightened volatility and ensure that rice prices remain stable and affordable for all consumers

Abstract

Agricultural sector is exposed to risk especially risk in crop price or production volatility. The cropping pattern or mixed cropping is a diversification strategy which is considered as an approach to reduce the risk in agriculture farming. This research was conducted to analyze the combination of two plant types, namely vegetable crops and food crops. Portfolio combine longbean and spinach as vegetable crop portfolio and paddy and corn as food crop portfolio. The risk analysis method is used to calculate expected return, standard deviation and coefficient variation. This research also analyzes the choice of portfolio based on preference using Stochastic Efficiency with Respect to A Fuction (SERF). The results showed that with the aim of reducing the risks from farming, combination of spinach with longbean and paddy with corn can reduce risks and provide greater income. Moreover, at various levels of risk preference, the vegetable portfolio is more preferred than food crops portfolio. This study result implies a potential development for vegetable crops vertical farming in Medan.
