Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to enhance financial awareness among high school students at SMAK Petra 2 Surabaya by implementing comprehensive and interactive financial literacy training. The program utilized a service-learning approach integrating active academic learning with community engagement. The activities included interactive lectures, group discussions, a personal financial goal-setting workshop, a digital quiz competition, basic investment education, and an educational card game titled “Stock Quartet.” These components introduced key financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, and investing in an accessible and engaging way. The digital quiz measured students’ comprehension, while the game reinforced stock market understanding in a fun context. Data were collected using the STARS method, direct observation, quiz scores, and analysis of student financial plans. The results showed increased financial literacy, improved savings behavior, and greater student awareness of the importance of early financial planning. This approach effectively cultivated a healthy financial mindset, empowered students to make informed financial decisions, and encouraged long-term financial responsibility. The outcomes indicate that practical and enjoyable financial education can be critical in developing financially literate youth prepared to face future economic challenges.

Abstract

This study observes the influence of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) towards customer satisfaction and loyalty of banking companies in Indonesia. It investigates how M&A activities affect consumer perceptions, service quality, and brand trust. Using survey data from news articles & customers of companies that have undergone M&A between 2018 and 2023, this study uses a quantitative approach with statistical analysis, including regression models and correlation analysis, to assess shifts in customer sentiment. The results acknowledge that while M&A can create operational efficiencies and expand service offerings, they sometimes lead to short-term decrease in customer satisfaction due to service disturbance and brand identity changes. Customers possibly encounter uncertainty about the product quality, pricing readjustments, and consistency of the service, affecting their general satisfaction. Nevertheless, companies with effective post-M&A combination, containing transparent communication, service consistency, and customer engagement, may maintain customer loyalty. Furthermore, brand reputation and trustworthiness play a big role in building post-M&A consumer behavior. Customers tend to remain loyal when they recognize stability and upgraded benefits after the merger. Though M&A develop opportunities for business growth, they also pose a threat to customer relationships if not executed correctly. Understanding these interactions is essential for companies to direct consumer doubts, enhance customer loyalty strategies, and maximize the long-term advantages of M&A.

Abstract

Bank mergers are a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing financial stability, expanding market share, and improving service efficiency. This study examines the impact of bank mergers on service quality in Indonesia, with a particular focus on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and brand trust across three different generations (gen X, millennials, & gen Z). Using qualitative methods, this research analyzes survey data derived from news articles and customer feedback from banks that underwent mergers between 2018 and 2023. The findings indicate that bank mergers often result in improved digital services, broader service offerings, and greater operational efficiency. However, they may also lead to short-term challenges, including service disruptions, policy changes, and shifts in brand identity. These disruptions can create uncertainty around product offerings, pricing, and service consistency, potentially affecting overall customer satisfaction. Nevertheless, banks that effectively manage post-merger integration—through transparent communication, consistent service delivery, and proactive customer engagement—are better positioned to retain customer loyalty. Moreover, brand reputation and perceived stability play a crucial role in shaping customer trust and retention following a merger. While mergers offer significant opportunities for growth and innovation, they also pose risks to customer relationships if not carefully managed. Therefore, understanding these dynamics is essential for banks seeking to address customer concerns, strengthen retention strategies, and realize the long-term benefits of mergers.

Abstract

Self-control in managing money is very important in life. Knowledge and skills about finance need to be instilled as early as possible to form positive behavior in the future. Therefore, one of the efforts made to instill this attitude in children is by carrying out community service activities. This community service activity was carried out by Petra Christian University students by teaching children at Petra Christian Kindergarten 9. There were various forms of activities carried out. Some of them are puppet shows, coloring, singing together, and decorating piggy banks. The purpose of these activities are to increase children's understanding of the importance of financial management, hone their creativity, and encourage frugal living habits. It is hoped that this community service activity will create better awareness about financial management among the Alpha generation, as well as prepare them for a financially stable future. Abstrak Pengendalian diri dalam mengelola keuangan merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan. Pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengelola keuangan ini perlu ditanamkan sedini mungkin untuk membentuk perilaku yang positif di masa depan. Oleh karena itu, salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk menanamkan sikap ini pada anak-anak, adalah dengan melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan oleh mahasiswa-mahasiswa Universitas Kristen Petra dengan mengajar anak-anak di TK Kristen Petra 9. Bentuk kegiatan yang dilakukan ada bermacam-macam. Beberapa diantaranya adalah pertunjukan boneka, mewarnai, menyanyi bersama, serta menghias celengan. Tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak tentang pentingnya pengelolaan keuangan, mengasah kreativitas mereka, dan mendorong kebiasaan hidup hemat. Dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, diharapkan akan menciptakan kesadaran yang lebih baik tentang pengelolaan keuangan di kalangan generasi Alpha, serta mempersiapkan mereka untuk masa depan yang stabil secara finansial.

Abstract

Pengelolaan keuangan personal yang efektif memerlukan pemahaman yang baik tentang prinsip-prinsip dasar keuangan, seperti perencanaan anggaran, tabungan, pengelolaan utang, serta investasi. Namun, di kalangan masyarakat desa, khususnya di Desa Sooko-Gresik masih memiliki literasi keuangan yang rendah. Masyarakat Desa Sooko-Gresik masih terbatas dalam pengetahuan dasar tentang pengelolaan keuangan, seperti pengeluaran yang tidak terkontrol, kurangnya tabungan, dan ketidakmampuan dalam merencanakan masa depan finansial. Keadaan ini memperburuk kondisi ekonomi mereka, di mana sebagian besar penduduk hidup dari pendapatan yang terbatas, telah menghambat kemampuan mereka dalam mengelola keuangan pribadi secara optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan pada pengelolaan keuangan personal di Desa Sooko-Gresik dengan memberikan Langkah-langkah konkret untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan yang dilakukan adalah pemaparan materi mengenai arus kas dan mengumpulkan data melalui in-depth interview, simulasi pencatatan keuangan, permainan edukatif, dan kuis evaluasi di akhir kegiatan untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Setelah kegiatan selesai, peningkatkan literasi keuangan warga Desa Sooko-Gresik arus kas, perbedaan kebutuhan dan keingan, serta lebih peka terhadap kondisi keuangan mereka meningkat hingga 80% diukur dengan pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bermanfaat guna meningkatkan literasi keuangan warga desa dan diharapkan dapat mendorong pemahaman yang lebih fungsional pada keuangan jangka panjang warga desa Sooko-Gresik.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the changes in profitability and compare the company value of Citibank, N.A., Indonesia before and after being acquired by PT Bank UOB Indonesia and to see financial due diligence and whether PT Bank UOB has done the right strategy. Profitability is measured by the ratio of Net Profit Margin, Return On Equity, and Return On Asset. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a comparative research type. The result of this study is that after the acquisition in 2022 there was a significant decrease in 2024 in Net Profit Margin (NPM) between before the acquisition and after the acquisition, besides that there was a decrease in Return On Assets (ROA) and also Return On Equity (ROE). Therefore, no financial synergy exists through the acquisition of Citibank, N.A., Indonesia by PT Bank UOB Indonesia.

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to investigate the factors that influence the adoption of digital banking within the Generation Z age range, especially factors such as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Thus, this research provides an in-depth insight of how these 2 factors affect one’s desire to adopt digital banking. This study is quantitative, with the use purposive sampling, targeting Generation Z digital banking users in Surabaya city with a sample size of 145 respondents. The data was acquired by creating a questionnaire in Google Form, which is then analyzed by the use of SmartPLS with the utilization of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method. The SEM method was used to test the relationship between the independent variables (perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness) and dependent variable (adoption of digital banking). The study’s findings depict that both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have significant influence towards Generation Z’s adoption of digital banking.

Abstract

Di zaman modern ini, pengetahuan finansial sangat penting untuk dimiliki oleh setiap individu. Pengetahuan mengenai mengelola keuangan pribadi harus ditanamkan dalam diri semua manusia sejak dini. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di kelas X SOCIAL 2 Sekolah Menengah Atas Nation Star Academy telah dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah kurangnya literasi keuangan di kalangan remaja usia 15-17 tahun. Metode pengajaran interactive learning digunakan untuk memberikan edukasi literasi keuangan ke para murid SMA, yang bertujuan untuk mendorong keaktifan para murid dalam berpartisipasi dalam pembelajaran. Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan untuk menentukan komunitas yang akan dilayani dan persiapan materi dan games yang akan dilakukan, tahap pelaksanaan aktivitas belajar-mengajar, dan tahap evaluasi yang dilakukan melalui games untuk melihat seberapa jauh para murid telah memahami materi. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat sangat memuaskan karena para murid yang awalnya tidak terlalu mengerti mengenai materi-materi yang diajarkan menjadi jauh lebih paham mengenai literasi keuangan, yang dibuktikan melalui keaktifan ketika memainkan games, dan perbandingan nilai pre-test dan post-test yang sangat baik. Melalui interactive learning, siswa-siswi kelas X SOCIAL 2 Sekolah Menengah Atas Nation Star Academy menjadi lebih melek finansial.

Abstract

Literasi keuangan yang rendah pada kalangan remaja, khususnya remaja SMP, menyebabkan rendahnya kesadaran perencanaan keuangan dan perilaku konsumtif yang berlebihan. Aspek utama yang berperan dalam permasalahan ini ialah tingginya pengaruh sosial media dan kurangnya kurikulum formal tentang edukasi finansial. Sebagai solusi dari tantangan tersebut, dilaksanakan program pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk edukasi keuangan di SMP Negri 57 Surabaya menggunakan metode service learning. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menggunakan tiga tahapan yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Mekanisme pembelajaran disusun secara interaktif melalui penyampaian materi, sesi permainan, sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab, serta sesi refleksi. Metode pembelajaran ini turut serta meningkatkan partisipasi siswa yang berperan dalam menopang pemahaman konsep dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Aktivitas refleksi juga berperan dalam membangun kesadaran siswa akan pentingnya pengelolaan keuangan yang cermat. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini telah berhasil menyampaikan pemahaman komperhensif dan membekali siswa dengan kemampuan dasar yang dapat diimplementasikan pada kemudian hari.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyse mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Indonesia the period 2017 - 2021. This study examines the determinants of abnormal returns of acquirer companies which consist of: Return on Assets, return on equity, Total Asset turnover, Fixed asset turnover, and Gross Profit Margin. This research examines 42 merger and acquisition events during 2017 - 2021. The research data was processed using multiple regression. The results of the research reveals that 5 factors that were used including return on assets, return on equity, total asset turnover, fixed asset turnover, and gross profit margin did not significantly affect the abnormal return of the acquisition company.Keywords: Abnormal return, Financial performance, Mergers and AcquisitionDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/E3J/v7i1.7-12
