Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the characteristics of transpiration of dominant plants post fire peatland in Rimba Panjang Village, Kampar District. The results of the research will be utilized for flipchart media design of the influence of external factors on the growth and development of plants in Class XII Senior High School. This research was conducted in February-June 2017 by using 2 phases namely (1) Stage measurement of transpiration rate of dominant plants; (2) Stage design of Senior High School Biology flipchart media. The research used survey method with observation in Rimba Panjang Village, Kampar District. Determination of sampling location was done by purposive random sampling based on the gradient of fire time and the samples were taken by using the line method. Flipchart media design is done by analysis and design phase. The main parameters in this study were the transpiration rate of dominant plants of sapling level and environmental factors namely soil moisture, light intensity, temperature and humidity as supporting parameters. The results showed that the transpiration characteristics of dominant plants after fire were influenced by the time of the fire. The transpiration rate tends to decrease from the observation site with the longest fire incident time (2009) to the new site experiencing the fire incident (2017). After a fire incident, plants need time to recover from damage both in function and physiology of plants. Differences in environmental conditions at each site with a gradient time observation of the fire is influenced by the high and low intensity fires. Based on the research results developed as a teaching material that will be presented in the design of Senior High School Biology flipchart media.Key Word: Peatland, Transpiration Rate, Flipchart Media2

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of students in class X IPA.1 SMA Negeri 1 Sabak Auh through the implementation of student worksheets based on problem based learning. This research method is Classroom Action Research which is carried out in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of the planning stage, the implementation stage, the observation stage and the reflection stage. The research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Sabak Auh in September - November 2018. The parameter measured was critical thinking ability seen from students' answers on the worksheet and assessed using a critical thinking ability assessment sheet. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study showed the average value of critical thinking skills in the first cycle was 74.19 (enough category) and increased in the second cycle to 84.39 (good category). Based on these data, it can be concluded that the application of student worksheets based on problem based learning can improve the critical thinking skills of students in class X science. 1 SMA Negeri 1 Sabak Auh.Key Words : Creative Thinking Skills, Discovery Learning, Worksheets

Abstract

Abstract: Research to find out the rate of photosynthesis of plants predominantly post-war peat fire that happen in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017 have been conducted from february to june 2017. The rate of photosynthesis (CO2 μmol m-2 s-1) measured with Portable Photosynthesis System Model Li-6400 (Li-Cor Inc., Lincoln, NE, U.S. a.). This study used a survey research design with an ecological approach is conducted to determine the location of sampling vegetation on peat fire post. And for the design of worksheets students analyzed using instructional analysis techniques. The result of descriptive analysis shows that the rate of photosynthesis of dominat stratum trees in Rimba Panjang Village shows that the old burning site (2009) is higher the rate of photosynthesis than the newly burned site (2017).Key words: Photosynthesis, peat-land, post-fire

Abstract

Vegetative growth performance of two varieties of maize by  pulp and paper waste application has been studied  in  peat  soils  using  Factorial  Completely  Randomized  Design  in  biological  garden,  faculty  of education  and  teacher training,  Riau  University.  The  experiments were arrange by  factorial 2 x 5   and three replications. First factor was two maize varieties i.e. Arjuna and Bisi-2. Second factor was Pulp and Paper waste taken from Riau Pulp and Paper Industry. Rate of application were 0,  15, 20, 25, and 30 gr kg 1peat soils. Plant height, leaf length, leaf wide and plant dry weight were measured. Data analyzed by using ANAVA  dan  Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at 5% level of signification.  The results  shows that plant height and leaf length has significance difference between two maize varieties, but not for leaf wide and dry weight. There were no significant interactions effects for all parameters observed. We conclude that the varieties of Arjuna more tolerance and adaptive to  peat soil.Key words : pulp and paper industrial waste, maize tolerance, vegetative growth

Abstract

A desciptive Studies on thesis of biology education student has been explored at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Riau. Data are based on the student Thesis published at the last twenty-five years (1988-2012). As much as 525 Thesis abstract has been analyzed by using total sampling technique. The subject area, research methodes, biology concept and biology teaching concept were indentified. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results shows that most of the thesis focus on Senior High School as a subject of their research. Descriptive and survey methodes are the most chosen by the students in their thesis. At least 57 biology concepts has been Studied as independent variables, and the concept of pollution is the most frequent. There are 40 biology concepts has been Studied as dependent variables, and the most frequent on plant vegetative growth. We found at least 152 biology inctructional concepts has been Studied as independent variables. Biological subject content is the most ferequent. There are 20 biology instructional concepts has been Studied as dependent variables, and the most frequent is learning achievement concept.Keywords: biological education research, biology undergraduate student, Biological concept, biology instructional concept, research in science education, research methology

Abstract

The ex-situ experimental research on root growth of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Mull. Arg. clone PB 260) cultivated in ex-mining bauxite soil byapplication of organic manure has been carried out at Natural Biology Education Laboratory University of Riau during January to June 2013. The purpose of this research was looked for a kind and mixture organic manure ratio to the ex -mining bauxite soil that gave the best root growth. The chicken and cow manure were used as source of organic matter in this single faktor experiment. Three ratios of organic manure : ex-mining bauxite soil (w/w) has been applied i.e control (exmining bauxite soil only), (1:1), and (1:2) were arranged according to Complete Randomize Design. The parameters that observed were root volume, wet weight of root, dry weight of root, shoot : root ratio. The data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA and advance test by using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) in level of 5%. The results show that the mixture ratio 1:2 of cow organic manure and ex-mining bauxite soil gave the best root growth of rubber clone PB 260, particularly root volume (24,8 cm3), wet weight of root (24,2 g), dry weight of root (5,6 g) and shoot : root ratio (19,1 g). In conclusion, the mixture ratio 1:2 of cow manure and ex-mining bauxite is recommended for reclaiming bauxite ex-mining land by planting rubber plant PB 260 in term of root growth.Keywords : chicken and cow organic manure, ex-mining bauxite soil, Hevea brasiliensis Mull. Abstract

The character of caring for students environment is still low. The study aims to evaluate the growth of environmental care character of students, at SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru. The parameters of research were the perception of teachers, principals, students and the growth of environmentally conscious character aspects of the action of growing brothers caring for the environment and environmental cleanliness after the action. The results of the study shows the teacher perceptions with average of 4.44 (88%) in the good category. The school principals is 4.69 (94%) in the good category and student score is 4.24 (79%) in the good category. Students perception of habituation aspects before KBM averaged a score of 1.90 (63%) enough category. The act of growing character cares for the environment with an average of 69% (good), in the aspect of implementation of the class picket the average is 56% (enough). Environmental hygiene in the class average of 77% (good), in terms of cleaning activities before KBM averaged 60% (enough). Environmental cleanliness with an average of 28.7% (less). The growth of students environmental care character from caring actions is showing in the good category and environmental cleanliness in the classroom category is sufficient and outside the classroom category is lacking.

Abstract

The educational challenges of the 21st century require skills especially in Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication and Collaboration. The purpose of this research is to show the improving of students’ critical thinking ability of class XII High School PGRI on Photosynthetic material by using a model of Guided Inquiry. The type of this research is quasi experiment using two classes. Experiment class used model learning Guided Inquiry model and control class used conventional model. The design of research used pretest-posttest control group design. The techniques of collection the data was by using cognitive ability tests of critical thinking in pretest and posttest. From the 5 aspects on critical thinking skills: (1) elementary clarification has increased with N the gain; 0.49 (category medium), (2) basic support has increased with N gain 0.66 (moderate category ); (3) inferring has increased with N gain 0.58 (moderate category); (4) advanced clarification has N gain 0.39 (moderate category); (5) strategies and tactic are experiencing increased by 0.05 gain N (low category).  Generally, it can be concluded that the skill of students’ critical thinking in SMA PGRI has increased through photosynthesis learning with the Guided Inquiry model.

Abstract

Parenting merupakan ilmu yang sudah dimiliki oleh manusia sejak lama. Sepanjang ada interaksi antara anak dan orang tua, maka di sana ada parenting, terlepas dari prinsip dan pelaksanaannya di tiap generasi dan tiap budaya yang berkembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi konsep dinamis progresivisme John Dewey, yang memandang anak-anak sebagai individu yang aktif dan bagaimana orang tua perlu melakukan tugasnya mendidik dan mengasuh mereka. Penelitian yang dilakukan melalui literatur review ini berusaha menggali konsep-konsep progresivisme John Dewey yang dinamis dan memandang anak sebagai individu yang aktif, serta bagaimana orang tua perlu melakukan tugasnya dalam mendidik dan mengasuh anak. Berdasarkan telaah literatur, ditemukan bahwa konsep progresivisme John Dewey relevan digunakan dalam praktik parenting orang tua, bahkan bila dihubungkan dengan perkembangan anak di era digital, karena pandangan Dewey, teknologi adalah “intelligent technique”yang mempengaruhi cara manusia berpikir dan bertindak, digunakan untuk mengakomodir kebutuhannya dalam berinteraksi dengan manusia lain, dalam keluarga ataupun lingkungan yang lebih luas

Abstract

Pandemic COVID-19 has shifted education from face-to-face teaching to online-based distance learning. Educators must prepare strategic steps in responding to this transition to achieve learning objectives. To implement an online learning system, learning strategies and models that meet online learning demands must be made. For this reason, this study aims to analyze the online learning model in the era and post-pandemic COVID-19. Literature research methods are used in this study. Data sources were obtained by collecting relevant literature such as books, journals or scientific articles related to the topic: (i) Pandemic COVID-19; (ii) learning model; and (iii) online learning—analysis technique using content analysis. The results showed four appropriate learning models used in the online learning process: ICT -based learning models, problem-based learning models, blended learning models, and module-based learning models. The four learning models can support a distance learning system, increase student independence, improve digitalization skills and discipline, and increase student collaboration.
